If anyone ever decides on a location and a date is there room for a newbie? I've been on POF a while but never tried a POF get-together and coffee is definitely up my alley.

Wow, I've been watching this thread for a couple of days now, and still no concrete decision on a location or time.

You'd almost think everyone here works for the government . . .

Hey D_rail....we're all in, but being the sheep that we are....need executive direction. Care to make the executive decision on a time and a place?

Judging by the peoples interest, I'm not sure if a Starbucks type setting would work. Mind you I think I read a years worth of posts in 2 minutes so my numbers may be off but I've found good ol Boston Pizza serves decent coffee, can fit 5+ people without filling up the joint and as long as no game is on is generally quiet enough for conversation....

The bar sides will usually have larger tables and don't care that you're not ordering food. Theres so many around town everyone should be able to make it to one. A fairly central one is by the Franklin C-Train just off Memorial, theres a good one in Westgate mall area, down McLeod by the Superstore, one on 32nd, etc.... And with the new by-law you non smokers have nothing to fear

What areas of the city work best for everyone? I'd like to get some people together for a cup of joe and see whats going on with everyone I haven't met (read: everyone on this site lol).

I'm not sure if there are larger Tim's out there, the biggest one I know of here is the one on Barlow and Sunridge Way, not too huge imo. Never been to a Good Earth, not sure how they're laid out.

There's a Boston near me in Castleridge, but I've found that PoF'ers are severely allergic to venturing further north than the Trans Canada. I've got a car and good gas mileage, so I'm willing to travel to one.

So we reach into the hat, pull out the ONLY paper and find in-motion's suggestion of the one near the Franklin C-train station.

OK, now we need a consensus on day and time. Wednesdays is the Karaoke night. I've been away from these forums for too long, and am out of touch with what happens on the other evenings. Or we could meet up on a weekend afternoon.

I like the idea of a coffee meet. The bar get-togethers are too loud. I have a bad ear and cannot hear a thing anyone says in most of the bars we've been going to. And what someone says and thinks is far more important than what she looks like. If you can't hear anyone talk, then you haven't really met anyone -- in my opinion. Are you sure that BP likes a collection of people gathering for coffee and no food? I used to do that in a small-town BP in the early eighties but BP's moved their decor a ways upscale since those days.

Another great place to gather for coffee is one of the Cheesecake Cafe's. There is a group of us that go there once in awhile for coffee and maybe some sweet treats and we have found it very nice. Most of the time it is in the afternoon on the weekend when it is not so busy.

Just a thought for you all to ponder.

Sounds fine to me. Thursday nights may be better than Tuesday nigghts as Thursday is close to the weekend and people want to socialize and party more.

If we need other ideas, I suggest Sunday afternoon? There was a POF Coffee Chat in another city on Sunday afternoons, and that was (and still is) a BIG hit!

Resurrecting a GREAT idea - that never quite took off!

How about Thursday November 1.
Second Cup @ North Hill Mall (It may not be a 2nd cup but it is on the NW side of the mall - kinda next to Safeways)
The actual coffee shop is not so big (but how many people are gonna make the effort...)
the food court is right there if we need to expand beyond the borders!

^^ Hey, you dug deep for this one

Have a general time in mind? Or is it supposed to be a surprise
For those of us that are geographically challenged when it comes to retail, which one is the North Hill Mall?

I was actually looking for the thread the ptlady started - couldn't find it, apparently my search skills are limited.

The mall is the one on 16th Ave NW between 14 & 19 St.
