Still trotting through Dan Brown's Angels and Demons.

Damn good read (although I've been reading it on and off now for almost a year LOL!) and much better than The Da Vinci Code in my opinion.

I hear they're going to make a movie based on this book. Let's just hope they don't balls it up like they did with Da Vinci (even though I've yet to see the film LOL!)

I'm currently reading "White Dragon" by Anne Mcaffrey. I love sci-fi/ fantasy books myself. Several other great books to read is "There wil be Dragons" by John Ringo and "The Symphony of Ages" trilogy starting with "Rhapsody" by Elizabeth Haydon.
If your in the mood for something funny filled with puns in the fantsy genre go with any book by Piers Anthony and his world called Xanth.
Michael Chrichton had a very good book called "Prey". These are a few of my last reads.

I also read all the books in the Wheel of Time series and from what I know he left extensive notes and outlines for someelse to complete the series. One last series of books to read is "the War of Light and Shadow" which starts off with "The Curse of the Mistwraith" by Janny Wurts

I always have a book on the go - currently reading Break no Bones by Kathy Reichs books before the tv series bones....not bad but can't really say as I just started this one. I liked the previous one I read of hers.

I am glad so many ppl responded. I am always looking for new authors and new books. facebook has an "i read" application which i like that lets you peruse books and you can see what your friends have read and their ratings.

The Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer and The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. Both are fun, with great character development. Twilight deals with vampires and Sword deals with fantasy, wizards and magic.

I just started "Genghis Kahn and the making of the modern world." I like to read alot of non-fiction and so far it's pretty good. I've read on the subject before, but it's always cool to go back and learn new things.

I tend to read a few at a time. I lean towards the James Patterson, Dean Koontz, Patricia Cornwell, Dan Brown and Nora Roberts/JD Robb. I will say that I liked "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown better than the DaVinci Code. I just finished reading the "Odd Thomas" series by Dean Koontz along with Nora Roberts "Blood Brothers" (the first in a series to come). Currently reading "Absolute Fear" by Lisa Jackson but have never read anything by her before.

When in doubt, I go back to reading the classics over or just going through some of my books of poems.

Any recommendations for some authors out there?

"The Road" by Cormac McCarthy (pretty depressing & bleak in places)
"The House of God" by Samuel Shem (medical folks will appreciate this)
Elbert Hubbard's ScrapBook (It's never the same twice. Love it.)
"House of Leaves" by Mark Danielewski (It's not for you.)
"The Idiot Girls' Action-Adventure Club" by Laurie Notaro (fun frivolous female read)
and finally... "Historical Fiction"

Burglars Cant Be Choosers By Lawrence Block. I found my new boyfriend. He has several books so I will be involved for a few weeks. Should I change my profile to email only or not looking?

I also liked Chow Down by Laurien Berenson and she has a entire mystery series that is about dogs and dogs shows. Great for the dog lover,Patterson,Cornwall type.

Just finished La Prisonnierre - excellent book

Unbelievable what the human spirit can endure! True stora about Malika Oufkir and her brothers and sisters - 20 years ub a desert goal / prison. The baby was improsined at the age of 3!

Amazing that this happened in the 70's and lasted until 1996!

Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. Two excellent writers that do an almost parody of the Omen movies with the originality of both writers.

I like many of the same authors that you have listed....

Try Swan Song by Robert McCammon... very post nuclear, apocolyptic, good vs evil kind of story.... an amazing read. Very well written... the kind of book that keeps me turning pages well into the wee hours even though I've read it several times... LOL.

Right now I'm on a JD Robb kick.....

Read a couple by H.G. Wells ("The Time Machine" and "The Invisible Man")....Interesting books but after reading several by Wells I can not say he is my favorite writer......

I also read "The Alchemist" by Brazilian author Paulo Coelho as recommended by this forum, interesting theme.....

"Epicenter" by Joel C. Rosenberg......The theme is about eschatology.....This book delves into the how and why he wrote his other best selling novels....

Finishing Dale Browns "Air Battle Force"..............I am going to have to start at the beginning of the series.......really enjoying this author......

North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell but since you're more of a fantasy or sci-fi fan perhaps....try Stranger in a Strange Land by Heinlein. IMHO is the best Sci Fi Book I've read in years but other my differ. It has a good sense of humor to it which is probably why I like it. Good luck.
