| Weight Loss...I'm Confiding in my Fellow Fishies Posted: 5/1/2009 7:58:59 AM | | My best suggestion to losing the weight quickly is to find a physical activity that drives you. Things like martial arts are great for an overall body work out, plus you develop a skill. | |

| Weight Loss...I'm Confiding in my Fellow Fishies Posted: 6/28/2009 1:56:25 PM | I too am fighting the battle against being heavy. I was recently diagnosed as being insulin resistant which apparently makes it extremely difficult to lose weight. I carry all my weight in my middle which of course is the worst place to carry it.
Just curious as to if anyone else on here has had the same diagnoses. Curious to see what has worked for you and what hasn't.
I am sooo happy to finally have been told the reason I couldn't lose weight. Now I am learning how to eat properly to lose weight with the condition.
Any comments or suggestions would be wonderful.
Thx.

| Weight Loss...I'm Confiding in my Fellow Fishies Posted: 7/1/2009 9:33:06 PM | I lost 60 pounds a few years back just from changing my lifestyle. I found once the weight was off, it was easier to do the active things that I wanted to do before. My fat issues? I love snacking. When I read a good book I love eating some kind of bite sized food. When I was a massive fatty, I would eat the WORST kinds of food. So what do I snack on now? -cucumbers with a bit of dill. -plain popcorn...sometimes with dill seasoning or vinegar, salt & flax seeds -fruit bowls -sunflower seeds mmmmm!

| Weight Loss...I'm Confiding in my Fellow Fishies Posted: 7/14/2009 8:46:59 AM | HI. I am helping my client to loose weight every day. I am talking about Hypnosis for Weight Loss. I have about 90% success rate. This is why. Diets don’t work. Scientific research has proven that diets work for less then 10% of people. Diets don’t work at all for emotional eaters. Weight Loss is not about controlling what you eat, it is about human biology.
Starvation is the worse way of loosing weight. It only reinforces obsessive behaviour towards food. Once off the diet, people are gaining even more weight. Body tries to preserve more in case you want to try another diet. Metabolism is changing and you are gaining weight again. Any diet is perfect set up for failure.
The solution is not outside of you. It is in your Mind. Diets fail because diet can’t stop emotional eating, the number one reason why you have been overweight in the past. The solution to Weight Loss is in changing a response to the signals we receive from the brain. You will find yourself being able to deal with the emotions in a healthy way. Without suppressing or ingoting them you will fill in control, your self image will change and will find you are no longer craving those sweets\salty foods. I can talk about this for hours. Any one interested to know the Truth about Weight Loss?

| Weight Loss...I'm Confiding in my Fellow Fishies Posted: 7/15/2009 4:21:34 AM | | When you have metabolic syndrome it's not about what you eat - it's what you don't eat! If you aren't eating enough food your metabolism shuts down and you store food. For like 30 years I would be lucky to eat one meal a day - I just didn't like food and never made time for it - hence screwing my whole system up. The times when I lost the most weight - I'm taking well over 100lbs - was when I grazed on high fiber healthy foods - such as fruits and vegetables. I also had to work out like 5 hours a day at the gym doing aerobics & resistance machines, I walked and took karate. One thing that helps is to simply get up off your ass every time you think something needs to be done - get up and do it - at least you get moving and chores get done! You need a lot of stamina to keep up the lifestyle required to loose the weight when you are insuline resistant. Things such as depression and stress make this doubly hard! Those things must be addressed in order to make things work as well! | |

| Weight Loss...I'm Confiding in my Fellow Fishies Posted: 10/4/2009 10:38:52 AM | I've been on a weightloss journey for 7 months now and have lost 50lbs i have a long way still to go. I started at 284 and I'm 5'7" I've been bouncing in the 230-240 range for about a month now. In dress sizes I went from a 24 to an 18. I'm just not as motived as I was. I've tried alot harder this week and managed to stay under the 240 but I haven't been able to get below 230 it has been very frustrating. I hope to get there by halloween. I have been drink lots of water10-16 glasses and 30 mins or more each day of exercise. I've kept my calorie count at 1200-1400 so I did lose 3 pounds this week I think I would have lost more if I had of cut out more bread. I'm trying to aim for 3-5 pounds a week. I know it is a little more then the recommended 2-4 but I like to set the bar high. if you have any suggests I would greatly appreciate them. If you live in the Orillia area and would like to work out, do a class together at the Y, or just go for a walk I'm always looking for a activity partner that I can motive or that can motive me. just drop me a line
I'd like to encourage all that are losing weight and those that are thinking about it, you need to go for it. the benefits for me have been amazing. if you are interested in reading about my journey or seeing my before and halfway pics just contact me and I'll give you a copy.
good luck to all | |

| Weight Loss...I'm Confiding in my Fellow Fishies Posted: 10/6/2009 6:47:09 PM | | It's been a little while since I posted in this thread. I am at a standstill for weight loss right now, but I have gotten down to 245 lbs., which is a loss of 90 lbs. in total. I recently read about a study done regarding losing weight that said that in order for women to lose weight and keep it off they need to exercise for at least 1 1/2 hours a day. I have a gym membership, but as I never use it I am in the process of setting up a gym in my basement where hopefully I will get the urge to go more than to the gym lol | |
