| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 4/5/2007 2:17:16 PM | There is just something about a man who rides a Harley. A certain sex appeal that I can't see in men who don't ride. I've passed up some quality men because they didn't ride.
it sounds so good on paper don't it.... but believe me a real Biker or MAN that rides a Harley is no different from a Guy that doesn't, they all get up in the morning and scratch their bawls the same way. the catchy "bad boy" stereotype stamp is over done.truth be known most MEN that ride Harley's rather ride alone with no passenger...as Miss13 put it...it's about preference the bike does not make the Man.

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 4/5/2007 2:47:10 PM | | I guess to address the topic of this thread, I would have to say that I've had the bad boys and they are way over-rated. Like some people have already said you can't stereotype people by appearances. I have been riding for over 10 years and it never mattered to anyone I rode with what kind of bike you had. My personal preference is for cruisers as opposed to "sport" bikes...I call them racing bikes. I have no desire to drive 150 miles an hour down Hwy 635, whipping in and out of cars. I have a Harley now, but I started out on a Suzuki Madura (anybody know what that is?). I wrecked it, and although it was still driveable, I ran across a little '74 sportster for a very reasonable price. Since I'm 6 foot tall with any kind of shoes on, it was a little small for me, so now it's a taller chopper with forward controls. It has a personality-got no use for what I call "cookie cutter" harleys. As a matter of fact, it doesnt say Harley-Davidson anywhere on it. You want see some insecure guys? Hang out while I kick-start my bike and ride in proper formation in a pack!! hehehehe...I don't ride a lot anymore, only when I feel like it. That "bad boy" I told you about? I had to keep up with him or make him "look bad". I think I've done my time in the rain and hail and freezing cold. I have a car for that s***!! Anyway, I dug this thread and had to throw in my 2 cents. Later! | |

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 4/5/2007 4:08:58 PM | Maybe it's the thought of a 45 degree engine in between someone legs vibrating or a 50 degree engine like in a Victory motorcycle which will eventually surpass the HD as THE American Motorcyle. Oh sorry this is about the sexiness of the machine. I guess you don't like inline fours.......Yamahas,Suzukis,Hondas and Kawasakis...I had to add all this info. because a short message will not get posted... Remember ;; A $2. helmet for a $2. head.... A Madura? cool....pointing up..... | |

To each their own . . .
I don't personally own a Harley . . . but for some reason . . . I always know (95%) when a Harley is approaching and it just does something to me . . . a very good something to me!!!!
Now it can be that Harley parallels with “Bad-Boy Image” . . . I don’t know and I don’t care!
I just VERY MUCH like what I feel when I hear a Harley . . . . that thunderous sound sends a shiver. . . more of a grand sensation up my spine and makes me go wild!!!! Love it!!!!

Hey Lost Angel,
Would reving up a 32 foot Eliminator with a 770hp inboard Mercury have the same effect or should I trade that bad boy for a Honda Shadow? After all, the Eliminator makes that Harley sound like a little mouse choking on a piece of cheese. Just curious.

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 4/5/2007 4:40:47 PM | | Though I used to love motorcycles, sports cars, fast boats, and airplanes, I have outgrown all that. Now, getting from point A to point B quickly in comfort is my top priority. If I need some kind of machine to impress a person, they aren't the kind of person I would be interested in having any kind of involvment with. I think I am probably lucky to be alive with all the hot rodding I have done. I wish to keep it that way with as much of my skin intact as possible. The rest of you, enjoy your toys, but please buy mufflers. The only thing more annoying than a loud motorcycle or car is those kids with their giant woofers playing "sounds" that they claim is music. I am deaf enough. I don't need help. | |

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 4/5/2007 6:45:15 PM | Something about bikes are sexy, and many of the riders are sexy. It doesn't really have to be a Harley. There are many bikes out there that are similar looking to Harley's, but don't carry the name, like the Indian cycles. And MOST men who ride bikes AREN'T "bad boys". That's a stereotype that has carried over from days of old. Bike riders now days come from all walks of life, docs, lawyers, contractors, teachers, even ministers.
They're sexy, but I certainly wouldn't pass up a good person because he didn't ride, but to each his own.

