The only guys I know who rode Harleys was the washed up grey hair dudes that want to be a protector of Old School America-uh huh...

I worked with a guy that was highly educated, married and highly admired..BUT he kept bringing back those memories of the OLD DAYS when he was poor and going up in a small town in Michigan. He caught the MIDDLE LIFE CRISIS bug..went out and bought a Harley for him...and his two sons (both in college)..he wanted to make a trip he made some 24 years ago he was free and the hair blowing in the wind....he came back whipped and exhausted..but smiling about what a good time they had..guess that is all that mattered...

I ride my own Harley, and get a lot of looks sometimes. But I tend to like bikers who wear, polo shirts with their chaps. You know, the kind that are probably dentists or managers, instead of the torn tshirt and leather/chains/stringy hair kind. Although those guys will definitely help a lady and are almost always nice and friendly. I think youre right, independence, bad boy, and adventure rolled into a nice package with CHROME!!!!!

Sportstergirl, I'm with you. I've been riding since 1973 and have passed up a few really nice men because they thought I was either a 'Babe' or I'd sell Mr. P-Nut if I got involved with them. First, I'm a 'lady' who enjoys her motorcycle and I won't give up my bike for anyone.
And I'm into long distance riding, too. Put 14k on P-Nut last year crossing the US twice, coast-to-coast. It's border-to-border in 2007; Brownsville, TX to Glacier Natiional Park....wanna join me?

As for men who ride.......it's a turn-on for me, too. Have several I ride with and I enjoy their company.

I think you're wrong about only BAD boys riding harleys....you seem to be attracted to an illusion.
Enjoying the lifestyle and looking for a partner that shares a common interest is my main objective. I would never say that I would not date a man that didn't have a Harley and certainly have had my fill of bad boys....

To each their own . . .

I don't personally own a Harley . . . but for some reason . . . I always know (95%) when a Harley is approaching and it just does something to me . . . a very good something to me!!!!

Now it can be that Harley parallels with “Bad-Boy Image” . . . I don’t know and I don’t care!

I just VERY MUCH like what I feel when I hear a Harley . . . . that thunderous sound sends a shiver. . . more of a grand sensation up my spine and makes me go wild!!!! Love it!!!!

It is okay to only like men who ride bicycles. I only date women who look good in mini-skirts, same thing as you. I turn down all the rest wether they are good or not, I don't care.

I FELL IN LOVE WITH HARLEYS AT AGE 14.... AND YES IT IS A GREAT AND EXCITING FEELING EVERYTIME I HEAR THE SOUND OF ONE. NO FEELING LIKE IT....IT IS ON THE SAME NOTE AS A RACE CAR FAN, WHEN THE ENGINE STARTS....!! AND ALONG WITH THE BEAUTIFUL SOUND OF A HARLEY, IS THE MAN ON IT..........MOST HAVE THE ROUGH AND TOUGH, DON'T GIVE A SH** IMAGE, BUT IN A REAL LIFE SENSE ARE REALLY BEAUTIFUL AND CARING PEOPLE...BIG TEDDY BEARS... THERE ARE THE FEW BAD BOYS, BUT MOST ARE JUST WANT TO BE'S...I THINK WHAT YOU ARE ATTARACTED TO IS YOUR LOVE FOR THE HARLEY IMAGE AND THE ROUGH AND TOUGH LOOK THAT COMES WITH IT.... DOWN TO EARTH "IT IS A GOOD THING" NOT A BAD THING, AND NOT A BAD BOY THING.... HAVE FUN WITH IT AND ENJOY LIFE.

I love a man that knows how to ride : ) It doesn't have to be Harley's though. I love the sound that a motorcycle makes, everytime I hear one I get excited : ) I can't wait for spring to get here. I have actually been thinking about getting my own motorcycle. My aunt teaches a cycle safety class....maybe I will get up the nerve to do it this year! You only live once!

" I ride my own HD and have a hard time finding a guy that rides. I'm into long distance riding and going all weekend. Most guys have a HD for the image, the looking cool and wanna be bad a**. Just because they have a bike doesn't mean I'll be interseted. They must be able to go the distance.
So if you really enjoy riding, than get you own bike. Than you don't have to depand on a man to go when you want to go. "

I for one second that...never depending on a man to ride again...I hold my own handlebars and love to ride...I ride a 77 Ironhead...what about you?

Ever in the Panhandle of Florida....look me up...I'll go the distance with ya, sister of the wind!

I agree with two wheels about the "costume" and the protection it affords one in the event of laying one down or worse yet a crash. Sounds like he has had a few experiances like myself. As for the "Harley Davidson" logo and hype, well thats what it is..hype. I cannot see why a woman would turn down a person because they didnt ride. Thats a very shallow and low selfesteem person. Its as if they need the "harley" to validate thier reason for living. I have riden almost every bike there is and I have to say they all have good and bad points. I have never been broke down on the side of the road on a rice burner! I have had Victory's and "stuffy" bmw's lol. The woman that said that has never riden any distance or she would appreciate a smooth even power band with no jerking or hesitation. Comfort is a big seller to any seasoned rider, yea you can spend 20 grand and have a harley, but your upkeep, and buying all the little chrome pieces will have you in tears!
Bottom line,If you have the money and a need to validate your being to others, buy yourself a harley. If you truley just want to get in the wind....get something that wont break the bank and you will have cash to do other things as well as ride.

