| Have you ever paid to use a dating site? Posted: 2/20/2006 9:34:12 AM | | Generally a waste of money. So often, the paid sites maintain members who have been gone for months, so even if you pay to e-mail a response, they can't read them unless they re-join. It's one of the greatest cash cows in the internet business. | |

Posted: 2/20/2006 11:08:50 AM | | i was on yahoo once... but like 75% of the messages i got were about goin to another site to look at adult pix.... so it was a waste of money... this one has introduced me to people in 4 states... most of whom are really cool and worth every minute i spent talking to them... from what i know from other people...... other sites dont give you as easy of a time meeting people... so its nice not having to pay for simple

| Have you ever paid to use a dating site? Posted: 2/20/2006 11:42:24 AM | I have. But I suspect that most of them are populated with expired ads and fake ads placed there by the site in order to lure guys into paying to join. It took me a while to figure out that most of these sites are just taking advantage of vulnerable people. As much as I dislike laws pertaining to the Internet, a law against the operators of a site placing fake ads on their site would be a very good idea. Fraud is fraud. Even when its on-line.
So thank you for running an honest site.

| Have you ever paid to use a dating site? Posted: 2/20/2006 11:59:21 AM | | Yes, but I did not for long. It seemed to be a waste of money. At first I joined a "premium" site because I though it would introduce me to more serious people. That was not the case. I will never pay again. | |

Posted: 2/20/2006 12:15:39 PM | | I agree with a lot of the others on here, it is a waste of money as when you are in credit there are very few responses and magically when you have no credits left you get 4 or 5 that you need to recredit yourself to see there messages. It's all agame to keep you coming back and paying more, sooner or later everyone catches on!

| Have you ever paid to use a dating site? Posted: 2/20/2006 12:29:50 PM | 68% of americans on this site have paid for a dating service
47% of Canadians on the site have paid for a dating service. The canada stats are low because plentyoffish has around 70% marketshare in canada. That means many people who are signing up have never used a dating site before.

| Have you ever paid to use a dating site? Posted: 2/20/2006 12:40:09 PM | I have been on and off of Laval*** many times, before finding POF. I still have my profile there, at least until I use up the credits that I had purchased, prior to joining POF. My friends often joke with me that I helped pay for Laval***'s big shiny sign on their building in Toronto!
I think what frustrated me most was buying the credits, sending the email to someone that interested me, and then never having them open/read the email. I always thought that I should get back my credits for that, but alas it never happened!
At least here, even if someone chooses not to read my email or messages, I'm not having to fork money all the time!

Posted: 2/20/2006 12:52:28 PM | | no i have not ever pais for a dating sight but i'll tell ya something go to your profiles in the pay sites and add your email adress....just break it up abit so the system does not recognize as an email adress. I've done this on all fo them and it works good. But like others have mentioned also, thier all all on POF anyway.

| Have you ever paid to use a dating site? Posted: 2/20/2006 1:32:05 PM | Yes ! But also In the Online Dating world there are alot of scammers that troll on FREE sites mainly from Eastern European countries that post profiles that say they live in the U.S. & then you rspond & the story changes !! They go to the sites because they are FREE so I think If there wasa SMALL charge say $5-8 a month that would keep away the freeloaders!!
ALSO just putting in my 2 cents POF DOES MAKE MONEY OFF THIS SITE!! just look at all the GOOGLE ads on every page!! NEW POLL how many people have clicked on one of those ads? They get paid when you do!! just a little FYI for the non Internet savy!

| Have you ever paid to use a dating site? Posted: 2/20/2006 1:58:50 PM | | yes, I've tried several but never had much luck. I haven't had much luck on POF either. Most of the women I've tried to contact can't even take time to send a reply. I wonder what it's like to be THAT important, THAT busy, or THAT cool. I guess I can't complain, at least I don't have to pay for the rejection this time around. I'm beginning to think that ALL the 'net dating sites are full of sh*t | |

| Have you ever paid to use a dating site? Posted: 2/20/2006 2:40:36 PM | Hell No...
I'm not serious about this anyway, it's just a little fun and flirting, but who knows, I usually connect with woman who I have known personally for a while.
