More likely that the nerds of the school wind up with all the brains.. (As far as just raw intelligence goes...) because...... duh.. theyre nerds...

That does NOT mean that EVERY man is the same way and that EVERY man will do us "women" the same exact way our ex's have done us and treated us.
It may take all of us a while to find THE ONE and to find somebody who will not treat us like shit and walk all over us like our, ex's done but nobody said "any" of us had to stick around and stay in the realtionship while he/she was treating us like shit. right? | |

The truth is that brains, good looks, and athletic ability all go together. The Alpha males have brains. Look at Bill Clinton. Look at Sarah Hughes. Gold medal figure skater. A ten in looks, a ten in athletic ability, and a ten in brains. Going to Harvard and may have scored a perfect score in her ACT.

also there were plenty of dorky kids that didn't meet the stereotyped appearance. Last I remember too alot of the jock and popular kids had to have good grades to stay in their groups and teams. | |

Im only speaking in generalities based on my own perception of the world I live in.... and no matter how vague or specific the words are... everyone posting is doing so based on their own perception of the world... Im not even gonna speak about the issue.. its a dead issue... we all have our own idea of the "Alpha Male.." or the "nerd" or the "fat bully kid" but the simple truth is... . people come in all shapes and sizes... and categories... and subcategories... etc... | |

First, a romantic relationship/marriage is sex. How important is sex? Even after a marriage ceremony has been performed there is no marriage until the couple has sex in order to consummate the marriage.
Consummate: To complete (a marriage) with the first act of sexual intercourse after the ceremony. (dictionary.com)
The second misconception is one can be "trained" to like sex. People believe if couples are not sexually compatible one can change or adapt. Well, it's not likely to happen. Ever try to change someone? Imagine trying to change something as fundamental as a person's sex drive, an innate drive. It just does not happen.
Wait to find out if a person is sexually compatible? Why on earth would anyone do that? One is expected to be faithful in a marriage meaning if two people are not sexually compatible they will spend the rest of their life being sexually unfulfilled. Who, in their right mind, would take that chance? | |

Ya, so what if your "Alpha Male" just decides he wants some variety. Not that he doesn't enjoy being with you, but, hey he says, I'm Alpha Male - Conquerer of all Snatch - King of the Bush Jungle
Set your standards, if you want an Alpha male, just make sure he's a faithful one.
As for me saying/implying that all males are ar$eholes. This is not true. My meaning was "If a man cheats he's an a$$hole". So if you define an Alpha male as someone who stray's, then by my definition, he's an a$$hole"
I, for one, do not think that I could wait until marriage. Of course, I'm older and don't necessarily see marriage in my future. And lately, I don't see sex in my future either,  , but I digress.
Marriage requires a lot of compatibility. If I was convinced, based upon a preponderance of the evidence at hand, that the sex would be compatible, then and only then, would I be willing to wait. But, this is a very high standard and the evidence required (in the absence of the actual deed) would have to be very convincing. | |

It is important to know yourself and be true to yourself. To love soemone with having sex is great... but that is friendship... not a "relationship"... a relationship, is two people against the world, i got your back, you've got mine... we fifill each other and try hard to give each other what we need.
It would be an incredibly romantic thing to do... to wait until you make such a noble sacrifice such as binding yourself in a potentially disasterous union, just to prove how civil you are. Respecting a woman and believing in your love is a grand display of loyalty, trust, etc...
but myself, I am too realistic to suffer sexual torture to show my love...
I would have to worry that the desire to abstain from sex until marriage comes from some book of religious dogma, or potentially aweful experiences (rape, bad sex, medical problem). Or perhaps some romantic notion developed after having many partners, or perhaps the fact that they hate sex, or maybe just feel the need to make men jump through hoops or be extremely controling, or some other thing.
I contend that the "perfect woman" for me would be a realist, love sex, (including oral!), be openminded, free thinking, intelligent enuf to understand what makes a good relationship... etc.

