| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 2/20/2006 11:12:33 PM | I don't know what all the hype about a harley is. They cost a fortune to buy and cost a fortune to maintain. If you have the extra dough or own a bike shop in your back yard then go for it, but I get equal satisfaction out of my '05 Suzuki Boulevard at a fraction of the cost. And my engine doesn't feel like it's going to ripe away from my chassis.
And to the guy who posted...
Whenever I see people on a motorcycle, I cringe. To be on one takes some real consideration, it's a lifestyle choice. There is more than one way to experience the freedom a motorcycle brings.
...No there isn't. | |

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 2/21/2006 2:01:06 AM | | I agree, Harleys = hype. My uncle rebuilt an old BMW bike, from the 40's I beleive, I was too young to remember what type exactly. There was a great bike, vintage. Of course its all opinion, but I can't see shelling out just for a harley stamp. | |

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 2/21/2006 2:27:30 AM | K, there ARE not 'other ways' to find/experience the feeling of freedom you get on a bike i have been around, ON harleys ALL me life HELL, my 'cousin' is even NAMED HARLEY! as for being attracted to a man FOR his HARLEY? um, i'll just take the ride thanks | |

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 2/21/2006 2:52:42 AM | You passed up on quality men because they didn't ride a bike? LOL!!
Anyway, my suggestion is to go to a bike hang out, there are plenty around and I'm sure they'd love to meet you. I'm an advisor to many of them and trust me, many of these men are loaded, but one thing for sure is the 'bad boy' image that you speak of - is just that - image. They are very intelligent and have to be to afford those bikes. They also own BMW's and other nice toy's. Don't get hung up on the bikes alone, 'cause the guy in the lexus next to you probably owns one...or two.
Maybe the next quality guy you meet - you can encourage him to buy a Harley - split the ownership of one.
Good luck. | |

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 2/21/2006 5:36:55 PM | | 38nascar, I agree with you that there is sex appeal about a man on a Harley. However why would you want to pass up a good quality man who doesnt ride? I dont think one has to have to ride to have that "bad boy" appeal. | |

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 3/4/2006 6:37:58 AM | I think there is a difference between those who ride Harleys and rice burners, even if the foreign bikes are large. Like the difference between black leather and goretex rainsuits (with reflector strips). Normally most Gold Wing riders are into lattes and California cuisine, but the SoftTail rider enjoys knocking back a beer and dancing in a roadhouse til he/she sweats. Those ladies in the latter catagory should meet up with me in Sturgis this year.

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 3/4/2006 7:12:11 AM | | I have 2 rice burners, and have been riding for 2 years. I've met men who ride Harleys and all types of bikes. Motorcycle riders, on the whole are a great community of folks, who look out for other riders, and appreciate the trip because of their bike. Everyone has a preference for what they like, loud or quiet, sport or cruisers, it's the type of ride you're after. I wouldn't pass up a chance to meet a great guy because he didn't ride a Harley, but embrace the fact he has an interest like mine...motorcycles. | |

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 12/15/2006 7:34:56 AM | Yes there is something about a guy on a Harley. Personally...I won't put down any bike...to each his own....as long as it's not a stuffy BMW sports bike...they look like giant scooters....ewe!
I can ride my own, but I just sold my bike due to some short term financial reasons...2007 Harley Davidson Sporster Lowrider 883...anniversary year (only bike I can probably hold up...lil' me). I MISS MY BIKE SO BAD! I know I'll get another one soon, though.
How about all those t-shirts you see the bikers wearing... "If you can read this the **** fell off". Well....in retaliation...I bought myself a shirt that reads "If you can read this the **** rides her own!" Funny as hell...got lots of comments wearing that shirt. Too bad that shirt has to sit on the closet shelf for awhile.
I love & miss riding my own bike...but I still prefer to be flying on the back with my legs strapped around my Harley guys waist...hair in the wind...the distinctive sound of the pipes. What a turn-on!

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 12/15/2006 11:57:12 AM | I give much respect for Harley for doing an amazing job selling the lifestyle along with the motorcycle.
But that Harley costume is not particularly safe for riding. Armored jacket, pants, boots, and gloves along with a real helmet may not look all rugged and macho, but such gear will really help to keep the skin on your body and your bones in one piece during a crash.
There's nothing macho about long-term disability after head trauma. There is nothing sexy about skin grafts after a long slide on pavement.
I ride too. I wear the right gear because I ride hard and fast.
Ride safely, everyone.

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 12/15/2006 1:56:38 PM | Why is it when a Harley Davidson is mentioned some have to jump in and start bashing the bike and calling the riders all sorts of names? It's usually the Metric riding crowd or guys who don't have the stones or disposition to ride one. Harleys are NOT for everyone, you either are or are not Harley material. It may come as a suprise to those folks that not all Harley riders are wealthy posers or "scooter trash". Maybe were just normal people that just like the bike, flaws and all, and believe in buying an American made bike that will be around long after the cheap disposable Metric bikes are piled on the scrap heap? Truth hurts..get over it.
Now, a lady on a Harley is smokin..

