HBK is still entertaining to watch? Huh?!

His matches all follow the same storyline. It goes back and forth, HBK gets his ass royally handed to him, he hits the clothesline, does his stupid little flip thing, milks the comeback like he's powered by Jesus, and hits the superkick for the "miraculous" win.

Ric Flair still wrestles because he has no problem losing matches to ANYONE. The guy wins about one match per year (barring this IC title streak), and puts over anyone within arms reach. Shawn Michaels is still a self serving politician, who will put people over, but expect something big in return (ie having Kurt Angle job to him after having to tap out at Wrestlemania 21).

And if you want entertainment, try watching just one of Flair's old promos from back in the NWA with the Horsemen. Best ever.

You couldn't be anymore right hence why I don't see why people are even debating Flair's persona/wrestling skill. HBK is one wrestler I could never stand and I think he is one of the most overrated wrestlers to grace the WWE. People think Flair should retire and not Michaels? That's ridiculous. The guy has nothing left in him but his stupid "Sweet Chin Music". Unlike Michaels, Flair has the respect of the fans and can still put up one hell of a fight.

Overrated in the fact that the guy didn't earn his wins, he petitioned for them. Back in the NWA, flair was CHOSEN to be champion.

I will cede that HBK has given some absolute blockbuster performances, and time and time again proves that he still has it (I still replay that match of him vs Angle at 'Mania 21, it's just that good).

For a second, I didn't think Flair would be able to hold his own against Edge in that TLC match they had a month or so ago. I was worried that Edge would have to carry him to something watchable, but was happily proven wrong.

You're right, HBK has had a few great matches, but I dont think he's as great as everyone proclaims him to be--ive never thought he was "that great". I lost ALL respect for him after the Toronto Screw Job.

Ric Flair has made more wrestlers than anyone else in wrestling history. He could have a passable match with a broomstick and Paul Roma.

Yeah... great matches don't mean a whole lot. The Butterfly Effect was a pretty cool movie, but that doesn't make Ashton Kutcher a great actor. You replace HBK with Brett Hart in any of the great matches he was in, you've got yourself a much better product. Brett Hart was better than HBK and Ric Flair combined. Brett didn't sit in the corner getting chopped in the chest only to take a couple steps out and fall flat on his face like some circus clown trying to get a few cheesy chuckles out of a kid who didn't know any better. And the best I've seen out of HBK was the other night when Shane knocked him out and made him kiss Vince's ass. Now THAT'S sports entertainment at it's finest!

While I've never really liked HBK, I can't deny that Ric did have his day. But now... he's done. He was entertaining as a mouth piece for Evolution, but he should have never gotten back into the ring to actually wrestle. He's boring and lame.

Klo-Not to be picky, but the screw job was in Montreal, not Toronto. Who cares really? You are a rare breed...a hot chick that likes wrestling! Wanna move to Canada!? Anway, I agree with your assessment of Flair. Still damn entertaining in the ring IMO, and still one of the best with the stick. Yes he does some of the same old stuff every match, but I never get tired of seeing him beg off then sneak in that eye poke, or seeing him go to the top rope only to get tossed off AGAIN. Classic! As you said too, he's still a better worker then half the guys on the roster, which is a compliment to him, but also not necessarily a good thing either. Perhaps if they didn't employ so many muscle heads with no wrestling skills hmmm(Snitsky, Masters, etc)? Have to disagree about HBK though. I don't like him on a personal level either, he is a self serving prick who treated a lot of people like crap when he was on top. That being said, I watch wrestling to see great matches, and HBK has provided MANY of those. I see Flair and HBK as sure fire top 10 all time workers, so far as the North American wrestling scene goes.

I really don't see the problem with Flair continuing to wrestle. The man is a legend. Hell, he was (and still is) "The Man" in professional wrestling. He's never had a great physique, but the guy can GO! inside the ring. The man's gotten good matches out of virtually everyone he's ever wrestled. Hell, I'm sure we've all heard the "Ric Flair could carry a broomstick" reference.

And as far as everyone wrestling the same match, blame it on the "WWE Main Event Style." Apparently, if ya can't work that, you can't work at all.

On a seperate note, is there ANYONE really saying to themselves "Man, I *gotta* order WrestleMania for that Booker T/Boogeyman match!"

Perfect! I had a sheer, dusty blue, lined with feathers robe so a former wrestler friend started calling me Ric Flair. I almost wept.

Plain and simple he is WRESTLING !!!!! He has been there since 1972 - He was hated as a bad guy, he was loved as a good guy, he has made so many wrestlers what they are today !!! Many remember him from the WWE, NWA, WWF, WCW - How many remember him from the Jim Crockett's mid atlantic wrestling - thats where it all started :) Hate him or love him - just watch him on TV or Live - he still gets the crowd going !!!

Finally in closing - 4 horsemen may have had 13 different members but any wrestling fan will always remember the originals Ole and Gene Anderson, Tully Blachard & Slick Ric

Ric Flair is pathetic now. Sure, he's done some great things in wrestling...about ten years ago. I can't stand watching his leathery manboobs jiggle as he falls on his side from the eighth back body drop of the match. I can't believe some people are saying HBK's matches follow the same routine in a post about Ric Flair. I'll give you a synopsis of a Flair match.

1. Series of chops
2. Say "Whooooo" a couple of times.
3. Do that stupid drunken wobble and then fall down.
4. Take a back body drop.
5. Climb the ropes and get slammed from the top.
6. Repeat steps 1-5 as many times as necessary. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I hate to speak poorly of immortality, but I'd have to agree with you man. Why don't they just give him the heavyweight title already and let HHH beat him for the Ultimate Supremacy of greatest all-time. We all know it's coming....just get it over with already. I still think it's a joke that people argue over who's better - HHH or Flair. In my humble opinion, neither could hold a wet jock strap to Bret Hart or Chris Benoit. Maybe it's just my biased Canadian opinion.

Now that Abdullah..he had quite the rack! He was supposed to come to Halifax on an ill-fated WCW tour of the Maritimes back in the spring of 1990, but the story goes that half of the roster became ill because of food poisoning in New Brunswick. The Butcher was supposed to fight Bam Bam Bigelow, but because of being sick, Bam Bam fought a jobber instead and Ric Flair faced Road Warrior Hawk in the main event, instead of Lex Luger. You should have seen the sad crowd at the Metro Centre, i would guess that attendance was around the 1,000 mark...just rows and rows of empty seats. Although i heard from a friend that Alanna Myles must have the record for lowest attendance for a concert at the Metro Centre, drawing around 700 people in 1993..ouch!

Once upon a time I was dating a girl who didn't watch wrestling. But as always, I turned wrestling on and made her watch it. Well she was less than impressed until Ric Flair did his old man face flop. She loved it! Became a wrestling fan after that. Weird, but at his age, he's still drawing new fans.

Flair will always be somewhat of a draw, simply because he is a living legend in the ring. Even people who have not watched wrestling recognize the name, although he is not as household of a name as Hogan. Having said that, and acknowledging that Flair is my all time favorite, he really does need to hang up the boots. He is a shadow of the persona that he once was and it is simply sad to see him do some of the routines that he does in the ring today. He has absolutely no resemblance to the Rick Flair that headed the Four Horseman, and is now there more for comic relief. It is just my opinion that watching him now is sad having seen him in his ealier days with the NWA. But hey, the man needs the money. He is gonna do what he needs to do to pay the bills.

Surely anyone performing at his age, and being paid for it, is doing something right, and merits praise, not brickbats?

Who is he, anyway?
