I can respect that. .... But the point you seem to miss is that some ppl's justifications for their preferences can be downright ignorant and plain ridiculous.
To simplify: Lets say I prefer only guys 6 ft or taller because well, I believe guys who are 6 ft + are the best lovers!!!!  ... .... Or another one: I prefer guys who wear size 12 shoes because all guys I have ever known who wear size 12 shoes have always been more romantic, caring and understanding of a woman's need.
Don't get me wrong either. I am not saying that there always needs to be some sort of reason to justify our preferences, especially when it comes to physical attraction -- because fundamentally, a physical attraction of a trait is just what it is: physical. ... But go back and re-read what I said about "sweeping stereotypes".

Also I still say it's creepy if you're a white dude and you would say I only date Asian women sorry that's a wacko idea to me. Asian women don't want fetishized to begin with by white dudes. I freely admit I pay special attention to Asian women in real life and online and I do have some reasons for that but it's none of the dumb common stereotypes you usually hear. I could care less if a woman ever cooked for me or did my laundry.
forumflounder is dead on if I hear the whole Asian women are submissive stereotype once more in my life I'm seriously going to hurl. I wish the next time I hear a guy say that an Asian woman would come up and kick him between the legs.
Asian women are probably guilty of this too though I think they think all American men are millionaires or something...but maybe that's not their fault since there's a lot of rich fat slobs in America trying to buy foreign women because it's the only way they can get a woman. | |

The "truth" is that people become "slightly rotund" only if they let themselves. Lots of white people stuff their faces with fiberless diets full of meat and potatoes, which was fine when we were farming and could burn it off. But now, 95% of white people world wide are urban dwellers and haven't adopted their diets accordingly. We could and should change "white" to "American" because white people in Europe are thinner than we are, into old age, too, from what I've seen over there.
Yes, in China (my only experience with Asia) people eat waaaaay more vegetables than people eat here and that obviously contributes to being thinner. Duh, not that hard to comprehend!
If YOU get fat, it's YOUR fault, not the fault of your racial orientation. Trust me, plenty of "slightly rotund" (aka, fat arsed) Asian women out there, too. For those who have immigrated, certain parts of American culture have not been so kind to their waist lines.

I agree with your statement about Asian women and how they relate to black men. I had a situation with an older Asian woman. She was very intelligent, crazy attractive and sexually remarkable. But in public, complete cold shoulder. I mean totally opposite. If we were in an elevator, she would stand on the other side for fear of someone seeing us together. I worked at a very impressive power company and she still did not feel comfortable meeting me in the public eye. A colleague of mine also dated an Asian women, but he was white and 15 years her senior. And she showed up EVERYDAY. Now maybe it was because she was ten years older, but she told me I made her feel young again, because I told her she looked so much younger and how I touched her. I tried to relate to her, she told me her life story and I made her feel better. I made her smile, I played with her hair, never made off-color humor, poured her a glass of champagne, lit her cigarette, but no go to any outside activities. I was her secret -lover . . And that's exactly how I felt.
Are there any other Asian women willing to give a brother a chance or willing to dispel this perception that has been created. | |

As you probably realise by now, Caucasian is perceived to be the standard - and a great many Asian women (particularly on dating websites) will only date Caucasians. It is a generalisation to make a sweeping statement across a region of different cultures but Asians in general are socially conservative. This social conservatism can make dating Asian women (particularly non ABC / BBC - American Born Chinese and British Born Chinese) quite tricky. Usually, one doesn't get past 'Go' in Monopoly terms i.e. no response, if not Caucasian.
This is just as true for dating Indian / Pakistani women, as well. In fact, I would say the phenomenon is more pronounced if anything (especially family approval / pressure).
You also have to factor in how the family will regard you - which can be a difficulty even for other Asians - as well as factor in work colleagues e.g. a Singaporean girl, with whom I had a situation 14 odd years ago, informed one of her work colleagues that they guy she was dating (and was to marry and have children, fast forwarding a couple of years later) was British; to which her colleague dismissively remarked, "Well, at least he's not black".
The number of [Asian] fishes who will nibble, will be much smaller than if you were Caucasian, but there are Asian women out there who take a liberal view. When I was over in Japan on a number of (rare, admittedly) occasions, I did see the odd Japanese girl with a black guy - without the whole cold shoulder. My [Taiwanese] ex had no issue with the fact I was mixed race; her mother had an issue with the fact that I wasn't Taiwanese - but what really caused ructions was me being vegetarian!
A Malaysian friend of mine, whom I originally met on Match last year, has no issue with race and has very liberal parents. So there are Asian women out there, but you are fishing in a much smaller pool.
That said, the situation that you found yourself in, is not acceptable period - whatever her race. Did you ever discuss the issue with her to ascertain why she felt the need to distance herself from you?
If I recollect the Asian women with whom I've had contact / dates / relationships, they all have been Malaysian, Chinese, or Taiwanese). All of the Malaysian girls have been Han Chinese. This may not be statistically relevant given demographics, however I do elicit responses best from Malaysian women, followed closely by Chinese.
To give you a crumb of hope, one of my ex female friends from New Jersey has 4 really close female friends. One of those is an ABC (American Born Chinese), and her ex was black. The number of nibbles who will respond to your angling attempts will be much, much smaller, but there are some who will respond **.
** if they have a sister, I'll trust that you'll give them my number? ;)

In my past dating experience, I would say I have had more caucasian women be more forward with me (that is, they send PM first, they are more touchy/feely, they are more "suggestive").
The asian women I dated were more conservative (some weren't and were quite like the caucasian counterparts).
The caucasian women I dated were generally bigger boned whilst the asian women were mainly petite.
The caucasian women were more possessive and the asian women were more "let him be".
The caucasian women were definitely more promiscuous (some were a bit too suggestive for my liking, I lean more towards traditional). The asian women were more conservative (some weren't though).
That is my experience, and I speak from 30+ dates from this site. | |

Posted: 3/21/2010 2:12:52 AM | Living in Vancouver, one meets quite a few Asian-looking folk, unless you are the sort who avoids them for whatever reason. I have a significant proportion of Asians among my friends, both male and female. (And I didn't meet all of them through origami!)
Once in a while, I've been asked if I was hot for Asians, or only went out with Asians - when in fact I've never even dated a person who would fit the classification. Not for want of trying, mind you... who knows?
Naturally, the questions got me thinking - as so many things do. Understand, here, that I am open to humans of any sort but assoolies, but I made a mental list of
Common Positive Attributes of Asians as Potential Partners (for me)

- straight hair. I like it.
- skin that seems to age more slowly. (I'm getting on, and a lot of folks my age are seriously into leather-land. There but for fortune, true.)
- almost no cheese in their cooking. (I'm violently allergic.)
- eclectic dining tastes.
- less alcoholism, in my experience.
- appreciation of education. (Alas, not always leading to logical, intelligent living.)
- avoidance of public transit.
- reduced risk of religion, particularly the majorly aggressive ones. (Hey, this if from my perspective, right?)
- acceptance of subtitled films.
- appreciation of methods to limit phone costs.
No, even with tongue in cheek and all these caveats, I'm not going to risk a list of common demerits; that's too close to pandering to stereotypes.

This is not to say that all American women are like that but a good amount of them are looking for the man to buy them everything. It seems like Asian girls are looking for a good guy rather than how much money is in the bank account and what car and house do they own and dont knock the man if they dont look like Brad Pitt or Clooney. | |
