| how many threads?
Posted: 10/25/2009 11:25:49 AM | Interesting .... I think I may have something to add to why this happens as I just noticed that someone (who hides their identity in reporting) has tried to suggest that I have more than one forum profile.
It is this constant assumptive behavior that also leads to loss of interesting posters and their sometimes witty contributions to the threads.
Traveller has it right. Too many wanna be forum cops trying to run the show and as is the case with me, even can be slanderous in their assumptions.
It's too bad because diversity is what makes for the best threads | |

Posted: 10/25/2009 5:14:11 PM | I left the forums late spring 2008 because I was being unreasonably harassed by an angry & mean-spirited "forum bully" & it took the fun away from playing on here. I returned briefly in Nov 2008 & this person started at me again & I left because I dislike conflict & angry people. Someone told me this person was permanently banned from the forums during my absence & someone else said permanently banned from POF.
I made another brief return early this year only to find that there was so much discord between certain posters on many threads & one poster in particular seemed to be monopolizing nearly every thread, vying for attention. The lightheartedness, fun & humour were gone & because I come to the forums for entertainment & to get away from the stress of everyday life, I wanted no part of this argumentative bunch so I left again.
I returned about a month ago & while there are still some feisty individuals on here who seem to enjoy creating or participating in conflict, the spirit of the forums seems to have lightened up & the fun, witty banter that I enjoy has returned. There is one person in particular who is downright verbally abusive to other posters & even newbies, who don't deserve to be attacked & spoken to in that manner. Sometime I sit here completely stunned after reading those posts & wonder why this person hasn't been reported & banned from the forums yet. Is it because of popularity? Perhaps this person is dating a mod? Or has many friends on the forums? I don't know but it baffles me that someone can bash posters so harshly on a regular basis & get away with it.
You never know what you're going to stumble upon when you return to this forum after an absence.  | |

Posted: 10/25/2009 7:00:11 PM | ^^^^ Sorry to hear you have been bullied here... its sad that many have and often it effects people very greatly... they may be just words on a screen but when you are experiencing personal attacks it doesnt matter if its in person on via the internet...Its just down right nasty!
Lets hope there comes a day when people grow up and act their age not their shoe size! | |