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 12/15/2006 6:12:02 PM | RE: bad @ss....
I don't own a Harley - don't like them - the looks are boring - overpriced - for what you pay -you don't get enough bike. Besides - EVERYONE has one.
Nor, am I a bad @ss (unless you get me po'd).
I ride a nice bike that Harley owners all look at and comment on. I can ride with the best of them. Enjoy riding as much as any one.
I make a good living doin' computer network work. Yes - I have a brain, a good paying job, no tat's, clean clothes, all my own teeth (for now), don't smell bad, like to wear nice colognes that you likely never heard of, etc...
Not everyone is a the stereotypical 'bad @ss biker' dude.
Too, I am not the only one out there either.
Prejudging and stereotyping are lame.

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 12/15/2006 7:09:53 PM | | Just because a guy owns a Harley doesn't mean he is a 'bad boy' or that he is adventureous. Some of them like the image and the type of women that the image attracts. Why base a relationship on a 'bad boy image' ...sounds like you are on the road to disappointment. | |
|
| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 12/15/2006 7:32:43 PM | Mac must be one of those guys who thought he could afford a Harley....i think he is still dreaming...sounds like he has never ridden one before. maybe he sat on one at the dealer.
by the way...sportbikes are good. people out there need your organs.....

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 12/15/2006 7:33:41 PM | | Whitepine: the reason people bash harley riders so much is because the vast majority of them today are just posers, who like to ride down the road at a legal pace, wearing a tiny black helmet with a pair of ray ban sunglasses so they can look like James Dean on a bike. They buy the black leather jacket when kevlar would be a much better choice. Engineer boots when custom racing leather would also be a much better choice. They think a 'hardtail' is a better bike because it 'looks cool', and would love to own one so they can look like Peter Fonda in Easy Rider. They don't know what the primary drive is and most don't know that their bikes use belts, not chains. They don't even have a clue how to fix what they ride. They think Harleys are the best bike out there, mechanically. Just plain ignorant about bikes. They want the 'tough guy' image, so they buy a Harley. They think Harleys are 'made in America bikes'. Many of the parts are made overseas, but few of today's Harley riders even know that. They don't ride in the rain, don't ride in the dark, don't work on their bikes, and their bikes are pristine because they spend most of the time parked in a garage. The women who are attracted to Harley riders are after the guys who they presume are tough, alpha males. Nothing could be further from the truth. The posers are fakes. Most of the true bikers from gangs are out of shape heavy drinkers or into drugs. There are some real toughs, but they are the minority. Most are just bullies that will fold quickly. You want a real tough guy, find a marine. You want the image, just hang out at a biker bar, dress revealingly, and drink heavy. You'll have all the Harley guys you want. | |

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 12/15/2006 8:13:46 PM | I ride horses, pilot airplanes and drive nice cars and trucks, and I don't care what people think about my transportation modes. I do them for me, not to impress anyone. If you are impressed by a preceived persona or generalization, then there is an invasion of fantasy or dreamland into your reality. People are people, no matter what the form of transportation. I know lawyers, doctors, and ministers who drive Harleys, and I know some realy "Bad" dudes who drive chevettes and hondas and other cars. Be sure of the person, not the transport. | |

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 12/15/2006 9:56:24 PM | | A few Harley riders are snobs about it, but other than that, a bike is a bike, and brand doesn't matter. The women groupies of the Harley snobs serve a purpose in the world of motorcycling. It's a sub-culture and as such is fun to be in and irrelevant to people who aren't. There are people who identify with beer brands, styles of clothing, and political parties. It's all the same basically. I like women who like riding motorcycles but who aren't exclusively into Harleys. This is because I do not own a Harley. I have a Rolls Knardly. It Rolls down one hill and Knardly make it up the next. | |

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 12/15/2006 10:34:07 PM | I like men who ride bikes.. Period.
I own my own bike - a 91 kawasaki. I drive it to work rain or shine, hot or cold. It gets me where I am going, costs less in insurance and gas. The whole Harely thing - to each his own.
I think what most people like about Riding is that there is a bond between strangers. There is the easy going feeling when riding, other riders will talk to you at stop lights, you can join a biker pack when driving and in alot of ways you feel more connected to your surroundings and the people there.
Guess my point is this: when was the last time you waved at a completed stranger while driving a car? Ever get out of your car when you park it and make conversation with the driver? Not likely - but when you own a bike - people will talk to you when you are parking, wish you a safe journey where ever you go, and basicly are more curious and open when you drive a bike and let's not forget the feeling of freedom.
Does it in the end, really matter what you drive when you get to experience all of that? NAH!
Keep riding free and safe!

Ya...you either can make outragoues payments our you can't! Haha... Cmon dude! That whole Harleys are for "Special People" is pure BULL! I am not gonna sit here and bad mouth Harleys or any other bike. But it is your disposition that turns a lot of folks off. I own three bikes and not a one is Harley. Does that make me a non-rider? Only with conceited fellas like yourself. Go get a Harley sticker for your pickup dude! Tell the world...we don't care. Harley Material! Hahaha...you just bought into their marketing scheme dude.
Waves from his Honda moped bye bye..
