My guess is that they are assuming the strap-on is going to be 15" long and as thick as a Coke can. Do you realize that there are different sizes?
Too bad I didn't see this sooner. I'd have suggest you look for a "training strap-on". It comes with 2 sizes of dildos. One is about 5" long and about as thick as a thumb the other is about 6" long and about average thickness.
Positions? For starters having him on his back at the edge of the bed is probably the most comfortable. With you standing on the floor things should be fairly well lined up (unless your mattress is on the floor and not on a frame). After a few sessions like this and he's comfortable you can either use the bigger one or try other positions.
