| Sending messages but not showing up in the sent message area Posted: 10/5/2007 11:20:55 AM | Maybe she does have me restricted, but there is not indication from POF.
It is also possible there may yet be other Filters in Place the Admin never made mention of, such as a high Percentage of E-Mail blocks and Contact-to-Complaint Ratios, etc.

| Sending messages but not showing up in the sent message area Posted: 10/5/2007 3:55:59 PM | This just happened to me. I wrote an email as a first contact. His filters do not exclude me. I double-checked.
I sent the message and it did not show up in my Sent Messages folder. I went back and sent the message again. It still doesn't show up in the Sent Messages folder.
This is the first time I've had this problem, and there is no way that any hidden filter regarding Blocks or Complaints would have tagged me. I'm so sweet that I have to fight the ants off...well...maybe that's the food from breakfast.

| Sending messages but not showing up in the sent message area Posted: 10/7/2007 1:40:54 AM | | Interestingly enough, this just happened to me trying to send XXXXXX an email. I discovered that if I broke a l-o-n-g email into smaller "bites" it went through fine. Size might matter, after all. :-P Hope this helps. | |

| Sending messages but not showing up in the sent message area Posted: 10/8/2007 9:20:04 AM | I had this happen to me twice this past week. Two different profiles, two different messages. Both were first time contacts. I checked mail criteria and I wasn't blocked. I know, I know, I am just repeating what everyone else is saying. But the fact remains that it is annoying.
I guess if I was to look on the positive side, maybe I wasn't meant to make contact. Maybe they were one of the ones who claims to be someone they aren't and the cyber-fairies just saved me from yet another con artist or player!!! lol!!!

| Sending messages but not showing up in the sent message area Posted: 10/10/2007 4:26:44 PM | Some solutions should be at work by some fellow high tech genious volunteer.
It happened here most of the time when I like someone, message is sent, but to no recipient. Too bad, there are restrictions but no solution so far..

| POF MAIL: Emails/Messages - Sent but not showing up in the sent message area Posted: 10/11/2007 3:59:18 PM | Some solutions should be at work by some fellow high tech genious volunteer And again ... another unnecessary & fruitless Investigation was conducted recently for the umpteenth Time entirely to cater to the Shadow of the Doubt.
Its all Filtering, entirely dependent on the Content of the Messaging.
Better than 70% were sending:
More than (4) Four Duplicate E-Mails sent per Day. More than 40 new E-Mails per Day.
And the Rest ... by what has already been covered on Page 1 of this Thread.
The Solution for the most part is to not send 'Copy & Paste' Messages, the all-time Favorite of Spammers & Scammers.
Many here have suggested the Site's E-Mail System isn't working, looking for "Fixes".
Nothing is broken, hence there are no Fixes.
The biggest Complainers have turned out to be Spammers hoping the Admin would buy into the mysterious "My E-Mail doesn't work" Line, hoping he'll relax up on the Filters to open the 7,500,000+ User Base up to even more Spam & Scam.
| There is absolutely nothing wrong with the E-Mail System, and all Problems are the Result of not heeding the previously issued Advisories. |

| POF MAIL: Emails/Messages - Sent but not showing up in the sent message area Posted: 10/11/2007 9:45:19 PM | Ok, I read through all these posts, and I've had no problem sending messages until tonight - and NO, I do not cut-n-paste messages to people, and this is the *only* message I have tried to send tonight. This was a *new* message written tonight to someone I have not yet contacted but who is on my Favorites list. There are no message blocking conditions on her part or on mine. I do not even get the MESSAGE SENT message, it just goes straight to my InBox after I click on Send Message. I have tried to send the message several times, all with no success and nothing happens expect I get transferred to my InBox. I tried sending the *same* message to myself and I get the Blocked message that I do not accept mail from someone of my age or gender. I will provide you with the intended recipient's ID in a private message, but I will not post it in the forum.
Thank you for your assistance.

