My ex was six feet tall. We were together 18 years. I thought I loved tall guys. OH HOW WRONG I WAS. I've dated several short men (5'3"-5'8") and they were hotter than hell. In fact, my present lover is the shortest and neither of us was particularly attracted to the other at first until we touched. FIRE. Absolute fire. Complete engulfment and enjoyment. GIRLS, short men FIT short women really, really well. I have never enjoyed another lover like this man. And, yes, it has something to do with our mutual level of experience but honestly, all the parts are right where you need them. lol. I've found a whole lot less ego with shorter men as well. Fantastic personalities. I could go on...YUM. Now to find the one who will love me forever and ever and ever....lol.

I agree with miss personality. I am 5'8 almost 5'9 and I am taller than my mom, brother and pretty much everybody else in my family, except my dad. I prefer a guy that I can at least see eye to eye with 5'9 is the shortest I would go. Its just a preferance. Some men like blondes, some like redheads, some will screw anything that has legs. lol

I was just going to ask the same question lol - was surprised when I saw it moved up in the forum listings....

When you get to be an old bag like me, more things matter than height. And again I repeat, I have dated guys over 6ft, and a guy who was about 5'4 - and the shorter guy was bigger than life, fun, and enriched my life more than anyone else i dated...

There are lots of women who just aren't attracted to a man who is shorter than they are. The same goes for men who aren't attracted to larger women. Preferences are preferences.

Personally, I have met a ton of shorter guys who are just completely hot. I have also met lots of tall, ugly men. My current partner is 5'6", but in awesome shape and very hot.
He is also warm, caring, and has a wicked sense of humor that I love. Those traits matter more than the superficial in the long run.

I think it depends on the woman's frame of mind and level of confidence.

I'm 5'10"
I've dated two girls, one 6'6", one 6'7" and both hotter than the fires of hell.

I went out once with a girl who was 5'9".... I was deemed "too short".

One of my longer relationships was with a girl who was barely 6'1" and again, she thought I was "too short".

Yet the two women who towered over me, and occasionally wore heels.... had absolutely no problem being seen in public with me. I didn't care much either, it was actually kind of fun to watch the reactions of other people!

Also, the tallest girl told me she preferred shorter guys!! She said her "window" was 5'10 to 6'2. She'd dated guys her height and said it was boring - like the only reason they went out with her was because she was tall.

I prefer women eye level or taller, but I've never turned down a shorter girl. Personality has always been my deciding factor.

I've found that shorter men don't like it when I'm taller. There's been a few times that I've not contacted men on here thinking "Nah, he wouldn't be interested... I'm taller."
I've dated taller, I've dated shorter. Never been an issue for me either way.

there are two reasons many girls dont like short guys, i think.

1) they feel more protected by a bigger guy. not saying short guys cant kick ass, but it is a perception.

2) short mans disease. i would say 75% of the men under 5'7 suffer from this cruel disease. it drives women away.

i may have previously posted my opinion on this topic in this thread... i dont remember... maybe it is that "forgetfullness" of mine...

i personally like shorter men... i am five sevenish... i like to wear heels... but i have no problem dating a guy who is the same height as me barefoot as long as he doesnt mind me being a bit taller... i just cant help it... i like my guys kinda short...

everyone has their preferences... even though i like shorter men, i still date guys taller than me... i do find it uncomfortable dating extremely tall or short guys though... and since we all have preferences, i am sure that there are women out there who date short men and men who date tall women...

Myn friend is 5ft7 and i consider that short for a man. I am about average at 5ft10. When i first met that particular friendl i was all smug about his lack of height and thought that i had an advantage over him. Wrong! The guy is confident and has never referred to his height or lack thereof. I have seen him date women even taller then me! He just doesn't overcompensate. I don't think he makes it an issue so it becomes a non-issue with the women he dates. If you make it an issue, it will become an issue. Be strong and confident and you'll be fine.

I think it depends on the guy. I am 5' 2".

