anywhere with mountains and forests, mild temperatures and lots of open wild space around, but still close enough to a large town to do things and get things I need.

My apologies for resurrecting a very old thread but a few posts on various threads have got me thinking.............

Quite a few people seem to be really dissatisfied with the UK for whatever reasons, one post springs to mind where the UK is described as "a sh1t hole".

If it's really that bad why are those people still living here? The world is your lobster nowadays and, given that fact, where would you choose to live..... and why?

I guess my first choice would be here! I love the UK for it's people and it's scenery, don't much like it's Government, detest it's weather, but it's what I know and what I'm comfortable with. I'm a great believer in the fact that 'The grass isn't always greener'.

If money was no object I would have a property on the beautiful island of Menorca and stay there May to October and also have a property in the UK though probably not Hudds (where I am now). Maybe somewhere on the East Coast or the Gower Coast. Why? Because I love Menorca, it is peaceful and beautiful, doesn't get the lager louts in summer and very child friendly. Why the East Coast/Gower Coast again, because of the beautiful scenery and peacefulness...

I couldnt live here given the chance too many liberal do-gooders protecting the feral,an scum bags, too many foreigners, an no justice,or death sentence,

but given the chance to live else where It would be aus, because they believe in managed immigration, an the population is less than here,
an florida, both for the weather,

A very interesting resurection Daft.

I'm very fortunate in having dual citizenship, so when my position in the UK became untenable I got on a plane and returned to the good life.

I talked to Pauline Mab on another thread, it sounds as if she's a prisoner in her own home. I couldn't live like that.

The Uk is a lovely country with so much to see and do, but at present I think it's best to avoid it.

I don't think it'll be long before people from various countries will be warned about visiting the UK, much the same as warning to travellers go out about visiting other third world countries.

I am very happy where I am, truthfully.

Which is Poole, Dorset, 5mins from Bournemouth & the nightlife, 5 mins from the beach, & as much fantastic scenery as you would want. Warmer than most UK places but not too hot for me.

I'm not a prisoner in my own home, I just have very inconsiderate neighbours and unfortunately I'm not in the position to buy because my job is precarious.
There's also nothing wrong with my flat, it's just a bunch of anti social idiots that spoil things for everyone. The person who threatened to do me in is long gone, I am just left with mr party animal and miss drug dealer downstairs.

I'm sure that some people put up with much worse, I'd be happy to be where I am if the anti social mob fecked off.

I'd have to try a few places out first, you know the old saying "it's a nice place to visit but you wouldn't want to live there."
I don't think I'd stray too far from my hometown though, my family, friends and memories are all here.

Having just come back from Pembrokeshire, somewhere down there would be v. nice. A clifftop home over looking the ocean would be bliss.

As Daft Vader said... the grass is not always greener! I did live in such a place on the side of a hill, on a 2o acre block of land, in South Australia, it was lovely, blissful view.. until we were invaded by millipedes, horrible things, falling off the ceiling onto our beds the work tops everything, everywhere. Australia, as a country, fine lived the dream, but after the first couple of years I missed home... took me another two years before I decided to come back, having had enough of boiling my brains out in sun that is too hot to enjoy most of the time! So hey hey, grass is greener, but the UK is the greenest!
