| Dating a Female bodybuilder or girls with big muscles Posted: 12/4/2007 3:39:54 AM | I do workout with weights but I am not muscled woman, I do have a good bicep and my calf muscle is big too but its proportion to my whole leg, I have flat abs. I could do more but I dont want to look like a man. At least I want to look like a little feminine . But I respect women with good body built. To each its own if women like to look like a bodybuilder respect thier wishes. | |

| Dating a Female bodybuilder or girls with big muscles Posted: 12/4/2007 11:41:33 AM | Because physical attraction is the FIRST level of attraction when it comes to men being attracted to women, I'd have to say, whatever floats your boat. It's a very individual and personal thing. Some men like skinny women, short, tall, husky, different hair, eye colors. Why? Because it's what we see first.
Then we find out how superficial they are and we settle (just kidding).
No matter how long we evolve, it's genetically encoded that way. It's also influenced greatly by the media. I myself don't watch too much TV or movies, nor do I view pornography because I don't like the world telling me what my ideal woman should look like. But sadly, it's already been pumped into my brain far too long, and I've only recently sworn off most of those things.
My curiosity with a body builder would be more about how the sex would be. I have seen images of some that are attractive, but the ones that are too bulging just don't do it for me. Many women like a guy that's muscular, but not hugely so. (Well except maybe one muscle in particular)

| Dating a Female bodybuilder or girls with big muscles Posted: 12/4/2007 11:54:34 AM | I've always been fascinated with women that body build, since it's known more as a male-dominated endeavor. But I probably wouldn't date one.
My only experience was a first time date/meeting at a bookstore about six years ago. She didn't look outwardly ripped or bulging (her clothes covered everything), but I noticed pretty quickly she wasn't interested. I got the distinct impression she thought I was a flabby girly-man compared to the steroid-induced broncos she's used to working out with…lol. To make myself more appealing in her eyes I could have gone on a crash workout program to bulk up and tone down to 3% body fat, but, frankly, I'm not that obsessed. And make no mistake; bodybuilding is an obsession for the people that live the life. From my experience you pretty much have to share the obsession.
I guess there nothing wrong with casually dating a female (or male, for that matter) bodybuilder because of some extreme fascination with their physique. But if you want something more serious and long term, look at the person underneath---don't be lovestruck by the muscles.

| Dating a Female bodybuilder or girls with big muscles Posted: 12/4/2007 11:56:37 AM | | I'd be seriously concerned if she is heavily muscled, simply because women's capabilities to produce the amount of testosterone needed to develop deep muscle mass is limited to about 1/10th of the average man's...unless she uses steroids or HGH, or a combination of both. The Monica Brants and Rachel McLish's are most likely naturally developed through weight-resistance training and high-protein diets. | |

| Dating a Female bodybuilder or girls with big muscles Posted: 12/5/2007 1:02:53 PM | Thats funny... when I hired a trainer for a year and 1/2 I was able to lift 150 pds in free weights and climbing. Thing was I just felt BIG. Felt I was losing my femininity and so he started toning me down with more reps and more cardio. However I must admit I liked being the gal who could lift things for everyone! lol
Then when I stopped for a year that muscle turned to more flab than before! Yikes!
Now I have to go back and retone/reshape. I think its about balance... finding whats right for you... as a heavy woman or tiny woman or buffed woman we all are going to run into opposite sex folks who are going to be biased by "type". Personally though I'd rather have a man treat me bad because Im strong and healthy than treat me bad because Im flabby....
Good luck! | |

| Dating a Female bodybuilder or girls with big muscles Posted: 1/12/2008 11:05:58 PM | Wow, just got done reading this entire thred and thought I would comment...
It seems like many of you are judging a woman who bodybuilds just based on her appearance. While physical attraction plays a big part in a relationship, these women are just like everyone else. They have a passion for lifting weights, working out and staying healthy. They just take it to the ultimate form of that. If this really bothers you, I think it is just a case of insecurity on your part.
Myself, I find the look very attractive. I think it is beautiful.
Here is a youtube clip of Denise Masino, who is a female bodybuilder, explaining why a lot of women get into the sport of bodybuilding. link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=622jYCnOGw8
There are a lot of very beautiful female bodybuilders out there, some have been mentioned, Rachel Mclish and Cory Everson, both who are retired, but there are the likes of Joanna Thomas, Isabelle Turell, Amanda Dunbar, Kim Kilper, Pauliina Talus, and many others who carry the muscle very well and it is very attractive.
Just my two cents worth...

| Dating a Female bodybuilder or girls with big muscles Posted: 3/11/2008 4:47:38 PM | There are some that I think just take it too far. I'm talking serious pro bodybuilders, not during the off-season, all veins and jaw muscles and looking like they're on the juice (no offense to the natural bodybuilder ladies intended).
Still, I really don't care if a woman's stronger than me, and I think a woman can still look feminine with muscles.

