no offense to men, this is directed at the ones being truthful...... but in alot of cases men dont age well, blame genetics, bad health habits, too many bad sunburns, and too much sun overall. all this coupled together can make it "appear" as if men lie about their age. so if he's bald naturally at the age of 32 and all or some combination of the above is in play, it will make him look as if he's lying.
I guess this is a Mars vs Venus thing because it's a known fact that WOMEN do not age as well as men. Women who smoke age horribly! Have you ever kissed a prune? On the other hand, the majority of men age gracefully. For one example, just look at George and Barbara Bush. The majority of men do not have ED either. Most men can function naturally into their 90's and never get a headache!! That is why men seek younger women!
Maybe you have just been fooled by the men you are dating, who are 70, who say they are 45!!  | |

I think we are talking about people lying in their profiles as to their specifications. Women on these dating sites, generally, not as a whole, lie consistently. I speak from experience, and one day, I will write a book about it. A guaranteed best seller.

It's simple. They want to get women much younger than themselves, and those that do it are not exactly looking for a relationship!
This is not true. Though there are plenty of middle aged adolescents running around thinking they can still "score" with women half their age, most every man I know wants somebody in his own age group. My experience has shown that women are far worse about shaving off the years and pounds than men. Men like to grow hair and inches in height, and maybe pad their salary a bit. I am well over average height and have so much hair it gets aggravating at times so I don't have to do this. I don't look my age, so again, there is no need to lie.
I have a problem with older women sending me messages, and I don't need a mother. The one I have is enough trouble. Personally, if I find out a woman is lying on her profile, that is all I need to lose interest. Why would I become involved with someone who will lie right up front? I can only assume women feel the same way. | |

I find most of the men on this site lie. They lead you on and then drop you like a hot potato. Why does a guy even bother. It doesn't matter if they are a teenager, in their twenties, or fourties or whatever age they still play the same games.

ONE CERTAIN ONE SHOWED UP AND SHE WAS 15 YEARS OLDER AND ABOUT 60 POUNDS HEAVIER AND FOR THE LIFE OF ME I COULD NOT SIT ACCROSS THE TABLE FROM A LIAR SO I DISMISSED THE MEETING IN THE PARKING LOT AND TOLD HER HAD SHE NOT LIED TO ME EVEN IF I WERE NOT INTERESTED, I WOULD HAVE TREATED HER TO DINNER OUT OF COURTESY .
EVENTUALLY I WILL FIND SOMEONE HONEST AND TRUE MAYBE NOT IN THIS LIFE.       | |

Reply "Sir I can not tell if you were asleep for 4 hours or 16 years."
Guys in their 20's and 30's don't seem to lie about their ages. It is the men that are 40 and over that start to subtract years. I guess they want to attract younger women and think that is how you do it. I look at the person. But if I went out with someone and found out they lied, don't think there would be a second date. Just can't deal with the lies. | |

Posted: 1/26/2008 12:57:53 PM | I agree that men do sometimes age less gracefully then some women, we women use the face creams and the makeup and and and ......to try and fight off that process, maybe the men ought to try it. No point in lying about the age though, I know that I too would drop ya like a stone once I found out I was lied to from the start or in the middle.
Makes me laugh though when some young buck who is so obviously way younger then they claim try's to tell me , I really am 30.........LOLOLOLOLOL!!!

Actually, according to a survey I read recently (and I can't tell you where.....sorry, I don't remember) the AVERAGE size for women IS 14.
You can also understand why someone might choose "average" rather than "a few extra pounds" when many people on this and other sites reads "a few extra pounds" and THINKS "morbidly obese".

Why do I challenge you?
Because , due to a genetic family trait, my hair went almost completely silver-gray to white before I was age 45. My grandfather had the same situation, my father had the same situation and my son, who is 30, is going gray (his wife, BTW, loves it!). Yet some women on this site have accused me of mis-stating my age based on my hair color in the pictures I have posted.
Comedian, actor and writer Steve Martin had almost completely white hair when he made his first major movie, "The Jerk" - and he was in his 40's at the time. Would you have refused to date him then - because "he must be lying about his age"? | |

Chemistry, positive attitude, and no BS works every time. I've talked to some women on line thats told me some guys are already having problems in their late 30's and early 40's and a great percentage by the time they are in their 50's. I know a number of women in their 50's that can run circles around some men in their late 20's..I don't know alot of men in their 50's that can run circles around women in their late 20's tho. What fairly tale novels are you reading BK ? | |

Posted: 1/29/2008 9:08:31 AM | Many men are hung up on the age issue and think a younger woman will keep them young.My preference is someone roughly in my age group,it is much easier to share life experiences when you are on the same page,or at least in the same chapter.Lying about your age strikes me as the tip of the iceberg.If they lie about one thing why not another.
A little off point, but my experience has been many women complain that men age better.That doesn't mean they are any healthier but,a man starts to look distinquished with gray hair and most women tend to think women don't look as good with gray hair, hence they color it.Everybody ages differently physically depending on what their lifestyle has been and various outside forces such as stress etc. Those that are beautiful at any age are those that accept where they are in life and just keep going. Certainly there are many beautiful women of all ages.

Jennyann68,I'm 61 retired and can't contact you because your lower limit is 63. A three year reach doesn't seem like that much.

Posted: 1/29/2008 10:17:58 AM | I lied to the power of two years, i am not particularly insecure, nor am i lying about anything else but there is a cut off point where you should be married and settled down etc( around 40) Had the internet been around 40 yrs ago it would have been 30. Peolple constantly tell me i dont look my age. I am merely trying to increase my chances of meeting people, someone who can keep up with me at least. If i tip over the scales at 40 most of the female users will not respond.(check most of the age requirement criteria on profiles) What difference should the odd 700 days matter. As i am not out to play the field lying about my age is not a crime. Any one who meets me would forgive me for that. Unless 1 yr means that much to them. More likely to be that the bank balance isn't loaded enough (fed up with gold diggas)(not that i have met any)((but theyre out there!)), the car isnt new enough etc etc. Besides ...looking at some of the profiles out there it appears to me that everyone tries to increase their chances one way or another. As far as THE CHART GOES probably 75% of us are MORBIDLY OBESE. "THEY" don't leave much room for variance. I'm 5'4" and should be no more than 135 lbs. But I guarantee you if I weighed 135 I'd look sick. I go by what weight I feel good at. Also why not put a few extra pounds. Hopefully their going to see me in person eventually and they'll be able to see for themselves. I hate liars. I want to be loved for myself. The good, bad and/or the fat. | |

I make it a point of being honest on my profile here - and got an interesting e-mail from a woman on POF recently who suggested that maybe I was being TOO honest!
But if I lied, then I would have to work all the time at making sure I didn't "blow my cover". | |

Posted: 2/3/2008 1:28:40 PM | If being lied or "fibbed" to about age, weight, height or posting ONLY really old pictures is so traumatic, step AWAY from the computer, put down the mouse and go look for people in real life settings, so you know right from the start what they look like, and if you hang out with them a bit you will most likely get a sense of their level of fitness,their level of education, their occupation and their income.
Why does anybody lie about anything on internet dating sites?
People with a poor sense of honesty lie on the intenet for the same reason you dog licks his ass. Because they CAN!
