| Would you marry someone just because they are rich ? Posted: 1/23/2006 4:12:15 PM | Depends on the context I'm in. Supposing that I have a very ill mother who is in desparate need of medical attention, which she will only get through a certain amount of $ she doesn't have, and Mr. Rich made it perfectly clear that he will provide that medical attention to her only if I marry him...
OTher than the above and related reasons, never. Never. Life is too short to waste your time on someone you don't love.

A millionaire--NO, but a billionaire!!! Bring him on, I'll worry about love and sex later. If it doesn't work out, then in three months, I can walk away with a $100 million. A million a day--not bad. I can be had, but I am not cheap. My price is $10 million the first time and $1 million a day after that. So far, I haven't had any takers. Do you know anyone willing to pay my price? And remember, you are smarter than I am, so be nice to me. At least she is putting a price on her *ss, unlike lot of you that are giving it up for free to the first dude that treat you for cookies and drinks. U go girl!

It's almost on the same stage as the girls who're talking to their girlfriends and saying how great this guy is, but then at the end say 'oh, but he drives a shitty car' then the other girl agrees and they both agree that the guy isn't worth it.
hyper materialism? get real.

| Would you marry someone just because they are rich ? Posted: 1/24/2006 12:50:07 AM | Not once , not once in this whole thing have I called anyone evil.
I'm not saying people are evil, or women are evil.
But I will say this, people are greedy, people are vain, and people are weak. It's not anybodys fault. I wish we lived in a world where that wasn't true. If I had it in my power I would make all men rich and hansome, and all women young and beautiful. Then we could all pair up by picking names out of a hat.
There is only one thing I am saying in this. And I've said it over and over.
Love is not a matter of what OTHERS are willing to give you. Love is a matter of what YOU have to offer them.
The most valuable thing you have is that part of yourself you give away for free.

cookies and drinks... YEP. That has got to be it! Bring Pillsbury and Beer... or else.. I'm worth a billion. Really, there should be a "STUPID" button that just deletes people's STUPID $hit b4 they post it.
If I had it in my power I would make all men rich and hansome, and all women young and beautiful. YOU just don't get it! What makes people "attractive" is their individuality, their person. I can't believe your this naive ( and trust me I wanted to say STUPID, but I'm trying to use my patience with you )
Who gives anything away for "free"? There is no "price tag" on LOVE and ACCEPTANCE and RESPECT of another human being. God help you Nipoleon, but even then, I think your unable to see humanity... really, seek some counsellling to get over what you so clearly cannot.

| Would you marry someone just because they are rich ? Posted: 1/24/2006 1:57:55 AM | WE ALWAYS give away our LOVE for FREE !!!
Our love can't be bought. There is no price for it. At least not for mine !
Not the richest nor the most beautiful women on earth can wrench or buy love from me that I won't gladly give for free.
What's more important to you AI ?
That I be wrong, or that you be right ?

| Would you marry someone just because they are rich ? Posted: 1/24/2006 2:03:33 AM | What in the world does money have to do with love.....people who are REAL don't give a shred about $!!! That's something that can be dealt with after....
I just can't believe that it buys happiness, just gold diggers and prostitutes....True love and happiness is found with your heart, not a wallet!

| Would you marry someone just because they are rich ? Posted: 1/24/2006 6:00:06 PM | | if i were rich, i wouldn't get married, at all. women only marry for money, usually, and end up with all of it if there is a divorce. screw that. don't get married if you are a rich man. you might regret it! | |

| Would you marry someone just because they are rich ? Posted: 1/24/2006 6:54:11 PM | I'd never marry for money. It just leads to heartbreak. A friend of my father's married a woman for her money, and all it did was make him miserable.
If you're marrying someone for their money, you are just setting yourself up to treated like a piece of property. You're saying that you can be bought and sold.
The person you married for their money is going to resent you because deep down they'll know why you really married them.
No two people should ever marry for anything but love.

Macbeth:. Accursed be that tongue that tells me so, For it hath cow’d my better part of man: And be these juggling fiends no more believ’d, That palter with us in a double sense; That keep the word of promise to our ear, And break it to our hope. I’ll not fight with thee.
No legacy is so rich as honesty. All ’s Well that Ends Well. Act iii. Sc. 5.
He that is proud eats up himself. Pride is his own glass, his own trumpet, his own chronicle; and whatever praises itself but in the deed, devours the deed in the praise. Wisdom and goodness to the vile seem vile. ATTRIBUTION: William Shakespeare (1564–1616), British dramatist, poet. Albany, in King Lear, act 4, sc. 2, l. 38.
I am sure, Though you can guess what temperance should be, You know not what it is. ATTRIBUTION: William Shakespeare (1564–1616), British dramatist, poet. Antony, in Antony and Cleopatra, act 3, sc. 13, l. 120-2.
How God and good men hate so foul a liar.
the tragidy of king richard the 2nd
This momentary joy breeds months of pain; This hot desire converts to cold disdain. Lucrece 690-1
'Love comforteth like sunshine after rain, But Lust's effect is tempest after sun; Love's gentle spring doth always fresh remain, Lust's winter comes ere summer half be done; Love surfeits not, Lust like a glutton dies; Love is all truth, Lust full of forged lies. Venus and Adonis 799-804, Adonis
The expense of spirit in a waste of shame Is lust in action; and till action, lust Is perjured, murderous, bloody, full of blame, Savage, extreme, rude, cruel, not to trust, Enjoy'd no sooner but despised straight, Past reason hunted, and no sooner had Past reason hated, as a swallow'd bait On purpose laid to make the taker mad; Mad in pursuit and in possession so; Had, having, and in quest to have, extreme; A bliss in proof, and proved, a very woe; Before, a joy proposed; behind, a dream. All this the world well knows; yet none knows well To shun the heaven that leads men to this hell. Sonnet 129
and for the less read and more religious..
For the lips of an adulteress drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil; but in the end she is bitter as gall, sharp as a double-edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave. She gives no thought to the way of life; her paths are crooked, but she knows it not. ~ Hebrew Proverbs 5:3-6, NIV

| Would you marry someone just because they are rich ? Posted: 1/25/2006 2:39:40 AM | Yes, men and women both have demeaning and dehumanizing attitudes toward each other. Neither side has an exclusive right to indignation over the other. Both sides are unfair to the other. We have turned love into a very dirty hateful game. All I'm saying is that we should all recognize it and stop doing it. Then maby, it might be possible for us to find some of that true love we all say we are looking for. | |

| Would you marry someone just because they are rich ? Posted: 1/25/2006 12:47:19 PM | Well, I'm glad to see I got back on your good side Bryantinfl. But that has been my position all through this thread. In fact that has been the underlying question I've been asking all along. We all want true love for ourselves, but want the lesure to judge others by unrealistic standards. It is unfair and demeaning for a man to judge a woman by her body. And it is unfair and demeaning for a woman to judge a man by his bank account.
Whatever a person expects for themselves, they shoud grant to others as well.
And that means love, understanding, compassion, forgivness, patience, everything.