There is this one man from my past who was 5' 5" who was the nicest, kindest, most sincere man I ever met. I developed a friendship with him when I was separated during my marriage--he was willing to wait to see how things worked out for me before we started anything other than friendship. My husband and I ended up getting back together and he wouldn't let me talk to this man anymore. I have always wondered 'what if' about that man and would like to know what has happened in his life since then.

One man I dated was six feet--he could easily pick me up and I felt safe with him when we traveled out of the country, but he was not comfortable sharing or dealing with emotions. I have also dated a man who was six feet,-four inches but they were nearly impossible to kiss or dance with.

So what exactly are you saying here, same height as you barefoot, a couple of inches shorter?

You seem to be the exception to the rule. Most girls / women expect their man to be taller than themselves. Personally I would prefer the woman to be at least a couple of inches shorter and ideally more than that. What can I say, I am a sucker for petite girls.

I have noticed what seems to be a trend where short girls are with disporportinatly tall men. Like a difference of 12 or more inches. What's up with that?

Out of the women I have dated...I think the most interesting one was this lovely 6'2" tall woman who moved from Germany...I wish I had never lost her phone number.

BTW, I'm 5'6".

I definitely agree with the cave man / cave woman theory. There are some instincts that have been passed down the line for the last coupla million years and to some women its a feeling of protection. Now in modern times most of us have been exposed to other conditions in order to 'survive' and women can now choose other qualities in their mate other than just the need to fight off the wild animals and other marauding tribes [ ie other than you being a big brawny brute]

SO what that means is that there is another whole bag of qualities that may make a woman pick or overlook someone shorter than herself. Some times you may be surprised to find its not the height! /be very careful you dont blame any bad luck on attracting the opposite sex on one physical aspect alone. Personally I was once so head over heels in crush mode over this guy once who was about 5'1 or so. He was smart, good looking [ to me] and just an all round decent guy. Alas I found out he already had a girlfriend so no go. I am only 5'3 without heels so most men are going to be taller than me. Personally I am not so fussed though I went out with someone once over 6ft 2 and it killed my neck and was a bit of pain trying to hug and other stuff Does that mean I wouldnt go out with another tall guy again, no. Does it mean I wouldnt go out with someone short, no. It IS the person that counts. The only thing that is a turn off is when the guy obviously has a chip on his shoulder about it. Major turn-off

If a woman wont go out with you because of your height, then she is entitled to her choice and its simply not worth worrying about it. Just like some men say they wont date overwieght women, or red heads, or ....you name it. Some women wont mind, as this forum shows and to others it is a selection criteria. What can you do about it anyway?????? Dont dwell on it, be yourself, dont let it undermine your confidence because they are so many other ways to be attractive !!

I think most women want to feel petite and delicate when they're with a guy...kinda hard to do when you're 6 feet in heels! This is still a culture where the man kills the bugs and is supposed to carry you over puddles, at least in the movies. So it's normal to want someone bigger than you, if not taller than at least a little broader. Besides, what if I fall on him and squish him? lol

I love wearing heals and i can not see myself with a man who I tower over...I just dont see it very manly when a woman is larger than the man but this is only my opinion. If others are comfortable with it then all the power to ya!

see i find this hillarious ...how a womans interest in fashion...ie .."heels" can trump romantic feelings...

Sure i understand that women dont want to tower over her man...but come on!

It just seems such an arbitrary choice....i mean do women also choose thier man on wether or not he matches thier hand bag?

I have never experienced the "you are too short" phenomena...but man ...i feel for my brothers from other mothers...seems you cant win for trying.

And i know its "preferance"..and youre not supposed to be upset with peoples "preferances"..this one however just seems odd...

But then im odd..so ...point taken...lol.

This is one area where I feel a little shallow.. not proud of it, but we all have our limitations...

For me it is about the fact that I ended up feeling... well kind of masculine, and bigger than him... less feminine. It just didn't "fit" physically and that is important to me... the ability to melt into the arms of a man who makes me feel like a woman... well that and the tip toe kiss... *sigh*

It is not your height, but your ability to make me happy by saying yes if I asked you out or to shred my confidence by saying no. At least for me, that is my problem with dealing with women of any size.