| POF MAIL: Emails/Messages - Sent but not showing up in the sent message area Posted: 10/11/2007 10:46:11 PM | This was a *new* message written tonight to someone I have not yet contacted but who is on my Favorites list. The Restrictions are removed when you are on her Favourites.
You having her on your Favorites is irrelevant and does not waive any Contact Constraints.
There are no message blocking conditions on her part or on mine. Double ... even "triple-check" her Contact Restrictions by going to the Mail Setting Field in her Profile.
Make sure there are no Conflicts.
I do not even get the MESSAGE SENT message, it just goes straight to my InBox after I click on Send Message. Possible you accidentally altered/changed the Recipient Field, meaning who was intended to have receive your E-Mail?
Letter added or removed?
Are you sure you were still logged into your at the Time it was sent?
Can you find yourself on your own Blocked User List?
I have tried to send the message several times, all with no success and nothing happens expect I get transferred to my InBox. Sounds like a Non-Existant E-Mail Address or the Message is far too short.
Do a User Search to make sure the User has not hidden her Profile, or the Account been deleted since.
I tried sending the *same* message to myself and I get the Blocked message that I do not accept mail from someone of my age or gender. Caused by your own Mail Settings.
I will provide you with the intended recipient's ID in a private message, but I will not post it in the forum.
Contact me or any of the Forum Moderators
Do as follows and in that Order:
| 4. | Send same successful Test E-Mail to intended E-Mail Recipient. |
| 5. | Post Results. | |

| Sending messages but not showing up in the sent message area Posted: 12/23/2007 12:07:12 PM | There no way to see what the system has counted.
# More than (4) Four Duplicate E-Mails sent per Day.
# More than 40 new Contacts e-mailed per Day.
So you don't know why your emails are canned. Also does the system think Hi I see you live in NY is the same as Hi I see you live in LA is the same as Hi I see you live in OC ETC.?
And it should tell you that it canning your mail.
While you at it add the ability to see if you have emailed before no just in the in box!

| Sending messages but not showing up in the sent message area Posted: 12/30/2007 6:24:05 PM | I've looked over all of the potential problems and restrictions listed on the first page of this thread and my question is whether the restrictions regarding the contents of the message (e.g. length, character type, words, etc.) would apply if I sent the same message to myself?
At a loss for what to do, I sent a very short message telling a woman that I was trying to contact her and for some reason was being blocked. *That* message went through (at least it showed up in my 'sent messages' list), so I'm obviously not restricted from contacting her.
It appears as though there was a problem with either the content of the original message or the picture I attached (that was added to my profile in the same way my visible profile picture was) , *both* of which I was able to send to myself.
If the general message content restrictions *don't* apply to a message sent to your own profile, I could understand but if the message recipient is not some sort qualifier I'm really confused. And why would the message recipient be a qualifier anyway?
If anyone is interested in a detailed 'bug report' I would be happy to provide it.

| Sending messages but not showing up in the sent message area Posted: 12/30/2007 6:39:53 PM | whether the restrictions regarding the contents of the message (e.g. length, character type, words, etc.) would apply if I sent the same message to myself? Sending yourself Messages is not a valid Test of any sort, since other Restrictions, or lack of these may colour the Test. And even then, you could only speculate that you may be OK on Message Content, but even here, variables exist.
The simplest of most basic Message Content Test consists of any Letter from A - Z, not composed and copied over from any Text Editor, but typed into your actual Message Post. Any E-Mail must have at least 1 ASCII Character, no Spam/Scam/Profanity Filters will kick in under 2 alphabetical Letters.
If it goes through, then its a "Content Restriction", if not, then its yet another Restriction.
I sent a very short message telling a woman that I was trying to contact her and for some reason was being blocked. *That* message went through Yup, looks like an E-Mail Block.
It appears as though there was a problem with either the content of the original message or the picture I attached (that was added to my profile in the same way my visible profile picture was) , *both* of which I was able to send to myself.
| Hence such a Test is limited.
If you have been blocked by the IE Filter, but have selected to block those who have contacted other Users for Sex or those looking for IE's, you'd restrict Mail from yourself.
The Variables are way too widespread. |

