Look for an independent adn you'll either converse with an intellectual or someone off their meds,lol.Seriously,both genders here in Florida leave alot to be desired when it comes to strength of intellect.

Although, I do not believe that educated means he needs to hold a piece of paper that proves it because as you all know, most that hold that piece of paper stick don't have a lick of intelligence!!! 
Most men recognize a smart woman and they'll even tell them so. I think what happens is they stear clear because most women are too smart for their own good and men can't put anything past us!!! They'd rather be with someone who can't think for themselves or are too wise for their game playing if that is what they chose to do with their life. 
If there are any left out there with looks and brains, knows what they want and can make sane decisions!!! Hollaaaaaaaa....  | |

I have taken your inquiry a little further and actually attempted (this almost killed me) to be a ditzy / needy woman while coming to know a certain someone. I was simply testing the waters. I claimed ignorance and to be unable to do very basic things so that he would do them. After about 15 min. of that I went back to being me. Three days later he tells me he was intimidated by who I was.
In another instance (when I was playing the role of me) I was also told I was intimidating because the guy didn't know what exactly to do for me. His question was - why exactly do you need a man?
NEWS FLASH SOUTH FLORIDA MEN WHO MAY BE READING THIS: Sometimes we don't need you to DO or BE anything but yourself. We just want the company and bonding.
Ok. Hopefully that helps the masses. I guess it's tough to face a secure woman, who can hold her own, has a brain, her act together, and wants to do more with her life than check out the next shoe sale at Macy's. I am still not sure. However, I am still holding out hope. | |

Ignorant because they have failed to recognize that the majority of state of Florida did in fact vote for our fine governor. As an aside, the people who are implied to be smart for having voted for what's his name that ran against Jeb Bush are the ones who could not figure out the butterfly ballot. I am sorry but that is too stupid to vote. The woman who started this forum is a military veteran. It is well known that the majority of veterans vote Republican. Again she finds herself at odds with the people she lives and works with. She may just be confused and unable to distinguish between disagreement and stupidity. Many intelligent people are convinced of ideas that turn out to be wrong throughout history and all over the world. At times, even the majority of intelligent people have been wrong. The "intelligencia" during the Spanish Revolution is an easy example. St. Thomas Aquinas was actually on the wrong side of the argument regarding the virgin birth. Einstein was wrong regarding black holes and lambda. The list is endless. The blanket statement that men do not prefer intelligent women is preposterous on the face of it. The truth is men prefer women who are smart enough to not show them up all the time. I believe it is just courtesy. A skill that the men she has met have obviously practiced. Men, like women, make mistakes. A man would be foolish to correct a woman and a wise women is foolish to think man likes being corrected. Plus that, love is a much more effective (if not as immediately gratifying and temporary) as arguments. So why am I not taking my own advise? Consider it an act of charity. Someone needs to be straight with you miss smarty pants. | |

The biggest problem here in florida with being an intelligent guy in my experience is that intelligence is so rare the conversations are hardly worth having. I mean, there are actually people in here who get their feelings hurt when you tell em the south lost the civil war. It's not an opinion bub, it's history. My advice to you if you want the smartest guy in the room, find the one who's just watching everything go by...and ask him a question. Remember too...don't be surprised if us intelligent types are crazy too.  | |

I would agree STRONGLY that the average intelligence in florida would be 'dead'. I see it all the time. I live in a town that has way too much money for its own good. The rate of development here is obscene and I deal with rich people with lots of money all day long. Most of em are too high or drunk to know where they are, or even how to drive. For the guy who was talking about those who were voting for our fine governor, THOSE are the ones voting for our fine governor. The old ass people with too much money, who are also nearly blind or who can barely walk, and they're too ****ed up on meds to drive straight besides all that. But if they have the money, they can keep their license, and they can keep killing people. Because THAT'S the way it works in florida. Am I the only one here who's heard the term 'Floridiot?' kinda works right there next to Tamiami Trail.
There's a good part to it tho...when you find a smart person, it feels REALLY really good. | |

Posted: 7/6/2006 1:32:05 PM | yeah been there and not long ago. I went to broward county and I have sworn not to return unless it is a have to. People there drive like total idiots and have no respect for the other person on the roads. with in a four block area was almost involved in three accidents from people just swinging in in front of us and just lucky enough I have excellent reflexes. The lack of intellegence is very high in southern florida. and you know the worst part of it I was born and raised in southern florida. Family and friends still live there but I feel my life is by far more important than being there for any amount of time. as far as smart women if I were to compare the southern part of florida to all women then I would be dumb as all hell. There are quite a few very intellengent women in florida, I know quite a few and have known them for years. Nothing better in this world than to be in the company of a woman that can match or show me up with her smarts. Makes for two things to me first she is sexy as all hell and can keep a relationship quite interesting and fullfilled. Second is I don't like to have to take and try to explain each and every thing said in a conversation that requires some thinking. Now before this sets off any ladies I am not placing all ladies in this group.

There are alot of us that are still gentlemen with a wild side but we do like to hold a conversation more than ," Well, it looks like rain, itll ruin my hair !" Personall I prefer brains to looks anytime. I havent had an intelligent conversation with a woman in a bar yet!!, I find them in alot of other venues, museums, aquariums, parks, and on the beach.. Out of all of the people in Oz Ill take brains anytime. !!
