Hot bacon and the lack of clothing except for an apron....now there's an extreme sport or fear factor!

Love it~! Its my relaxation .. I enjoy tinkering in the kitchen (some people tinker on cars.. i prefer the kitchen) ... it allows me to experiment, try to duplicate things ive had and like, in some aspects its as much of a creative hobby outlet kind of thing, as it is a way to fuel the body ..

Its also nice to be able to prepare something tasty for those (very) rare occasions I am fortunate enough to have a dinner guest.. Tiz always a bonus when you the dinner partner enjoys the dinner and one gets an appreciative smile.

yeppers.. cooking is fun -- a "chemistry lab kit" for non chemists.. **chuckling**

ps .. but i suck at doing dishes though.. **laughing**

re: baking and not experimenting enough. It's hard to experiment when baking cause if you make a wrong choice,,,, it's not just bad,,, it's horrible. BUT, i was semi-forced to take a twist in the normal "acceptables" several yrs ago and you might enjoy it. Everyone that has tried this LOVED it. You know how our folks taught us to add pudding to our cake mixes(back before it came already in it)??? Welllllll,, one day i was forced to add butterscotch pudding to my yellow cake cause i was all out of vanilla. It didn't turn out all "butterscotchy",, just incredibly rich and moist. Even the kids eat every crumb (topped with chocolate icing).

I absolutely LOVE to cook.... I grew up with home cooked meals and there is something that cannot be replaced by food cooked by a person who enjoys not only cooking but pleasing the people they care about. I love cooking for my friends and family. I'm not big on backing but I'm not a sweet eater and that is probably why. It amazes me how some people just do not like to cook and don't.

I had a friend once and we were all talking, and she mentioned that when I got upset she loved to come to my house, the other friend was like "WHY would you want to be around her when she's upset about things" and my friends says "OH MY GOD, when she's upset.. she cooks.. and I want to be on the receiving end of that".. LOL

As a chef, i am passionate about cooking, there`s nothing more enjoyable than the look on someones face when take the first mouthful of something that they enjoy that has specially been made for them. I have to say, but i abhor people who people who treat cooking and cuisine as some sort of mystical art, ie. stuck up food critics. As most people know the cooking part is the easy bit, it`s hours of prep that`s the hardest. At work we only cook for about 3 hrs, but that`s maybe after 7 hrs of prep. Not to mention the fun that can be had whilst doing all the prep and the closeness that can be acheived within the family home when everybody mucks in. Sadly family cooking is rapidly becoming a lost practise, too many people opting out for convenience foods, `ding food`, and takeaways, you don`t even have to go to the t/away. There was survey done in the Uk, where they took a variety of fresh fruit and veg into a primary school (grade school in the US...I think), the sad thing is less than half of the young kids actually knew what they were, and one kid, believe or not thought a carrot was a banana. What the bloody hell are some parents teaching their children, it`s little wonder there are so much obesity in young children these days. With proper home cooked food, the children are getting a nutrisionally ballanced meal with all the right vitamins and mineral, instead of packaged food jammed packed with sugar, salt and a cornacopia of pharmacutical products.

I watched the "Jamie Oliver" series where he tried to change the school lunch program. Was both funny as well as sad to think that the average parent didn't care enough about their children to even learn what they were getting fed.

Now THAT guy is passionate. I'm sure his passion rises when he is on camera but he just seems to make it all so simple

Yes I absolutely enjoy cooking. Sometimes though I must admit you get home and you really don't feel like doing it because what the real treat of cooking is making something from scratch without the recipe, just opening up the cupboard and seeing what kind of magic you can make happen, that's what I really enjoy about cooking. Having someone to cook for too is a definite motivation to make something really worth while. But unless I have a really exquisite kitchen to create something with I usually don't bother. Was a Pastry Chef for 2 years, the creativity has to flow being in that department. The chemistry of cooking can make some pretty magnificient things. Sometimes I would make these amazing Bailey's Cheesecake and I really couldn't believe that I made it, as I learned everything from a Chef at work, I had no prior experience whatsoever so being able to take all the teachings in that small amount of time I was quite surprise. Remember people, you can keep it really simple and make wonderful things in the kitchen, doesn't have to take hrs and hrs to make, mix those flavors up!!! Be creative!!

Oh and I almost forgot... inspiration is the key...

Cheers!

Love it.

Hate eating what I make for days afterwards.

I need another mouth to feed in order to really get my groove on in the kitchen.

But when I do, I'm inspired. Making chocolate-stuffed croissants in the nude after a few hours of .... oh, I distracted myself. ;-)

Yes, and for me, it's a "guy" thing; like having a lot of tools in the garage, it's fun to have "tools" in the kitchen, you know, all the gadgets you need to make just about anything. I cook for myself 6-7 days a week, and enjoy doing so. I don't bake, because that's a little too precise for me. I like to cook, sometimes follow recipes, sometimes make things up as I go along. If I don't like the outcome, there's always peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, but that doesn't happen often, haha. Cooking is fun, and sharing a good recipe with someone else is always nice, and it gives you a sense of accomplishment, making something edible. My 2-cents.....

Most people, when they are under stress, either gain or lose weight. My weight is always the same; my mental health is reflected in my freezer--when it is full, I know I need to fix something in my life. I play with food in proportion to the stress in my life. I rarely eat because I am hungry; I need to tempt myself.
I live alone and when I cook, I feed the neighbors; I've rationalized it to them that you can't make a bowl of soup; you have to make a pot of soup. Can't make A cookie; you have to bake a BATCH of cookies. (They love me.)
Also, way, way back in my first go-round as a single, I learned to treat myself as a guest. One evening, I was grilling a rack of lamb (encrusted with garlic and rosemary) and one of my neighbors walked by and asked me if I cook that way when it is only me. My answer, "Well, if I don't do it, who will?"
It is a good thing for me when, after a long or bad day, I take my time to sip a glass of wine and enjoy something that someone (being ME!!) took the time to make for me. As if I were a guest.
Now, what to do with all of the soup and cookies in the freezer . . . .

I love cooking, for me I had to learn to cook everything on my own, flat our trial and error, good home made biscuts, home made gravys, learning what spices went with what...but now, I can cook anything, eye it, no measuring. Some of my best dishes now is fried chicken, biscuts, cornbread dressing, and any flavor cheesecake you want.
