| Am I wrong? What is your favorite cheese? Posted: 1/21/2006 6:28:47 AM | Favorites are extra extra extra old cheddar.. Feta in salads and on pizza.
I made a new cheese ball recipe for a Christmas gathering, and it disappeared within minutes. Mix softened cream cheese with some freshly grated garlic and cracked pepper. Form into a ball and put in the fridge to chill. In the meantime, mix some brown sugar and butter in a small saucepan and stir until the butter and sugar melt. Remove from stove and mix in a few drops of vanilla and a handful of chopped pecans. Let this cool, in the fridge, for about 15 minutes, then coat the cheese ball. I found that if I put it in the fridge, and went back to it in 5minutes that I could scoop the bit of topping that slid off and spread it back over the ball. Yummy!!!

Powdered and plastic enshrouded cheese is pure garbage and I'd rather die than eat it...
...Yes, I know my pic is a beautiful woman...but she is Italian, and I'm sure you know how Italian women are. ;) It takes every minute of every day of my time to satisfy her... :D

What about smoked cheddar??
We tried this apple-wood smoked cheddar this weekend, and it was gone instantly. I am picking up a few chunks of cheese tonight, and this will be among them.
Anyone have a particular piece that I should grab. I am perfectly able to select a cheese, but thought I would try suggestions from one of my friends here.

Double Gloucester English Stilton Lancashire Leicester Derby.... Cheshire
Ah, a fine selection of english cheeses there. The best of the bunch being Stilton, of course.
Interesting fact about Stilton is that it's not actually made in the village of Stilton from which it gets its name.

English Blue Stilton Cheese English Wensleydale Cheese Tuxford English Lancashire Cheese
Try Dominion for others - mine has a huge cheese section and carry 5 or 6 imported English cheeses.

| Am I wrong? What is your favorite cheese? Posted: 2/8/2006 4:34:34 PM | | Harvarti and Blue Cheese are my favorites. I come from the dairy state so my opinion rules. Oh yeah, they don't make those here in Wisconsin. No wonder we don't have happy cows. | |

| Am I wrong? What is your favorite cheese? Posted: 2/9/2006 5:32:05 PM | | I live on cheese! I prefer the milder, not smelling like you know what varieties. I tend to lean towards Cheddar and Italian cheeses. Has anyone ever had home made cottage cheese? It is fantastic. Not low fat, but the taste is wonderful and well worth the extra calories. | |

| Am I wrong? What is your favorite cheese? Posted: 2/9/2006 10:23:18 PM | | Homemade any kind of cheese is great. We have some thread ehre where I posted a recipe for homemade cottage cheese, and a few others. Good stuff. I will never tire of this topic. | |

| Am I wrong? What is your favorite cheese? Posted: 2/11/2006 6:09:29 AM | Yeah...smoked cheddar rules. It and summer sausage are staples on a fishing trip. Colby Longhorn has a great mild flavor. I prefer provolone or baby swiss on sandwiches.
I dunno what the heck it was...but, we'll never forget it... ex and I were trying the samples that they hand out in the grocery store... had a nice mild one and then they slipped us a mickie... we both just popped it in our mouths...and about hurled... stinky feet cheese to the max...YUK! That nasty taste was there even after listerine. Might be why we split up. LOL
