| The WORST Plenty Of Fish story you will EVER hear Posted: 11/1/2007 11:15:23 AM | | How about..you chat to a guy for a couple of weeks...see him on webcam...looks awesome......well let me tell you something..I met him for 5 minutes face to face and that was enough for me, he looked better on cam NOT in person. I made up an excuse that I had to go. Got to work and my private line rings...it's him (nope didn't give him the number)...I answer....he sounded weird..almost obsessive...I tell him again I have to go, I'm working. I go home, my MSN on my computer is sounding off...it's him...writing all this stuff, must have been 50 messages on my MSN....I tell him I'm busy and I'll talk to him later...Went to my kitchen to make supper, MSN sounds off for the next hour...I chat to my friend on MSN, ignoring him....my home phone rings (nope didn't give him the number there either)....rings 10 different times....my voicemail box was full....creepy messages from this guy.....had to block him from MSN.....I'm on POF 3 days ago...he IM's me...I ignore it....IM's me 8 times...Ignored it...this happened 3 nights in a row.....STALKER is the word that comes to mind here......To finally get rid of him I emailed him on POF saying, stop IM'ing me, send me an email back so I can block you....ok I knew he was stupid but that was the ultimate....he answered me back and I blocked him....... | |

| The WORST Plenty Of Fish story you will EVER hear Posted: 11/8/2007 6:26:04 PM | | I am sorry to hear that you had such a hard time. The truth with kids is that things do come up and sometimes there is nothing that you can do about it. The other possibility was that you were not what she expected and maybe she was the one that was truly dissappointed? | |

| The WORST Plenty Of Fish story you will EVER hear Posted: 11/9/2007 4:24:35 AM | | It doesn't matter what vibe she picked up..she could have been woman enough to talk to him face to face..that was despicable and cowardly imo. I believe you when you say no pressure and you both were going to just have some fun..really sorry that happened to you as a person and that you made it home safely. | |

| The WORST Plenty Of Fish story you will EVER hear Posted: 11/9/2007 4:31:34 AM | | No we don't bring it on ourself reaching out and trusting another human..people should take responsibility for their own actions!..this day & time its always someone elses fault..not!..you mess someone over it might not be today or tomorrow..BUT..karma will bite in your butt when you least expect it..I don't cut folks slack anymore on their actions..what she did to him was reprehensible (hope thats the correct spelling). I have met a few people that I didn't care for them or their ways but I always was straight up..never ever would I strand someone..not good.. | |

| The WORST Plenty Of Fish story you will EVER hear Posted: 11/9/2007 6:21:35 PM | Okay... This is not a POF story however I do feel the story is right on the same subject line since it's similar :D
Sooo.. I had been talking to this person online a lot for quite some time, and for a few months on the phone. It did seem as if there was some interest between us however it was decided we were just going to meet in person and hang out as friends. I traveled to Kirksville, Missouri which is a really really small town where the airport is basically a shed in the middle of a field. I've never been the ONLY person on commercial flight before. (Other then the two pilots) I arrived to town, and she met me at the airport. I was to stay with her in her dorm room over the weekend. (In another bed obviously..) We spent some time together roaming around the town and just getting to know each other when she got a call from her "family" who were supposedly sick. She brought me to a hotel (the only one in town I think) and I was stuck there until the end of my trip. She never contacted me after dropping me off there in any form. The 2nd day I was stuck in a town that I didn't know with no transportation (it's not like they had a car rental place..) I was roaming through town and in passing her school I noticed that her car was there. Funny thing... I was told she was driving to St Louis to see her parents immediately the night before. A person later told me that she lied about not having a boyfriend, and that's why she flipped out that night. He decided to come visit her.
This hasn't really discouraged me from talking to people online.. however I will be a lot more cautious before flying a crop duster into Kirksville, MO

| The WORST Plenty Of Fish story you will EVER hear Posted: 11/9/2007 8:13:58 PM | HOLY CRAPOLA! "EVOLDICA'S" post emphasizes WHY those online should NOT do the weeks, months, etc communication. Ridiculous!
If you first communicate...should be within DAYS to the "cut to the chase"....phone, then meet face to face. PERIOD! Get it on the table off the bat! WHY would you want to email/call/IM for weeks and weeks...only to later discover you are very incompatible? Hello?
I am of the "cut to the chase" school. Works.

| The WORST Plenty Of Fish story you will EVER hear Posted: 11/9/2007 9:26:14 PM | These stories just reinforce some things:
1. Women, do a background check before you either invite someone to your space or travel to meet them in their space.
2. Always have a back up plan. Do your research of the area and things you might be interested in seeing on your own. Make your own hotel reservations and check on the availability of auto rental.
3. Don't travel someplace, expecting the other party to provide you with a free vacation place to stay and entertainment.
4.This is why, if your wanting to meet someone from a distance, that both of you traveling to a meet and greet is a good idea. Then if there is no chemistry, there is no pressure and you still get to meet others.
On another site, it became apparent to several of the women, (when they all found out about the others) there was a guy, taking great, 1 week to 2 week vacations all over the country and Canada, getting laid, entertained, wined and dined to different places about every 6 months. After the trips, the women didn't hear from him again.....Not even a NO THANK YOU...

U are definitely a brave soul.......... I would never travel or would let someone travel to meet me. Call me a a chicken or what, but that is why I never date out of my area code. I am not into long distance relationships....... I never in a million years would have someone move/change their life for me and I would never move either...... Anyhoo, at least u did have some fun! | The WORST Plenty Of Fish story you will EVER hear Posted: 11/13/2007 2:38:49 PM | Wow, you joined back in 2004 and your account is still open...this is the first thread I've seen with somebody's account opened that long. Although, I'm sure you have gotten over this bad experience, I'll have to say your story was long but written in a way that kept me interested...I have some insights into this so I'll reply.
Some people don't like to give bad news and that's because nobody likes to receive them. It's harder to do it in person, or to even tell a person by phone. So they will just let things slide and hope you'll take the hint. Some people break up with their bfs or gfs this way. It's not always the most considerate way because most people would like to be informed and have some closure.
Like you said you guys hit it off before meeting and that probably made it harder for her to tell you she wasn't interested. I'm sure she's still a nice person otherwise. She could have been a very sensitive and emotional person, and these types tend to have a harder time to tell others bad news from the heart to someone else's heart. Not that you wouldn't be strong enough to take it...that's just the way it is. Despite the way that ended and what you know about her, you'll have to decide for yourself whether she's really the sensitive/emotional type or inconsiderate/heartless type. It is too bad you traveled that far...seemed you had a lot more expectations out of it than she did.

| The WORST Plenty Of Fish story you will EVER hear Posted: 11/13/2007 2:52:44 PM | | Don't travel so far to meet a girl next time. And if you do, make your OWN travel arrangements. Book your own flight, get your own hotel reservations. Rent a car. Do it yourself. That way, if you are unhappy in the situation, you can change plans and do something else. | |

| The WORST Plenty Of Fish story you will EVER hear Posted: 11/13/2007 8:04:44 PM | I have read a couple stories of guys going to a girls town , and vice versa and being left high and dry. Why the hell woundnt you meet in a neutral city, That way you kill two birds with one stone, Get a weekend away, No disturbances and if it doesnt work out, you get to check out a town,,IE fly to montreal for the weekend and meet there, It neutral turf..No one has an advantage, and you get to know each other undisturbed,,Also either can bugger off in a second if he or she is a freak...
Dont get..Invite someone to you town, if they are a freak, dump them at the hotel and pray they arent psychos as they know where you live now
