| rude emails that spoil your POF experience Posted: 4/1/2006 12:53:56 PM | Hey kitsguy,
I don't want to stereo type, But "Rude ususally begets Rude." When people say they received rude e-mails, we only hear from their side. Maybe this person making the claim was perceived as being rude by someone else. I'm not saying that you can't be totally innocent and yet receive a nasty e-mail, of course it can happen. But I find people are for the most part ok, unless they feel disrespected initially.
And maybe someone says somthing with good spirited humor and the other takes it out of the context in which it was meant and feels offended. There are people who don't have a great sense of humor and some who go a little overboard. I myself am more on the overboard side, but it's all in good fun.

| rude emails that spoil your POF experience Posted: 4/1/2006 12:56:56 PM | Well mandrake you're a guy, you can't imagine some of the emails the women get. Really!! One email they're entranced with you want to spawn children, give you their undying love...blah blah..you write a polite, I don't honestly think we'd be a match...response is you're a worthless shedevil...blah blah. Not even TIME for a mood change...TOO scary!! And then, since I've been involved (for nearly 7 months...hehe) why the HECK do I dare still have a profile here. I'm cheating on my SO (who is ALSO still here) or I'm just wanting men to write to stroke my oversized ego (number of favs...UGH!). Yes, it is true I'm a wicked and heartless temptress. My motives are dark and cold. I know no shame!! WAAA I feel so bad about myself....
Edit: The only hate or rude mail I get is either from someone who hasn't taken a PEEK at my profile, only scanning pics or a reply to one of my forum posts. I NEVER write a rude email myself, or not a first one anyway.

| rude emails that spoil your POF experience Posted: 4/1/2006 1:27:52 PM | I get a lot of rude emails all the time due to what my profile says...
if I was to stay way from all the places the idiots hang out at.. i'd have to lock myself in my house and never leave..
some people just have sticks up their bums..
we need to just ignore them.. to much of a waste of energy to even reply to a lot of the rudes ones cause lets face it do we really care what they think?
NOT.. | |

I'm not saying that you can't be totally innocent and yet receive a nasty e-mail, of course it can happen. But I find people are for the most part ok, unless they feel disrespected initially. Red, it appears you and I have the same experience and receive very few rude emails. I have only received one rude email, possibly two if I include a little snooty reply after I told a young guy that I wasn't interested because he was not attending a quality college and, by telling him that, I probably hurt his feelings.
I have serious doubts about women claiming they receive a lot of rude emails. I suspect they consider any email they don't want as being rude. If I wished to stretch it, I might consider an email to be rude that I received from a forty-year-old guy that said, "Marry me Kelley." However, I considered that more of a compliment than rude and I replied that I appreciated the offer but I was only interested in guys near my own age.
I agree that if you are not disrespectful to them, they will not be rude.

| rude emails that spoil your POF experience Posted: 4/2/2006 11:58:57 AM | | Oh puuhhlease! DELETE and BLOCK are my best friends. Just curious if the women who get a lot of these rude emails have their tits hanging out in their pictures. Hmmmmmm. | |

| rude emails that spoil your POF experience Posted: 4/2/2006 2:39:37 PM | I have been getting a lot of rude e-mails. Out of the blue. No snooty comments, etc. preceeded these e-mails either. I rarely reply to those anyway.
I have noticed a distinct decline in rude e-mails since I put up my photos. And no... there are no tatas in my photos.

| rude emails that spoil your POF experience Posted: 4/2/2006 2:45:24 PM | Have only ever gotten one rude email and it was from a guy who hates women. It was real apparent in his posts in the forums, and I sorta socked it to him at some point for being so nasty. I guess that didn't sit well with him. Apparently he was causing a lot of trouble on the site since they have now deleted his profile for the second time. Oh well .....
No problem ... DELETE and BLOCK
Just curious if the women who get a lot of these rude emails have their tits hanging out in their pictures. Hmmmmmm. Nope ... no tits hanging out of my pictures. If I get a rude email, it's probably gonna be from someone who didn't like what I posted in the forums.
I guess you just can't please everybody all the time. Too bad!

| rude emails that spoil your POF experience Posted: 4/2/2006 3:10:44 PM | Unfortunately there is a side of society that houses these sociopathic types. Some poeple don't care that they are hated because they would rather be hated than ignored. Thus the first email to a woman with "Hey, wanna f***?" in it. Plus, remember that if you look at a profile and it says a guy is 23 years old and lives in Omaha Nebraska, you don't have to provide any kind of validation so theprofile can say anything.
LOT'S of people here with multiple profiles, and some have profiles for an alter ego of the other sex, so mail from someone looking to push your buttons might be coming from someone you know with an alter ego.
I get told off a lot, but I just smile and delete.

| rude emails that spoil your POF experience Posted: 4/2/2006 3:17:37 PM | One other thing to consider is that some people are WAY too sensitive. I sent a harmless and HUMOROUS comment to a woman on another system after she posted that she preferred to meet a Steelers fan. We live in Cleveland. People in the stats who know the NFL and the history of the Browns-Steelers rivalry will know what that is all about. It was only something like "Wow, good luck finding a Stillers fan o'vair", written the way we here in northeast Ohio mock the Allegheny accent.
She went off on me like I stole her car and kidnapped her dog with it.
WAY too sensitive times anymore.

| rude emails that spoil your POF experience Posted: 4/2/2006 5:48:56 PM | I just got my first really nasty one, and posted a question about it (How do you respond to hate mail) he called me a 'nigga' and it really hurt. Most of the people here responded very kindly to me and told me to block and report him.
I was almost ready to change my profile preferences and just delete the ones I wasn't interested in, but I did that on another site and spent most of my time cleaning out my mail and I didn't want to do that anymore. I just wanted to be me. It's the reason I came here.
Thanks to them - you know who you are - I'll stick around a bit and hopefully find someone to be really good friends with, or maybe more. If as the first response says, she comes back, then great. If not, we would still like to have you around.

| rude emails that spoil your POF experience Posted: 4/2/2006 5:52:55 PM | | Mandrake, it was me who sent you that e-mail. Often I look at someone's profile if I like their post and send them a comment. It could be that the one I sent you made no sense (usually I write late at night) but the only point I was trying to make was that it's good that you like solitude if you live in Nova Scotia because Nova Scotia is so sparsely populated (I shouldn't have used the word "empty"). So you sent me an e-mail saying that if I wanted to see "empty" I should look in the mirror. I spent about 10 minutes writing a very apologetic e-mail to you but then couldn't send it because you had blocked me. So I'm taking this heaven sent opportunity to apologize in public and say I really didn't mean to be rude at all. I just won't send that type of general e-mail any more - and I should also not be composing e-mails at 1 or 2 in the morning. They obviously make no sense! | |
