| They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day... do you agree... what did you have today? Posted: 7/24/2008 4:21:12 PM | I had the last slice, and it was NOT small of my homemade rhubarb pie. Sooooooooooooo yummy!! That was breakfast very early. Later in a.m. I had a traditional breakfast at THE DINER here in Yellowknife. Planning on left-over salmon, cooked broccoli and cornmeal-fried slices of tomato for my evening meal.
Had a half apple and peanut-butter around 3 p.m and a some watermelon at noon.
I just heard from my eldest via phone and we made a breakfast date for tomorrow a.m. at THE DINER. YESSSSSSSSSssss...

Starting a day without sustanence in certainly not healthy, and outdoubtedly may affect both your enery level and possibly mood.(Whose honestly cheerful when thier hungry?).
As for me, I always have cereal(Captain Crunch, Golden Grahams, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Oatmeal Raisin Crisp ect) and toast. Its a great way to wake up with music playing in the background.

Posted: 7/27/2008 11:22:46 AM | | Yes, Breakfast is very important, kick starts your low blood sugar, and helps you to lose weight (I saw a study where the researchers found that having breakfast was crucial to weight loss.) Today, I decided to change it up a bit, had a morning bun that I bought at the Farmer's Market yesterday, with hazelnut coffee, and an orange. But, usually, I have shredded wheat & bran, plain cheerios type of cereal, and fresh berries, now a days, I'm eating blueberries. With aforementioned hazelnut coffee, and unsweetened soy milk. Oh, and an orange.

| They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day... do you agree... what did you have today? Posted: 7/27/2008 1:13:11 PM | Oh, it is the most important meal of the day. It's what supplies your day with the majority of calories and energy to complete the tasks ahead of you.
I usually have oatmeal or maltomeal. Sometimes Fruit or yogurt, and sometimes cereal (usually special K).
I don't wear a watch on my belly, so just about any type of solid food is usually acceptable. I'm a little more picky for dinner and supper... I try to eat a light supper, and a moderately light dinner in the summer.

Posted: 7/27/2008 8:23:57 PM | | ive lost 34 pounds since spring, breakfast is awsome, i feel energy, strength and stamina in the hot sun, when you skip breakfast, your body hangs on to fat cells, but when you eat breakfast, when thats burned off your body says its ok to start burning off the fat cells, you have to feed your body every day like clock work, sometimes my breaky is only two bannanas in warm weather, long as you eat timely, your body says its ok, i have a steady income of food/calories, if you burn those initial calories off , your body says, because i have TIMELY incomming calories, and if i burn thosee off, i can spare to burn off fat cells, because i know possativley that i'm getting more calories at meal time, meal timing is everything, ive lost prolly 300 pounds at a couple different goes at it, is not easy but is within reach, IF you want it bad nuff, and so simple

| They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day... do you agree... what did you have today? Posted: 7/28/2008 9:58:51 PM | I agree. Breakfast is important. But not a sugary/starchy one. (That makes me sleepy later on.)
I eat breakfast with my children every morning. Not a huge breakfast. This morning I had 2 scrambled eggs made from organic free-range eggs with Omega 3 (they seem to taste better.) A bowl of blueberries with Agave Nectar drizzled on them. And some Jasmine Green Tea.
My biggest meal is lunch. Then I sometimes have breakfast for dinner. But usually its a smaller meal like a salad with almonds or cashews. Tonight it was fresh sweet corn. Yum!

| They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day... do you agree... what did you have today? Posted: 7/30/2008 9:23:38 PM | I don't think anyone has yet mentioned my favorite breakfast option. I know it's not the most healthy or sensible breakfast, but a slice of yesterday's pie, whether it's apple, peach, blueberry - whatever. Now and then, a nice slice of a fruit pie and two cups of coffee make breakfast feel like my birthday.
My least favorite breakfast ever was one of my mother's Depression Baby economies. If we popped corn for a family night in, we'd salt it good. Garlic salt was a later innovation. Anyway, Mom always popped a lot of it, so there was usually a bunch left over. The next morning, she'd serve it to us like cereal, with a couple of teaspoons of sugar and skim milk, which was a little cheaper than the whole milk.
Last night's popcorn does not stay crispy in milk. That's all I'm going to say about the experience, except that it helped to teach me that the Depression of the 30's really sucked. That's when Mom was little, and scrimping became a constant challenge for her.
I'm reminded of it more these days because these banking scandals falling like dominoes were all made possible by so-called "deregulation" of banking over the last 30 years or so. The regulations being decommissioned are among the most far-reaching oversight imposed on banks by New Deal Democrats to prevent another speculation-driven collapse of the economy like that one.
I seem to remember a collapse in the real estate market was a significant piece of that disaster. I'd have to check to be sure. But, regardless, greedy and irresponsible speculators in real estate (I think) and securities are responsible for my being served stale, salted popcorn for breakfast as a child. I hate to think of it happening to any more children.
Maybe now you understand my love for a sweet, sweet slice of Momma's home made apple pie first thing in the morning.
Chores!

Posted: 11/3/2008 12:54:19 PM | | Two toast, marmalade on that, some cheese and grapes and of course, coffee. Having 3 home-made cabbage rolls and a mixed salad with a salad dressing I found here on POF. It uses olive oil and garlic, wine vinegar if I remember correctly and the BEST part is maple syrup. SO yummy. This be my supper. Lunch was out with a group of school trustees discussing the mess ( my opinion) that I think the Gov't of the NWT is going to get us into. DRATS!!
