North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell but since you're more of a fantasy or sci-fi fan perhaps....try Stranger in a Strange Land by Heinlein. IMHO is the best Sci Fi Book I've read in years but other my differ. It has a good sense of humor to it which is probably why I like it. Good luck.

Fantastic book as was Angels and Demons. I was hooked with them both from start to finish. Also loads of interesting facts in there that i had to check up on to see if they were true.

Kids are worth it! by Barbara Coloroso--not for children, but for reparenting myself.
Not Turning Away : an anthology of articles about the practice of engaged Buddhism.
The City of Joy by Dominique LaPierre--the streets of Calcutta.
Confidence : How Winning Streaks and Losing Streaks Begin and End by Rosabeth Moss Kanter .

I keep several books going ... all were excellent...need a new crop.

I just finished Small Favor (Book 11) by Jim Butcher. If you caught the "Dresden Files" series on the Sci-Fi Channel last year, this is the series it was based on. BTW, while I liked the tv series a lot, the books are MUCH better.

If you like detective stuff try J. D. Robb and Richard North Patterson, and if you like it with a sense of humor, the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich is pretty good.

Favorite sci-fi/fantasy authors are Patricia Briggs, Alan Dean Foster, Mercedes Lackey, SIMON R. GREEN, Raymond Feist, Kelley Armstrong, Anne McCaffery, Kim Harrison, and Laurell K. Hamilton.

For horror, if you've never read him, Robert McCammon is the best, and yes that includes King. Phillip Margolin, Bruce Elliott and Michael Slade are more in the thriller vein.

And finally, if you need a laugh, it's tough to argue with Christopher Moore, Pat McManus or Tom Holt.

Sorry to ramble, but I AM a librarian and a bibliophile.

So Help Me God, by Roy Moore. Worth a read for a behind-the-scenes look at the media circus and a great grounding in Constitutional law.

I loved The Traveler -- did you start The Dark River yet?

My last good book read is the one I'm finishing up now -- Beggars in Spain by Nancy Kress. Sci fi -- very good writing. (I just struggled to get through His Illegal Self by Peter Carey, so Beggars in Spain is a VERY refreshing change -- love Kress's style; already requested the second in the series so it's ready for me when I finish this one.)