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 4/5/2007 7:15:32 PM | Hmmmmm, it appears you feel that the 2 are synonymous - Harley=Bad Boy. I'm not so sure that's the case for the last 10 to 15 years. At least from my interactions with other Harley riders.
Maybe it's the adventurous personality I'm attracted to....what do you think? I'd say that's probably it.

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 4/5/2007 7:49:31 PM | | Well since I work for Dixie Biker magazine I gotta throw my 2 cents in. I personally traded my four legged horse for an iron one. I think whether its a man or a woman the freedom you feel riding in the wind is what its all about. Of course all the hype on motorcycles having to be Harleys and the advertising being geared to the older richer men puts more Harleys on the road. My preference is Harley cuz that is all I have ridden - except once on a sport bike and I won't go back to that. But bottom line it doesn't matter whether its a Harley or not as long has it only has 2 wheels!!! Oh and by the way us ladies are learning that we don't have to ride on the back anymore!!! I rode for 14 years on the back - til the divorce - then I went out and got my own. But I still like riding on the back - sorta hard to take pics for the magazine with your hands on the handlebars! Yes there is the bad boy view to Harley riders but as our society progresses there less and less of them and more and more of the RUBS - but that is ok as long as they are riding! We do need to make society notice us when we are on our rides though!!!!! Please look out for us. I have lost several good friends already this year - not due to their riding but do to people not seeing them!!!!! | |

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 4/5/2007 7:55:23 PM | | Funny, I'm just the opposite. I won't go out with a man if he has a Harley. It's a lifestyle thing. Great either way, but the last thing I want to do is sit on the back of a bike. | |
|
| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 4/5/2007 7:56:07 PM | | Give me a break !!!! Buy a god damned harley., and get over it !!! Christ., you just labelled yourself !!!! Duhhhhhhhhhhhh | |
|
| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 4/5/2007 8:01:37 PM | Speaking of losing people, I know too many people that have lost their life on a bike. Some due to other's...some due to their own irresponsibility. I see many people here in Arizona cutting in and out of lanes on their bikes. Wearing shorts and sandals. I saw a father the other day with a 7 or 8'ish old girl on the back with no helmet. If you're going to ride, at least cover your own safety. I use to ride bikes, but never could stand riding a Harley. Personal preference. I like the wind rushing around me, but I don't like the overly obnoxious sound of a Harley drowning out everything else and I find them very uncomfortable to ride.
Having been in what could have been a fatal motorcycle accident a number of years ago, I have slowly retreated from riding motorcycles. I trust me, but I don't trust other drivers out there. I really can't say I miss it. I guess I agree with the other poster, I would rather be out on a boat now. It all boils down to personal preference as to whether we like to ride or whether we are attracted to bikers.
I find many women who ride Harleys very sexy, but I know a relationship probably wouldn't work as she is going to want to be riding on the weekends with her biker friends and I would be doing something else. Not my idea of a fun relationship.

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 4/5/2007 8:10:15 PM | * big smile* I worked my ass off to get the bike I have now, fixing my old Harley's selling them so I could get better one's , man It's good to hear that there are girls who think this way.
I wonder If they sell any men's motorcycle's where that stiff bought his sportbike.

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 4/5/2007 8:47:56 PM | ^^^^Mavvodo, WTF does that mean?
I'm with scottymac and the others who think HD is way overblown. When I bought my bike I purposefully avoided them. They're overpriced and poorly built. RUBs is right...it's all about image and HD has sold out. It's funny that Harley requires you to "live the HD lifestyle" in order to buy a franchise, but they treat their buyers like douche bags and force them to buy sh!t they don't want. HD is very corporate and that seems to be 180 degrees from the HD mystique.
The first thing most people ask when they find out I ride is "do you ride a Harley?" I $mile inside and give thank$ that I didn't buy into the hype. I put 18,000 miles on my metric scoot last year. I don't care who you are or what you ride that's a lot of miles. The truth is most riders don't care what the other guy or gal is riding. We have a common bond and only people who ride understand what that is.
And I echo pamsdolls...please look out for us.