I personally haven't had any problems with POF for the last week or so. Hopefully a moderator will read this soon and be able to help you further.

| Sending messages but not showing up in the sent message area Posted: 12/31/2007 4:44:45 PM | thanks ticketoride! i studied every link you listed and believe i have set up everything properly now for my "new" profile. It is still a mystery to me what happened to my "old" profile. i had sent 1 long email just before everything came crahsing down, but can't believe it was 7,800 characters long....maybe a couple hundred. then the next email i sent was a reply to one in my inbox. i sent it and then could not find it in my sent box and then everything crashed. since i have my "new" profile i have tried to find the few men i had been communicating with and cannot find the one with last email sent....i think somehow we both got booted off. i cannot recall anything in our short emilas that would have been said that would have created this to happen. but, it's all i can figure. now....so in light of the RULES for emails i notice it says " Do not send HTML Links, Java Code, E-Mail Addresses or Telephone Numbers, or anything else that the Spam Filter may construe as a Telephone Number." so how are we ever suppose to be able to actually get beyond emails thru POF to meet anyone if we cannot send them a phone number or email address????? am i just stupid here...this sounds absurd! help! i need to be enlightened ! | |

I have a tendency to follow the little'blue' words around...best way to remember 'i am sooooooooooooo new and such a small little fishy'
Gotta be honest, this stuff scares me, yet I feel lucky as hell to have my first chapter of/at interneting/surfing here in The Pond. Feels 'safe'...so Ticket, 'umpteenth time' or not...please dont stop teaching!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (goes to all Modurators)

If your e-mail doesn't get through, that may be a Reason. Most go through, some do not. But it is a Factor in Sent Messages. Exactly what the Filters are I don't know.
If you are going to send some rogue e-mail addresses such as Automall@mysite.info or Mails already tagged as Spam/Scam, your E-mail may end up being blocked.
I think most of those just apply in the case of first contact emails. After that it's okay to share other contact info. That's pretty well it. The usual Mail Settings Contact Restrictions are waved after that, but not all Filters are. Hosting Sites for Instance continue to be blocked.

| Sent Messages not showing up in Sent Messages/Outbox Posted: 1/17/2008 7:35:19 AM | When I first set up my pff account I am positive I sent a few messages to people that were seeking encounters... however, that was many many months ago. How long does it take for that to "fall off" or purge off your account so that you may contact people that do not want that.
Had I known that from the beginning I never would have sent those messages. Who can I contact to reset that?

| FAQ - Emails/Messages - Sent but not showing up in the sent message area Posted: 2/4/2008 7:19:02 PM |
It had the word sex in it, not that I was asking a user for that, but describing a past relationship. I changed that word for intimacy, and it sent it.
Bingo! I have sent tons of emails since joing this site. Either tonight was the first time I have ever emailed a woman with 'intimacy appeal' or the filters have tightened up.
A suggestion to the site admin: intead of showing "Message Sent" perhaps we could simply get redirected to our 'Sent Email' screen after sending a message. This would not tip off the spammers and still give us a chance to check to see the message was actually sent. There is a good chance that I have had previous messages blocked without realizing it. I only check my sent box if they happen to be really hot!

| FAQ - Emails/Messages - Sent but not showing up in the sent message area Posted: 2/5/2008 3:53:01 PM | Bingo! I have sent tons of emails since joing this site. Either tonight was the first time I have ever emailed a woman with 'intimacy appeal' or the filters have tightened up. Many of the most stringent Filters only apply to First Contact E-Mails. The Result ... your E-Mail Message does not go through.
Users you have e-mailed previously will usually more often than not "censor" out Profanities, Banking Terms, the Name of Hosting Sites, etc., but your E-Mails will usually go through.
Should the Combination of restricted Text be indicative of a Spammer or Scammer, that User's Account will be deleted by the Admin or the System.

| Unfortunately any Feedback whatsoever gives the Spammers & Scammers an Index that their Methodology to circumvent the Filters is not working. This would cut down the Time it takes for them to test other Avenues. |
