Don't get me wrong... some of the pasteurized stuff can be good, but if you can get the real stuff then go for it!!!

not sure about velveeta, but cheese whiz, i you look at the ingredients, is cheese. that whole thing about it being plastic is goofy. not sure where it came from. i bet if you look at the ingredients of most north american cheeses, the difference between and cheese whiz is very littel. is it good cheese? kids think so. i love cheese and i do love it on toast occasionally.
you know what is likely less cheese like than cheese whiz? the 'cheese' on two-for-one pizza.

| Am I wrong? What is your favorite cheese? Posted: 12/15/2006 10:28:27 AM | | Fake cheese is not very good. I don't really like the processed taste of it. I only use stuff like Velveeta when making homemade mac and cheese as it melts better. Other than that I stick with Sharp Chedder or real Mozarrella. Blue Cheese is real yummy on crackers as well. | |

I do have to admit that 1 box of Velveeta (microwaved) and 1 can of spicy Rotel tomatoes make the BEST quick dip. Give me a ritz and I'm happy!

How do they do it? Add velveeta to a column about CHEESE! it isn't cheese.

But I rarely met a cheese I didn't like. I just unfroze a great super high quality cheese torte I had during new years and had some on crackers for lunch. Cheddar and port wine, swiss in the center, and another layer of cheddar with butter.

However, I do like the white "italian" cheeses.....mozzerella, provolone, parmesan....
I make the following for parties and it always goes over well....
Cheese lovers, rejoice!
Marinated Cheese Appetizer
½ Cup olive oil ½ Cup white wine vinegar 1 (2oz) jar diced pimento, drained 3 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley 3 tablespoons minced green onion 3 tablespoons minced garlic 1 teaspoon sugar ¾ teaspoon dried basil ½ teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon ground black pepper 1 (8oz) package Mozzarella Cheese 1 (8oz) package Chedder Cheese
In a jar with tight fitting lid, combine ingredients (minus the cheese). Shake vigorously to blend. Set aside.
Cut the cheese into slices (thin enough and small enough to fit on a cracker)
Arrange the cheese on a platter in a single layer. Pour marinade from jar over cheese slices and refrigerate for at least 6 hours. Serve with crackers

Mont Enebro - a spanish cheese to die for I also like Mushroom Brie Pie d'angloys - brie x 10 pyrenees with green peppercorns double gloucester and fontina for it's melting qualities

Just before Christmas I tried Dutch Beemster cheese and picked up a chunk despite the hole it produced in my pocket, and it didn't disappoint....everyone who tried it loved it....just plain yummy! Now I'm addicted and will end up in the poor house if I keep eating it!
