hi... the best food to break the fast with is fruit... it digests quickly and the nutrients are absorbed right away, glucose for brain power and energy .. it keeps the metabolism running as opposed to eating nothing which sloooooows it down so much that you gain 10 pounds eating a cracker... the other benefit to fruit eating is that it takes very little energy , this freed up energy then goes to healing, toxin elimination and weight loss.... coffee is toxic as well as black tea.. watch out for green tea, it blocks iron absorption...this healing time is so important that we need to honor it rather than to interfere with it... if we eat 3-4 pieces of fruit, juicy ones first, everything will go extremely well with us on many levels...bananas are not a fruit until they have tiny speckles on them, otherwise they are starch... diabetics can enjoy non sweet fruits like a bowl of organic tomatoes and cukes.. if you want fruit fruit, eat it with raw coconut, best if it is a young coconut.. the good fat eases the sugar into the blood stream vs high highs and low lows... eat raw organic fruit in the morning and wait to have the other stuff after 11am... I tell people to eat fruit then eat their normal breakfast for lunch... reminder to eat raw greens and veggies for lunch and supper for nutrients and beauty and health and weight control... blessings, warmly Mona

Mona,
I want to thank you, very sincerely thank you.
Until my mid-thirties I used to eat exactly the way you said. I knew it was right and healthy. I was very into health and taking care of myself and my childrens health. I had been a competing athlete since elementary school and had developed my diet at a young age because of it.

I got more and more busy as the years went on by my mid-thirties and my children didn't need me to take care of them anymore and I stopped doing all of those things and started eating much heavier things for breakfast and lunch. I still ate heathy foods, but forgot to take the time to remember that when you eat and what you eat at certain times is just as important as a healthy choice.

I have never pieced the information together before, but I started having a lot of health problems after that and I would say only about 1 year into changing my habits of fresh fruit for breakfast and raw dark greens for lunch with a grain. Plus I always had 1 gallon of water by 3 pm daily and half of that was before the fruit in the morning. For dinner it was always any meat I wanted without a lot of glazes or sauce and any vegetable. Mostly fish, wild game or duck. I never ate beef more than twice a week and I did not eat pork for years and very rarely had pasta if ever. Same with chicken, eggs or milk unless I could get fully organic. I saved the grains, potato or bread for lunches. If I was hungry still in the morning I would have a berry protein shake around 10am. Then, as now, I ate as much organic as I could get.

On Saturday morning I would always have a brunch of all of the heavy stuff, but no breakfast or lunch and usually a huge salad for dinner on those days. I never felt deprived. I felt so good and healthy that those feelings never surfaced.

I have been racking my brain trying to figure out a healthy routine to get back into that I can manage with my school schedule. This one is perfect and it will fit my schedule too. It is weird when you know, but you forget. You were heaven sent for me at this time. Thank You. My health has been getting worse, but now I feel empowered to actually help myself. I think I may have attributed my good health back then to my youth, but I actually used to know how important that way of eating was. I don't believe that I forgot that.

Here is to HEALTH!

Before I get started on home work here I thought I would post the things I usually eat.

Pumpkin Bran Bread or muffin with a Pumpkin Spice Protein smoothie

Burrito with egg, homemade venison sausage (I make it like sage breakfast sausage) and some potato, maybe a tiny bit of cheese, usually a hard type, tangerine juice

Banana (always speckled a lot!), or strawberry, or raspberry, or cherry, or wild blueberry, almond milk or soy milk, acai or apple cider or tangerine juice, protein smoothie and an almond granola bar or raw almonds with a fresh speckled banana

Cherry vanilla, or cherry almond Old Fashioned or Irish steel cut oatmeal

I guess that is about it this year. I usually change what I eat year after year for breakfast.

On occasion I will have hot spiced tea, but never coffee. I always have at least 12 to 20 oz. of water.

hi smiling salmon, ty for your encouraging words... the best motivator for eating healthy is how poorly we feel when we dont... I know what you mean, life has a way of throwing us off now and again... I would have to say that the best advice to give people after the raw fruit/green and veggie plan is to eat ONLY organic animal products, if you eat them at all... ocean fish only and even then just occasionally... eat raw nuts and seeds 3 times a week for excellent health... a great book on health and nutrition is The Sunfood Diet Success System by David 100% raw guru Wolfe... parts are a bit too new-agey for me but the info on health is invaluable... blessings for health to you also, warmly Mona

Just returned from vacation and decided I needed one more unhealthy meal before facing the real world again tomorrow. So this morning it was IHOP and the new coffeecake pancakes, bacon, sausage and hashbrowns. Yum!
