In sum, she was a great friend, and made me realize how important family was to me. I hope these insights are helpful to someone out there, sorry about the long post:)

I've been asked out on a date simply b/c I was Asian. The kicker, the male who was looking his mail order bride was so shocked to learn that the only thing about me WAS my appearance and nothing more. I also know that a quarter a handfull of black women nowadays ..thank God to open mindeness and mingling due to travel etc..are attracted to white men...but never Asian men...until recently, black women were ashamed of being seen with white boyfriend or an Asian one..at least decent ones would fear being branded prostitutes by their people!!.that was their fear of being attracted to people of different skin color.
...so you'll save yourself energy and breath by not discussing such issues here...just make friends and enjoy what broadmindedness and maturity has given birth to...racial mingling which is great....I was also one of those stupids...before I travelled and lived with different races... mixing with other races helped me come out of my blacks only shell...and see people as people only skin colour is different..but the inside is the same or closer...nothing more nothing less!!!.

Nothing right or wrong about it, just another preference for some that I have enjoyed over the years....... 
Just like some rather date blond's, or redhead's, others enjoy tall over short, or thick over thin. There are no absolutes, but more of tendencies, and some of us gravitate more to certain sizes, shapes, and ethnic backgrounds.....
As someone of mixed heritage, I find many that are outside of the caucasian background, to seek and enjoy those of us that are blended as well.... And Asian women are definitely one group that I have enjoyed immensely, and dated often....
