I suppose it's my fault. After all, I broke the cardinal rule - never go on a first date that requires crossing state lines.
If she was able to kill your sense of adventure for the rest of your life, that is a pity.
The problem may be with the qualifications you look for in a woman. Cute and spicey doesn't exactly equal stable, mature, considerate and loving.
I know a charming happily married couple, where the American man flew to Russia ten years ago for his first date and has lived happily ever after with his blond haired blue-eyed attractive wife who is now a school teacher here.
In corresponding with her, he found her attributes, morals, and femininity more aligned with what he was accustomed to from his mother and gradmother, who were also school teachers, than he could find from any women here in the States.
Many women in the States seem to have lost a sense of dignity, self-worth and love which is required in order to treat others with dignity, consideration and worth. And they have especially lost a sense of quiet calm that allows one to be totally in the moment with the person you are with. Most of them are talking about somewhere else and some even talking WITH someone else on their cell phones when they are supposed to be with you. | |

Most of us Canadian girls yes are good and fun etc......
You sound like a genuinely nice guy
So forget her and her nerve!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I personally when I was on here never dated too far from home so then if a no show or no chemistry etc no big deal right
Don't let that inconsiderate person discourage you and remember we are all meeting strangers to begin with so ya never know!

In the UK last year where I travelled 300 miles to Scotland hired a b&B to look round Glasgow with a girl whom Id got on really well on the net.. when I got there I saw her for a few hours and she phoned to say her husband had come back (didnt know she was married) and wouldnt be seeing me at all or showing me the sights.as planned before... middle of winter too..so I do take your point not to go too far in future!

Posted: 11/18/2006 6:28:06 PM | dude thats brutal. i feel ya, took that train ride myself. but it all worked out for me! but ya i hand that hole scenario concieved through my head so i was prepared. not to say you wheren't,but that hole unique way of motivation is the key. you did right dude, theres no shame in tryin and putting your good foot forward, show character all in good fath . not to many people fallow in thoses steps . all that hart to hart stuff is all good but theres a unfortunate price to pay most of the time when we jump on that trian.
bye the way dude- id do it all over too. and for that women ( what comes around will go around) and who knows maybe that was her round dude, she just misses out. for the way i c it you could of been her night and shinning armour. u get it. dude dont stop hopen trains, there fun. Peace | |

Posted: 11/20/2006 7:11:43 AM | | hi! what a joke! i can't believe what i've just read! you sound like a good man though and im sure good things will come your way! . something worse (on a totally different scale) has happened to me. i went to meet a girl in london (47 miles, lol) and we hit it iff great so agreed another date and it transpired that it was at a friends party in london where we drunk for 6 hours.....anyway.....back at hers we went to get it on ....and i went to change in the bathroom, got down to my boxers ready to go out and 'explore' and there she was (in double) looking beautiful in just her lil pants, so as i walked over to the bed i could feel my stomach pounding and before i knew it i had vomited all over her bed and it was dripping down my stomach ( i wished the ground could have swallowed me up) , i tried to chance things by asking if she fancied going to a different room! she told me to get out and that she felt really sick! worth a try! hope that makes you feel better mojo! | |

This guy I know has invited many ladies to come see him, he is very handsome for his age. He told me that he hangs back in the background in a hat and sunglasses and if the ladies are not representive of their pictures, he leaves them there. Stranded at the airport and wont answer their calls!!!!!! I was absolutely shocked!!!!!!!! This person is no longer a friend of mine, but youve got to be careful and really get to know the person you want to go visit. Maybe meet in a neutral city where you have friends. Just be on your guard and protect your own interests. | |

I have to agree! I don't what it is about the social culture in Canada. The farther west you go, the more ****y and stuck up we are. We're socially cliquey, meaning you have to be in our social group orbit or you will be treated like a street beggar, like crap. One person made an observation about BCers as being stuck up ***holes, in Vancourver and even more so in the BC capital city of Victoria. Sure, not 100% of the people are stuck up and have sucky attitude, but the nice ones seem rare to find.
The virginal traveller comes here all innocent and "thinks" they are going to meet lots of loose fun people, hah! We locals know better! We eventually tell them how it is here beneath the surface and they are shocked. Then they look more carefully and they start to notice the social iron curtain too. I wouldn't take this seriously if I were you. If you do so, you'll only get scammed. | |

This is where you made your first mistake:

Just because a woman seems like she is interested doesnt mean that she is...I will elaborate on this later.
You never ever let a woman lead.....NEVER
Women do not like men that allow them to do this, although they will never admit it. You must set your own agenda, have a specific plan in mind and let her always be the follower...it is only then that a woman will respect you.

Of course women will woo you into the net to see how good a catch she can get...thats why they are called "woooomen"....she simply deemed you as somebody that she had no interest for and thats it. The fact that you spent money and time to come out and see her...means nothing to her because it is not about her, it is not something that she wants at this moment therefore it is deemed irrelevant.

What is inexcusable is your lack of understanding of women. Women for the most part are cold hearted and self centered, especially to nice guys like you.

Dont travel 1500 for a first date.
Never let a woman lead. Not becasue she is particularely bad or has evil intentions...but because the minute you as a man rescind the leadership role to an irrational, cold hearted and self centered creature such as a woman...you will end up flat on your a&&. And NEVER put all your eggs in one basket; you should have checked for hotels on line, and booked car rental, or at least find out about buslines, railcars, etc that you could take. Never depend on one person alone. That's only setting yourself up for dissappointment and hurt, not to mention alot of waiting and alot of extra money spent. | |

You can't let a woman lead if there is someone clearly doing any real leading. You can rule out things to do and where to do them based on her circumstances, but you do have to take the lead in what you two will be doing. It becomes harder in foreign terrority that they're used to, which is why you feed off her suggestions and likes, and your inquiries about the area, and you go from there. I guess it's more of the tone you set BEFORE you go out there. I don't think that was the downfall of everything, but it helped to make sure things collapsed in the end...
... because she was probably still involved in drama with another guy, if not already taken. If she was just here for the forums, and a conversation turned to interest, don't feel so incredibly special. Her interests lye elsewhere, whether they're joyful interests or not. She didn't go out on a limb to see you, it was the opposite. Many women who are in relationships, divorces, or still emotionally involved with someone else, can be happy to meet someone if the circumstances align right. You chased her, she went with it... and when you guys met, she wasn't that interested.
It sucks that she wouldn't at least sit down and let ya know that it'd be best to be just friends, since you went all the way out there. Some women will not call a guy they're not interested in, no matter how much they leave them hanging, and then yap about how guys are so mean or won't call after hooking up with them... That's why nobody, girl or guy, should bend over backwards and try and meet someone far away, unless they won't mind getting 'dissed in foreign territory. | |
