It is also every imaginative concept and drug-induced vision as they are part of what IS. Reality cannot be known in its entirety, only described or abstracted, and only through personal and shared experiences and measurements, such as those of gravity or quantum effects. Most of physical reality is an illusion of substance - it is mostly empty space and energy fields, whatever that IS.
I usually think of it as Tao. | |

who ever remembers dreaming while in awake?
who ever remembers that one cannot sleep forever?
who ever remembers that one must die?
who ever remembers his dreams, while he is awake?
who ever remembers his awake, while he is in a dream?
who ever remembers this, will remember, life is no different then a dream, yet its all up to the dreamer to decide, what is and what isnt!

Point of Clarification...Sky I think you meant no one has the ability to force a different form of reality on you and enforce it if it differs from your personal preception??? Perhaps???
I ask because many people have the "right" to tell you what reality is, and that is borne out in your caveat about laws... Which we "jointly" agree upon as needing to be in existence and therefore enforced due to consenus based preceptions of specific phenomena as "real"...right?

If one holds a solid object in their hand out from the body and releases that object, it will fall. Gravity is the 'reality' that governs that event. In his cave allegory Plato discussed reality. He said it is as if most people are sitting in a cave chained in such a was that they can only see the back of the cave. The figures they see moving along the back of the cave, they assume to be reality. One of these people escaped their chains and went out of the cave. What they saw was that someone had made an image of the "REAL" object and was moving that image across the front of the cave in such a manner that the person in the cave saw the shadow of an image of the real object. In the far-East there is the word 'MAYA" which means illusion. The idea is that our five senses deal with illusions rather than REALITY or if we are using sensory perception we are at least two degrees removed from reality. Hope this helps.

Chuang Tzu dreamed that he was a butterfly.
All day long, he floated on the breeze
