Portugal v Germany, even third place is a stillanyone's game. On form to date, I'll go for Portugal, tighter and quicker around the midfield. What a treat to see Oliver Kahn in action again at this level. We may never see this again.. I heard Klose imay not be playing, that'll be a shame. He's been a legend in this tournament. That'll tip the balance more in Scolari's favour.

^.........port-germany game is a USELESS game.......only FIFA can think of something as stupid as this 3rd place game!.........after the loss by both germany and portugal, do you think that these players care if they win a third place match........the only thing that can happen is that they will put themselves at risk for injury....for no reason.

the MOTHER of all soccer matches will be played on sunday.....the final glory!.....it will come down to who will make the fewest defensive mistakes!

so having knowledge of a sport means you cant critique it? Iam entitled to my opinion...why cant anyone prove to me how soccer is not boring? instead you feel the need to talk about me....talk about what I have said not how much you dont like me.....

Sure, I will prove your point, honey. Soccer is not boring because it is watched by 95% of the world's population. Now, everyone can't be a fool at the same time, can they? If they knew it was boring, why would they watch it every 4 years like crazy freaks?????????
Sure, soccer maybe a boring game to YOU. But it is NOT a boring game in itself. If it is/was as boring as you claim, more than half the world would not be watching it.

Now, can you say the same about baseball, sweetheart?

P:S: The next time you make such a blatant statement, think it over. I'm not sure you would like to be seen as a fool the second time. Am I right, darling?

ah well Germany 3 Portugal 1.. can't win them all
Great to see Kahn on action again, Figo bows out of international football.
Scolari's a show all by himself.. I love it when the coaches are so animated.

Yeah it was great to see Kahn back. I think they shoudl have put him in net against Italy, maybe the result may have been different.

yeah it's a beautiful game. Tommorow is the beauty of the beauties.

What do you think tommorow evening after the game ....will there be a party and parade in downtown Paris or Rome??

Cannavaro or Zizou. Just reading some stats, Juventus defensive teammates Cannavaro's 100th cap and Thuram's record 121 caps. right now I'm thinking performance in this tournament defensively.. Zambrotta, Cannavaro, and Grosso with Gattusso. Attack I have admired the work of Iaquinta when he's come on.. still mulling ..either way, I'm happy the two teams that have served us mere mortals so well unite for the ultimate encore.

at Jayrey

here is a quote from your message(#693)

"how can this be the best sport in the world...when a team can only score 1 goal and win....players are paid millions of dollars and they cant score 1 goal in 90 mins...what a joke"

^...................this statement proves beyond reasonable doubt that you know little (if anything) about soccer.....and thus it doesn't make you a FAIR critic of the sport.

if you wanna criticize the officiating or the dives....thats another thing, but for you to complain about these things without knowing ANYTHING else about the sport is foolish.

you certainly have a right to like (or dislike) whatever sport you want....but it should be clear that your dislike for soccer seems to be based on ignorance....(no insult is intended....i'm just pointing out what you have already brought across).

I enjoyed the Germany v Portugal game last night and respect goes out to Germany's goalkeeper Oliver Kahn who anounced his retirement after the game,He will be missed and has been a credit to football.

Im looking forward to tonights final and i think its going to be a open game even though the Italians will play their usual defensive style of football and counter attack when allowed to the French will controll the game and will have to take their chances to score when they can as there players will run the midfield area im sure.

good luck John and i hope Italy win the final

Jayrey...it seems to me that you're spending a great deal of time and energy on a sport that you find boring. Most people only expend that much effort into things they are INTERESTED or STIMULATED by. Hmmm...

As for the rest of us...I think the one thing FIFA should change is the shoot out. It always seemed heartbreaking that, having battled through a 90 minute game and two grueling overtimes, to have the game decided that way. Not that I have a brilliant solution...and
I don't know about anyone else, but my heart is beginning to race as game time gets closer. AND I don't want the World Cup to end...it flew by!

Yippee the finals about to start. Zizou and Totti, my eyes can hardly handle he the beauty. Shakira's "hips don't lie" is fantastic and fitting for this artistic sport. I'm all the way for the AZZURRI .. go TOTTI

Hams,

They have to have the same approach towards shoot outs that they had against Germany.. Not wanting one...Henry just taken off.Malouda has just been too dangerous and now Trezeguet. I'm hoping Iaquinta does something