Adriana...you remind me so much of me at your age, cept without the snobby high and almighty attitude. I too had made a decision that I would stay a virgin until I got married. I was raised in a very strict catholic household, and I believed that was my "gift" to my future husband. I don't regret my decision, and I commend you on yours. If you believe that its what you want then by all means kudos to you....But please don't live in a fantasy world like I did, because I'll tell you what ended up happening to me...
I met my so called "alpha male" tall, dark, good looking, smart and athletic.He said all the right things, and everything he did was so romantic, from poetry to flowers. In my innocent mind he would never cheat on me, how could he? He had me, the one he chose and the one who saved herself for him. The one who would do anything to keep him happy sexually, physically, mentally...as time went on, my fairytale became reality, not only did he cheat on me, there was mental and physical abuse, and basically I was just somebody that cooked and cleaned for him, brought home another paycheck, raised our children for him, what more could he want? And boy let me tell you, it was such a great feeling to find out one of his affairs was taking place while I was in the hospital having his child!
Theres nothing I can do to make you see things my way, except to say I lived it, and it was quite miserable.
In a way I don't blame your way of thinking...I know in my case it was my upbringing that gives us these ideas that we need to find that perfect male....just keep in mind, theres no such thing as perfect, and just because the shell is nice doesn't mean the heart is...good luck | |

nobler: Sex behaviourists have been saying for a long time that many women don't understand their own bodies or how to enhance their sexual experience. So, there has been a lot of information produced to help women and the men who love them, to understand the female body better. (Dvd sets, books, cds, sex therapists, etc.)
Men of all ages should look into these sources because many of you lads, have no idea how to please a woman. Sorry, but it's true. This is no secret to women and sexual behaviourists.
Of course...part of the problem is that many women don't know what they want, so, they can't tell you what does it for them. Catch 22. The other part of the problem is that men think women experience sexual pleasures in the same manner that they do. It's simply not true. (No, I'm not talking obvious anatomical differences. lol)
The good news is that women who are frustrated sexually, can do something about it, more often then naught. If the heart is in it, the body will follow...unless there is a medical problem. If a woman can masturbate and orgasm by herself, she can do this with a partner, as well.
Both men and women can suffer from sexual dysfunction. Sometimes women lose their sex drive after having children. There are treatments for this. Sometimes men lose their ability to maintain or even get erections. There are treatments for this, as well. There is no reason to not have a healthy sex life, whatever life throws at you. | |

Posted: 2/19/2006 11:20:47 AM | I would much rather have a nice guy than someone who cheats on me or treats me poorly. I deserve better than that! While looks carry some weight in what I am looking for, the most emphasis is on how healthy the fellow looks rather than specific hair coloring or perfection. Being either excessively thin or heavy are indicators of possible health problems, so I look more for someone in good health than perfect looks. I also view this as: How well does he treat himself? If he treats himself well there's a chance he'll treat me well. This is not always true, however so it takes a bit of time to figure out if a guy is truly a nice guy or a real jerk. I want to be in it for the long haul so I look at other aspects of a man than mere looks. His attitude, values, accomplishments, and personality are the key considerations for the long haul. Muscles, great looks and a winning smile are simply icing on the cake if the guy is also nice, and has the character to succeed in a marriage.
I agree with New-Beginnings--I would much rather make love to someone I love deeply and to whom I am committed rather than just simply have sex.

They need the emotional connection to get to the physical one. If you show a woman that sex is more important then she is, you've lost her. Thanks, Sintastic. I found out the hard way. (No pun intended.) Thirteen (13) years in a bad sex marriage. After divorcing, my Ex remarried. Two years later she phoned to say she was having problems with her new husband. She said, "You know me. I never really liked sex." So this idea of people believing sex will just fall into place is a fool's dream. I was one of those fools who believed that. Never again.

While it may be unconventional it is not unheard of. More than one prominent male has had a mistress. I think what she's saying is she would rather have a man that is a go-getter, good in business, someone that leads an exciting life rather than settle for a faithful couch potato. | |

Everyman and women in this forum uses Sex as a means to and end.
IT'S ALL ABOUT LOVING AND BEING LOVED..... IT IS AT THE INNER MOST PART OF OUR BEING.
The problem is that the two have mostly nothing to do with each other and the sooner you realizes this the happier you will become.
Sure I would wait till marriage for Sex because I rather have the LOVE then sex anyday of the week.