I guess I should also say that I started riding when I was 9 years old on a 3 and a half hp mini bike,(almost as much power as a HD). I currently park my butt on a Victory Vegas with a 100 cubic inch motor. If you havent riden a Victory, you should go to a dealer and take a test ride. The power is awsome and the soothness of a fuel injected 100 cubic inch V twin is very pleasing to the bones of this old guy. I know your thinking it's not fast. well its not a sport bike (crotch rocket)but I havent met a "Harley" That I couldnt out run, stoplight to stoplight or 1/4 mile.

Cleary having a bike between your legs is 'having power between your legs'. Therefore, maybe women are looking for men with power in their spine. This would make them sure of themselves, confident, strong enough to be kind, and able to do what they decide is right which could amount to a rebellious spirit of sorts. its not, its just the result of having power between your legs, cant be screwed by other men see.

First of all, ride whatever you like. Rice burner, Harley, Vespa, BMW —whatever.

As far as 'wannabe' bad-boys, and the 40+ crowd, Grow up! We've earned the right to be and do as we please and the only real wannbe's are those who don't ride, won,t ride, CAN'T ride, or indeed, can't afford to ride. I have ridden since I was a kid and even for daily transport, rain, sleet, wind, cold. But honestly? That really sucks! So as much as I'm game for whatever might get thrown at me, I choose NOT to ride in bad weather if at all possible. Why would I? I have a car and a truck which are much more comfortable for those daily tasks. I've also had my share of Jap-Crap and THIS time wanted to buy a real motorcycle.

My attraction to Harley is not so much the mystique and the lifestyle "image" I have had my share of jap-crap over the years (all good) and this time the fact is that I wanted a real motorcycle and not a sewing machine. Y'know? Two weels, a seat, a frame and a freakin' big engine beneath you, rumbling along..... (even stock, they actually SOUND like a motorcycle.) Admittedly I passed over all the jap bikes this time, even the Harley wannbe's because they were NOT that much cheaper (a few grand) and, as much as I appreciate their 'technology' and reliability, I still say there is more resale demand in Harley, something us 40+ types pay attention to. LOL. As far as $350+/mo payments go? I guess that's were we seperate the 'men' (sorry ladies, not trying to be sexist), from the boys. I have a good job. I can afford to pay the price, have other vehicles (which had considerably higher payments than $$350 —as any car does) so my whole budget is not wrapped up in a toy payment.

On the other hand, I just wanted a Harley. Nothing fancy, no chrome monster or an accessories list that surpasses the original purchase price (seen that). I dress for comfort, safety and utility (not image) as my personal safety and comfort (and that of any passenger) is paramount. I could care less how it looks. I also do my own upkeep and custom mods (like a stereo that can be heard over the rumble!)

And in the grand scheme of things, I personally am more into cruisin than speed, and the typical rice-burner, sport bike (God love those who ride them) to me are uncomfortable to ride as are the hip-splitting Goldwings/touring bikes....)

And to all the ladies who ride.... GOOD ON YA! As much as I love those arms wrapped around me, bodies pressed together, riding your own scooter is da bomb!

But that's just me!

Everyone is attracted to different things....

You have a hard time finding an attraction with a man that doesn't have a Harley...

I have a hard time finding attraction in a man that does ride a Harley....

Just personal difference in attractions....and some stereotyping...

There was a time that if a male would contact me and he had a picture of his vehicle, I wouldn't consider contacting him. This is because that I feel that a vehicle has nothing to do with the person, only that they (probably) went into debt to have their egos put on four (or two) wheels. It wasn't until I started on-line dating that I realized that there was some type of - - of infatuation(?) with Harleys. I find them noisey and annoying. I won't not date someone with a Harley, any more than I'd refuse to date someone with a pair of purple socks, yet I find them much less attractive than purple socks.

OP: I bet all those business men that have harleys and are regular riders will appreciate the bad boy image you have of them regardless of how far off base that turns out to be.My boss and a coworker are harley men and they could not be farther from that image. (I have to laugh at that and the image of my boss and his business buddies on their road trip.) I find that stereotype funny and somewhat entertaining, thanks for the grin. Msg. 71, I am glad you specified MOST women. That is a "funny" stereotype too.

Hey I am now seeing a man that rides and he is not a bad boy. In fact he is more tame than me. I have always been attracted to men who ride and maybe cause I was brought up around them. If that is your want and desire then so be it. Nothing wrong with that.

I love riding motorcycles...I always had one of my own.
I never had a harley though...Ive never been a fan. (is that unamerican?)
I know harley's have gotten better over the years...but I can remember riding to races and ~~~waving~~~ to the harley riders on the side of the road...broken down...leaking oil...
Motorcycles are a lifestyle...and you don't need a harley...or a motorcycle to be cool.