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 4/5/2007 9:13:31 PM | I wonder If they sell any men's motorcycle's where that stiff bought his sportbike. Sorry Heff, if it's my sportbike (also a V-Twin) you're refering to, I built it 18 years ago. A replica of a non production Ducati factory racer that won 4 world titles. Although I like Harley's, any one can own one if they have the money. I tend to steer away from mainstream , hence the one-off bike that I built and the Right Hand Drive 300ZX that I use. To each their own. | |

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 4/5/2007 9:40:10 PM | Does a harley make a man adventurous?
I can relate to your topic tho, since I started snowboarding I really cant imagine having a long term lover who wouldn't try real hard to be out there loving it with me. And, yeh...they look sexy as hell doing it!
|
| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 4/5/2007 10:17:23 PM | harleys are sexy..... and i think a man that rides one is just as sexy ... guys with harleys doesnt mean they are necessarily bad... i think a nice harley does accentuate a man tho lol... wouldnt decline a nice man without one tho ... although having one does let you have an up over the latter ... | |

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 4/5/2007 11:15:07 PM | I've been riding bikes for 4 years and now have a full sized VTwin cruiser. If only I had known the effects it had on women when I was single. Now look what I did to myself getting married now. I still have women wanting more than just a ride on the back of my bike! I love my finance but in a way miss being single. I will still give the ladies a ride but thats the only ride I am allowed to give! lol
And women who like Bikers have good taiste in men. Its our sence of being and living truely free. Every one dies but not everyone really lives. Bikers know how to enjoy life to its fullest even if it means living on the edge with that sence of adventure.

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 4/5/2007 11:46:31 PM | BTW its not what you ride its that you ride that counts. All Riders have something in common that seperates us from the Cagers. Someone did make a point and Sport Riders and VTwin riders are in a seperate class. I do group rides almost weekly along with cruiser touring. Most of those I ride with are all bikers who ride mainly Metric VTwins and some Harleys. We all get along and don't know each others bike. Most Cagers couldn't tell a Kawasaki Vulcan, from a Yamaha VStar from a Harley. Especially when most of us replace our stock pipes for custom loud exhaust and debage our tanks to be our own custom machines.
(Sorry this is for the Harley Guys) And yes a trained ear can always tell the sound between a Metric Vtwin and Harley; I've heard a Honda VTX 1300 with BUB Jug Huggers and could not tell the differance. Maybe they retarded the timing to be off to sound like a Harley who knows. Most die hard Harley fans who ride old school Shovel Heads or early model Evos are going to be disapointed. All 2007 Harleys are Fuel Injected and with the Emision control laws they will also all be Water cooled. (Water Cooled bikes produce less emisions) When that happens what will distinguise a Harley from a Metric other than its Offset timing to produce its distinguised sound? I personally like the New Harley Softail because of its Fuel Injection, huge increase in power for a 96ci engine on rubber mounts and huge improvement in reliabity over the previous generation bikes. 6 Speed Transmition is amazing! My bike is Retro meets new age like a 1990 Harley Fatboy with a modern edge. And with my Cobra Longs I get the deep sound that VTwin enthusiast look for. And best of all I get allot of Harley guys saying nice bike.. What is it?

| Men who ride Harleys Posted: 4/6/2007 2:34:37 AM | | Brand loyalty is a wonderful thing, The orange and black is just right at Halloween. So are most of their clothing line, come to think of it. I have nothing against men who ride Harley's, as long as they also drink Coke. It's the men who ride Yamaha's and drink Pepsi that you have to watch out for. They are in the following segment of their market demographic. | |
