I met him the first time on the day I moved to this city for a new job. I was staying with a high-school girlfriend in her university apartment for a few weeks until I got settled, and one of her roommates was at a party a couple of floors up. She came down with a little entourage of guys, and one of them was on crutches and in an ankle to hip cast from a bad car accident. I was dozing off on the couch (I had travelled half-way across the country by train, and was beat), and he sat beside me and we chatted quietly for a couple of hours while everyone one else partied.
Over the next couple of months, we bumped into each other a few times here and there and one night met in a pub. We ended up back at my place for a "one-night stand." We were together from that day until he died, 25 years later. Strange little world. I was the last person anyone who knew me would have thought would end up partnering up so early (we were both 20) and for so long. I'm probably the least "romantic" person I know - even as a little kid I thought weddings were lame, and my teenage fantasies were of an exciting career with a revolving stable of lovers, not Prince Charming - but there I was, accidentally and happily coupled up. Strange little world.
I haven't had any other real boyfriends since then, but I've dated a few men who I met online, another who I met at a coffeeshop, and another at a university function. | |

Posted: 12/28/2007 4:42:36 PM | i bought a used car and it needed a few things done,it was still under warranty so i took it to the shop they requested.i got out of the car and walked over and a gorgeous green eyed tall dark and handsome stood up covered in grease.i told him that the dealer had me bring the car over and we chit chatted a little.i gave him my home number to call when it was done.i picked the car up...yada yada.but i couldnt get this guy off my mind.....a week later, i had a friend rip the starter wire out of the bottom of my car and i called his shop and told him my car wasnt running and i was having it towed over.i went back to pick it up and he told me what the "problem" was.LOL!i finally asked him out for drinks.ive never chased anyone like that....we dated for 5 months.it was hot but we both wanted different things.i still hear from him now and again.i never did tell him i broke my own vehicle just to have a chance to get him face to face.... | |

I met my ex at work, I was her boss. It lasted 6.5 years...... wouldn't have changed it for the world. And that includes the outcome :-) | |

well... my last girlfreind followed me home from the bar.
and she was realy hard to shake. 
I met my last girlfriend in college, in one of those personal development courses. We seemed to really hit it off well but she had a lot of sexual hangups (from past abuse) that she could not get over and started to attack me for wanting to be sexual with her. There is still a lot of anger there and a lot of hurt. I don't even want sex most of the time now. I don't see the point of it most of the time. All I want is someone to share the rest of my life with. I can't even type this without crying.
Last I heard she was going to hike the Appalachian Trail. Hope she gets mauled by a bear.  I'm not bitter...
Anyway, keep up the great posts!

My most recent that didn't last long I actually met in the Houston Airport. We were both trapped due to weather. Got along so well that I invited her out (she's in Louisiana and I'm in New Mexico). Unfortunately, the initial connection was great but the week she was out showed it wasn't meant to be.
My last LTR and I met on the internet. Contrary to what the OP said, dating sites have been around a LONG time -- it just used to be text only. In my case, we met in the dfw.singles usenet newsgroup which used to be really active. Lasted for 10 years total of which about 7 was good. | |

The one before that is kind of a strange story! After a room mate burned my house to the ground(accidentally), My daughter and I had no place to go so a friend introduced me to a friend of hers that had a one bdrm apartment and said that he was looking for a female that he could trust to stay at his apt while he was on the road,which was going to be about 20 days a month. His plan was to take that job which would allow him to see his ex-gf in the town where he would be driving to. my 11 month old daughter and I accepted his offer,split the rent and it was to be strickly platonic......
Well, As it turned out, we fell hard for each other and he never took the new job to go see that ex and we were together for 4 yrs and almost got married! | |

i met my last one and dearest so far, at a fair...
i was walking by the bumper cars and noticed her driving one of them , i sttoped checked her out for a bit all pretty and all happy, ran to get a whole buch of tokens and started chasing her around...she started noticing me after i bumped into her 3 or 4 times as hard as i could, hahaha, she started chasing me to, and we had a hell of a fun while looking and smiling at each other without even having ever talked.....
once we were done with all the bumpin, we went our separate ways... i went my way thinkin to myself, "damn it, why didnt i say anything"..."im an idiot!"...."blah blah blaming myself for not sayin anything"lol.....buttttttt.......later on i found her at a diferent spot with some friends we had in common....they introduced us....left us alone....hehe.....we started chattin, the fireworks started popin a few minutes later, we laid on the floor lookin up ......it was amazing.......i gave her a ride,and asked if she wanted to go for coffee the next day....
so the next day after coffee we went down by the ocean..... i was dyin to kiss her....but didnt just wanna kiss her out of the blue....so i told her "hey i have an idea" "you got a coin?" to which she said no! lol so i gave her a coin and said "i thought we could throw it in the water and ask for a wish!" she said yes all excited, and im like "k...ready?....on 3" so we threw the coins, looked at them dive in the water, looked at each other in the eyes for a bit and BAMMMMM we kissed.....and both said almost at the same time "my wish came true!!"
she was my girlfriend for four years....
got to go to the next fair, hope shes there, try to find her there and replay it all over again.....haha
