When it comes to subjects like politics, we each state our opinion, we are not going to change each others minds, so further discussion is pointless. Intelligent people agree to disagree.
Let's talk about the weather. Intelligence will shine through even in that discussion.
BTW, intelligent women know how to use both upper AND lower case letters in their posts. | |

And Greystone, I LIKE debating politics at times! And even though there may not always be agreement, sometime you can learn from debate.

Posted: 7/14/2006 12:02:34 PM | How can you be a veteran and a democrat? Democrats are trying to cut out the military and give the security of this country to NATO. At least that is what John Carry wanted to do. I work for a government contractor building electronics for the military and everytime a democrat gets into office (president) the company has major layoffs and hundreds of hared working americans loose their jobs because demecrats cut spending to the military and for defense of this great country. And speaking of americans loosing job what is up with the NAFTA (Slick Bill Passed) how many americans lost jobs because of that, thousands, hundreds of thousands? Ok I said my piece, and by the way I am not republican nor a demecrat I am an independent (as I call myself) because I just feel I am an American. I don't affiliate myself with political parties. | |

The don't want to be intimidated.
A woman with a high IQ should date a man that has a somewhat higher IQ.
Unfortunately an academic degree doesn't say much about their intelligence. It does say a lot about their dedication and ability to follow through. In my last LTR the guy had a B.A. from a decent college and couldn't locate Idaho on a map! Dang, i'll never forget that one! LOL. Maybe he was too busy partying. I really don't think much of academic degrees, except for the fact it really does show discipline. Wooohooo discipline, lol.
If a woman is "smart" then she should be with a guy that is at least a little smarter than she is.
I remember hearing a song about "you can't catch a man with your brains", (some song written back in the 30's or 40's I think. I wonder if their is still a little truth to that. Nah, probably not. If you a lady with brains then go out with a guy that has even more brains and I seriously doubt he will be turned of by your smarts. When they don't like you because you are smart, it is because he isn't as smart.It makes him look like a dumbass. No guy wants to be around a woman that makes him feel like a dumbass.  | |

If you are going to bore the crap out of him with "intellectual discussions", he probably isn't going to find this very attractive unless of course, he is equally boring, in which case he wants to out-bore you. | |

Posted: 8/22/2006 3:43:06 AM | Wait you put down John Kerry and you can't even spell his name correctly....that shows everyone just how much attention you pay to what is going on in this world...fact is nowadays....military recruiting is DOWN...not because of cut backs...because of a war, that the majority of Americans do not agree with....it took them awhile to figure things out...Bush was cleaning up what his dad didn't finish and got us stuck in the middle of a Civil War....remember that one of our best friends and allies in the Arab world is Saudi Arabia....a country that is not and never will be democratic...and the home country of the sept 11th terrorists....
Now I totally agree with the lady from Texas about being a democrat...it is yet another reason i have a difficult time finding a man my age to date....they all seem to be republicans...here in northern florida...southern georgia, whatever you call it...a male friend of mine told me once, you are going to have to date Republicans there are hardly any democrats our age...(by the way he is in the military....as is a coworker of mine, retired military and democrat...so military does not equal Republican, Thank God)....so I dated a few Republicans....one as soon as he got sex, disappeared...another called me a Racist against white people because I liked Rap and Middle Eastern music and not country, another said my black students looked like gorillas....and my cheerleaders weren't as pretty as the white ones at the football game (hint: two of these guys are on dating sites still) I find a majority of men say they are Republican (it's the big bad, I'm gonna drop bombs on your ass attitude) , but when you talk to them, their real views come out...they are liberal Republicans at best....
I used to be a republican basically because i was brainwashed by a teacher at a private christian school i attended in 9th grade....later as an adult and pregnant, my whole view of the world changed...I stopped believing what was force fed to me, and began exploring other views and finding the one my heart truly believed in.... | |

Posted: 8/22/2006 3:50:10 AM | as far as degrees, think about it....you major in something....mine was communications: public relations with a minor in anthropology....i never made a C in college, graduated magna cum laude....but i struggled in Math...and Science...had to study harder...i have no interest in those two subjects and if someone tried to talk to me about them...it would be a struggle....except for animal science...and some rock stuff....
but I can write, which is why I now teach writing....and I love studying about other cultures, and psychology....i'm big into pop culture...as a PR person you have to keep abreast of trends in society....
these are the things I'm great at...and maybe that makes me smart in those areas...
but my ex husband could build houses...so can my brother....those are different skills and make them intelligent in home construction....my mom is a bartender and is so outgoing and personable...while I'm extremely shy....I wish I had some of their skills
everyone has their strengths....however I do feel people really need to pay attention to what is going on in the world around them...and get their news from a variety of sources.... | |

If you are looking for a partner or friend (which I assume most of us are, or we would not be here), finding someone who is on par with our own level of intelligence should be as important as any other criteria we use in judging a proper partner. To me at least, finding a partner that challenges me to grow, challenges me to learn is critical, and a challenge in and of itself. Shallow Hals of the world will always gravitate towards the blonde door knob, seeking the runway model looks over anything resembling an original thought. The question is, what will Shallow Hal and Barbie Bubblehead talk about five years later when they have exhausted all possible variations of the topic on the latest fashion trends? For me, women do not have to be Mensa alumni, but at least come with an original thought, the ability to logically defend a view or position, and the ability to understand a polysyllabic word without running to Webster’s.
I agree with bellydancer regarding Republicans in Florida btw. Mostly fiscally conservative and socially liberal, almost more libertarian than Republican. | |

PS...if you are a Vet of any age you almost HAVE to be against the Admin who brought you the cutbacks in veteran benefits/etc. The guys in office are the same ones who wanted the deceased soldiers family for transport of remains back to States....& similar weasle tactics ad naseum. Yeesh! | |

Show us the original thought (let alone logic) in the above paragraph. It's all inane stereotypes, meaningless namecalling and unfounded assertions. You are quoting from the liberal bible. It is anything but original, and requires no thought, original or otherwise.

well i'm liberal on about everything...after all i'm a poor single mother and teacher...i've been on welfare, after getting out of an abusive marriage where i was a stay at home mom who helped run ''his'' business...i went back to college (i quit when i got married) and got a degree...I chose teaching as I was not cut out for the corporate world...too honest...i'm not into ass kissing people i dont like...
I was engaged to a guy with barely a high school diploma for about 18 months...my mom when she met him (and she dropped out of high school) said you are going to be bored with him in no time...and in time we grew apart...we had none of the same interests....and he had no interest in going to school, had no goals...just drifted from job to job...he was a sweet guy, just not a good match for me in the long run....so i think u do need similar intelligence...the last boyfriend i had was a genius who was amazingly brilliant...it was intimidating and yet so refreshing...so give me a guy with brains anyday | |

Debates are about debating skills and nothing else. The person who "wins" the debate could just as easily switch sides and win the other side of the debate, too.

Just remember "fast5ohh91" you get what you are in this life and sooner or later you'll need to grow up. Someday you will regret using women like you do and treating them with such disrespect. I wonder about your mother?
As far as being an intelligent woman, it is true, so many men say they want a smart women, but then merry a waitress or a woman who has a lot of problems, i.e., does not have their life together. Men need to feel needed, they need to feel important, they are fixers, rescuers, and with smart women they feel insecure and threatened. Even very intelligent men seem to want "stupid" women who they can control and feel a sense of power over.
So women: be all that you can be, get a great education, a profession you love where you make a lot of money, buy a wonderful home & car, and be a great parent (if your blessed to have children), be happy in your life, and you will surely not have a guy.
