Bragging rights for 4 years......how lovely it is...........talk about the other teams all you want......I have lots of respect for many teams including France, Brazil, England, Portugal, Argentina, Netherlands, Germany, among others and this was a great tournament but in the end it was nice to see that Italy came out on top as they deserved to be.
Sick of some of the horrendous diving and acting going on this World Cup but it's normally a direct result of bad officiating and players/coaches realizing that opposing teams are getting away with it so why not try it themselves. ALL teams were guilty of it.......and I repeat ALL.
One last thought...........going out to Mr. Zidane............I will always respect his talents as a soccer player and I know that he is a good man at heart but is he being sainted? That headbutt was one of the worst things I have seen on the pitch at such a large event. There is nothing more to say, the man has a bad history with these violent reactions and the world needs to know that Zidane is no saint and Marco Materazzi did not deserve any punishment at all in this matter. Are these guys professional soccer players or hot headed children?
Anyone who has played any sport knows that guys talk ALL the time during play trying to provoke a reaction from the opposition..........did FIFA investigate what the Danish player was saying to Totti when he was likely "provoked" to spit in his face a few years back.......nope.....just painted Totti as a horrible man with no class (point well taken as it was not something that I think was right at all) Point is that Zidane was 100% wrong in his actions and really needs to be viewed in the same way regardless of talent and unless there was some sort of racist comment made.......there should be no action to punish Materazzi. FIFA wanted France to win..........most people sided with France, but Italy was the better team this tournament period and if you expect one or two men to carry your TEAM to the World Cup title, think again!!!
