| Nicknames!!!!!! Posted: 12/3/2008 12:13:17 AM | Ive had a few : JC , Carrey , Johnny come lately , Johnny jib a jab [reference to my ability to speak quickly and I used to box as a youngster, hence the jab bit ] Johnny 5 , Johnny Jizz , Zorro , Peggy Babcock , Trevor [?] , Johnnynory. They were all nicknames I had at school and mainly name related. Not really had that many as an adult ...... My old boss used to call me JMT as opposed to GMT . OJ apparently because I get away with murder Lightning lips because I talk a lot and quite quickly I presume. A couple of guys I work with call me Bruce as they seem to think I look like Bruce Willis , I can't see it to be honest but Ive been called a lot worse.
I never moan about any nicknames Ive been given nor would I. I would be on very shaky ground indeed as I have given a nickname to nearly everybody Ive ever met / known, including: family , friends , work colleagues , school pals , ex girlfriends / wife etc.. even my own children aren't off limits .Lnfao.. Ive given a good few of my fellow forumites nicknames with regards to lookalikes or some quirk / mannerism they display or posting style possibly. I'll keep those to myself though for reasons of diplomacy and world peace.

| Nicknames!!!!!! Posted: 12/3/2008 2:44:39 AM | As a child I was called Meccano by this person, for want of a better description, who couldn't pronounce my second name. It stuck for a while, then at the Slade a lecturer called me The Poisonous Intellectual, which was never really a catchy nickname was it? Most nicknames have been the rather unimaginative Gordy or Gordypops, with reference to my name Gordon. A few ex's have called me 'it', but that's not so much of a nickname. | |

| Nicknames!!!!!! Posted: 12/3/2008 3:13:59 AM | | Rebel Ethel, which was around the time of the song Rebel, Rebel.Whizz plus speeding snail logo on Xmas cards. | |

I couldn't imagine a man of your standing and good taste being referred to as Gordy or Gordypops. That's just wrong IMO. Maybe a swashbuckling Flash Gordon , that would be more appropriate / fitting.
OT.Slightly Do you remember the tune from the early eighties " Gordon is a moron " by Jilted John ? I'm not saying your in anyway a moron of course. Was a catchy tune as I remember, a bit punky if I'm not mistaken.
|
| Nicknames!!!!!! Posted: 12/3/2008 4:17:06 AM | When that tune was out I was relentlessly having it sung, or rather shouted, at me. To which I would reply "Just cos he's better looking than me, just cos he's cool and trendy", but it always seemed a little bit of a feeble response. God I hated that song, even though I still have a copy of it, on vinyl.
Fortunately, "Gordon is a Moron" never became a nickname. When I was a DJ we were always trying to think of a catchy nickname, and bear in mind in those days DJ's weren't quite seen as the demi Gods they are today. Dave Haslam had DJ Head, so something along those lines was tinkered with but nothing came of that. "Gordon the Groove Gangster" was kind of forced upon me, but thankfully no one ever mentioned it in polite society. The nearest I came to having a DJ moniker was 'DJG', coined by Mark Stewart, but it didn't stick either, despite me using it on a few posters around Manchester and Liverpool. Oh the pains of self publicity!

| Nicknames!!!!!! Posted: 12/3/2008 4:27:23 AM | Half Pint (in school as always shortest) Red (after one of the Fraggles, because with my hair in bunches I did look like a fraggle!) Snow Plow (siblings named me that, as I spent alot of time sulking with bottom lip out) | |

| Nicknames!!!!!! Posted: 12/3/2008 4:37:39 AM | I used to get called Ania, but that's only because it's a Polish pet name, for my real one (which isn't even Polish ).
(^^^ Did that make any sense, or was I just rambling?)
Nowadays, I tend to get babe, babes, hun, love (some people are so imaginative),.................. .....................although some still call me Nopervs, Radiant and Malted.
Johnny, I loved that song......but wasn't it called Jilted John, by Jilted John? ;-)

Lmao... Sorry about that pal. I hope I haven't opened up any old mental scars. I wouldn't wish to be responsible for any trauma you may experience. I don't want to dwell on it my learned friend but it was quite a catchy little number. What amazes me is I can remember the lyrics from that song more or less start to finish despite not hearing it for God knows how many years, and the fact I was extremely young when it was released [ maybe 10 years old , 1978 ish ?] . Yet I can't remember for the life of me where I have put my cigarettes ! lmao.. Bizarre eh ?
"Gordon the Groove Gangster"..........
You've managed to do with that little revelation , what many others have tried and failed to do . That is to render me speechless ...................................
5 minutes pass before JCL1 finds his voice again .Much to his relief and everybody else's disbelief
CWC Its only your very good taste in music that has saved you. From being not only struck off my Top 10 hippest forumite list. But also relegated to mere mortal status from your current standing as " The Godfather of Street Cred and Funkiest Forum Fish " Which is second only in Kudos and prestige to " The Don " himself. " The Daddy-Mac40" of course. I'll try and overlook that major lapse but it won't be easy and I'm not sure if I can ever look at you with the same reverence in future. Triple G.
Right Ive more than kicked the arse out of that now and I'm beginning to get on my own nerves, so never again shall we mention that unfortunate nickname. Although I must be honest and say that's not going to be easy . Particularly given my weakness for a cheap shot and a funky nickname. The End.
Mistake Raising Mssg 90

You put that in such a way that leads me to believe that you know you are correct and know what your talking about. But also in a polite enough way so as not to come across as a smarty pants or worse " Pedantic" nor make me look a tw*t. Your a shrewd lady and fully aware I am more than able to fulfil that task with no need of assistance.
I will bow to your superior knowledge on this occasion without even feeling the need to check it for verification. What I have to consider / concede to is age / experience / wisdom in this instance. IE: I was far too young at the time of this records release to be certain of my facts. Whereas it was " Your era " so to speak and you would have been twice my age at the time . bloody hell Johnny! Put those claws back in or you'll have someones eye out tiger lmfao....... You started it Mrs !
I think I'd better leave right now before I sink any deeper , think I'd better leave right now.... Taxi : for Johnny leave early