Then when I stopped for a year that muscle turned to more flab than before! Yikes! This is one of the most egregious myths about weightlifting. Muscle cells are muscle cells; fat cells are fat cells. Never the twain meet, period, not ever. What may be happening is a resetting of your metabolism.
When you go from a high-pumping metabolic rate via cardio and resistance training, and then stop, you will benefit for awhile...and that rate diminishes as you age. Finally, muscle fibers lose mass--and thereby reduce metabolism--if you cannot alter your diet (and it's really difficult to do and obtain good results) to meet your seriously diminished metabolic needs you will be storing unburnt carbs into energy via the fat cells...so, fat cells expand just like muscle cells, but for vastly different reasons.

| Dating a Female bodybuilder or girls with big muscles Posted: 3/12/2008 9:31:50 AM | I would date a woman that has an athletic/fit build with some muscle. I would not date a woman that looks like a hard core bodybuilder on some muscle magazine.
I agree.

I'm not judging them. I'm not insecure. Just simply not attracted to them.

| Dating a Female bodybuilder or girls with big muscles Posted: 3/13/2008 6:46:41 PM | I think muscular women are beautiful and sexy. I've dated women smarter, taller, made more money... I'm not in competition with anyone so I just appreciate their strengths , if that happens to be physical that's cool.
Beauty in power! gotta love it !

| Dating a Female bodybuilder or girls with big muscles Posted: 3/17/2008 8:30:30 AM | | Whichever poster put the "lantern jaw" image into my head from her using massive amounts of HGH, thanks. That thought remained with me all weekend--as one fugly reason to avoid 'the chemically-produced freakshows that parade themselves as bodybuilders. I'm beginning to think that gay relatives of gay fashion designers are now making the bodybuilding industry as laughable as the anorexics who wear dresses that cost a year's salary. | |

| Dating a Female bodybuilder or girls with big muscles Posted: 3/17/2008 10:10:34 AM | | no because im not inclined to the ladies no matter how killer their abs (except britney in her hayday. i would have licked that belly. but she wasn't muscular anyway) are BUT even if i was a lez/bi i don't think they'd be my bag. i don't find muscular women attractive, toned yeah but overly so not so much. i like the real girlish pretty look ie nelly futardo, scarlett johannson etc etc | |

| Dating a Female bodybuilder or girls with big muscles Posted: 3/17/2008 4:40:00 PM | I personally dont care if a gal is thin, athletic, or even a little thick, as long as she is proportionate to an extent. Personality means a lot more to me! HOWEVER. I would draw the line at a gal who does the gym thing using Roids or HGH. When their voice is deeper than mine and their personal parts are growing in opposite directions. Thats a huge turn off.

| Dating a Female bodybuilder or girls with big muscles Posted: 3/28/2008 10:46:13 AM | Like one or two of the guys on the site, I would definitely date a female bodybuilder. I guess everyone has different preferences. For me it's not just about their bodies, but also the mental strength that they have. The journey to bulk up and diet down for a contest is very hard. As we know women have to lift very heavy weights to gain size, because they don't have the advantage that us guys have.
I tend to go for strong-minded women with ambition and determination. To me, that's probably the definition of a female bodybuilder. I am an ambitious person, I love training and I want to better myself. Even though I am 100 per cent natural and I have a long way to go before I compete, I don't have a problem with a female who needs "extra help" building her physique. I can understand those people who think it's wrong though.

| Dating a Female bodybuilder or girls with big muscles Posted: 3/28/2008 11:09:25 AM | | LOL my girlfriend is MUCH stronger than me, and it doesn't bother me in the least. I tell her often that I hope I never make her angry cause she could very easily whup the crap out of me if she so chose. She grew up on a horse from childhood and has lifted weights for years. Go figure lol. Personally I see no reason why that should be a problem unless your male ego just can't accept it. | |

| Dating a Female bodybuilder or girls with big muscles Posted: 5/4/2008 3:45:47 PM | | I don't care if she works out, I don't care if she's even stronger then me. muscles are attractive on a woman. but only if she still looks feminine. Toned and strong I like. but If she's all bulked and bulit up like a guy I don't find that attractive at all. Which is probably why I wouldn't find female bodybuilders attractive because their big muscles make them look less feminine. (depending on how big she was I'd wonder id she's using steroids or something) If I want a guy I'll date a guy. | |

| Dating a Female bodybuilder or girls with big muscles Posted: 5/12/2008 11:22:42 AM | Most comments in this thread seem to come from one angle, whether guys would date female bodybuilders, and almost nothing from female bodybuilders themselves? I'm curious: Do bodybuilders of both genders only look for like-minded, buffed partners, or are most willing to date a wide range of physical looks? One can be an average build (like me) and fantasize about dating a buffed woman, but it means nothing if she doesn't find "me" physically worthy of attention and would rather date someone more hardcore.
One profile keeps popping up in my "profile row", for lack of a better term, whenever I check my mail, and her main profile pic is certainly that of a bodybuilder. I guess this would be a question for her since she seems to live the life and surrounded by the culture. I'm just too chicken to ask her…lol.

| Dating a Female bodybuilder or girls with big muscles Posted: 5/12/2008 5:55:09 PM | | I agree with what some men have mentioned. There is a difference between an athletic / fit woman with some muscle and a very muscular woman bodybuilder. I know some women with an athletic body type and they get plenty of attention from men. However most men that I know aren't attracted to very muscular female bodybuilders. | |
