Some of them have compatabilty profiles where they match you up with someone based on who your are as an individual which I think is better than going oh she's pretty but her profile says nothing except that she wants a hot guy who will make her laugh i'll mesage her and see what happens. And after not getting any responses because your not compatable you give up. this site is great but it's still shootin randomly and hoping you find someone whose profile has some depth thought and effort put into it, in other words someone worth knowing. | |

Posted: 2/22/2006 6:06:35 AM | I paid a couple of different companies, then panic set in when I tried to figure out how to stop a monthly charge from being on going. I was charged for months I didn't want and ripped off. Then wrote to the ones I wanted too. Only to find out they were not being truthful. One sent her phone number and when I called her husband answered the phone, we had a long talk. He said I had been herassing her , I set him stright about that. I talked him about how to get on the internet, and he was blown away , he said now he knew how she came up with all these men, I wished him good luck . LOL I could n't get a refund . I see she is on this site. She is a blond in KY . On welfare, married 6 times. etc. One I let get away, WOW, the very first one, I could n't believe it was true. But it was for real. Screwed that one up. However no way to pay again.
Being a happy camper, I just crawled back in my little hole and peek out now and then. LOL
Ones that want and honest guy, are the ones that set a guy up, and make him lie. Ones that like to cuddle, hold hands, are fat, average means overweight and not active. Except the one that can't say they are thin. You have to dig them out. The ones that don't have pictures are scary when you get there pictures and think OH MY GOD ,what have I done now.
Ones that are to far away are always desireable. The best looking one are always active, and don't really have time.
I don't know where women find the time for men, I keep my own house and it is all I can do to keep up with it, and it still looks like a mans house. LOL LOL LOL no women's touches. | |

Posted: 2/22/2006 6:42:45 AM | yes, i have an ad on a different site that pretty much is for married people only. it is rather exclusive and the data base has no fakes or come ons. i have signed up for a number of "free sites" but in reality, only he signing up is free. if you actually wanted to use the site to meet someone, you then have to pay to make contact. i guess that is why plenty of fish is halfway decent. it really is free and i have contacted people through here. the service is limited as to features, but they don't immediatlely ask for your credit card.
oh and there is a spot to indicate status. if someone finds my profile, i don't have to hide the fact that i am married. | |

Posted: 2/22/2006 8:28:52 AM | Never have, never will. This place has WAY more selection and frankly, why pay for the opportunity to be shot down. It's cheaper to go out for coffee than pay for dating services that don't have high yeilds anyhow.
Personally I think this site needs a complete redesign, it looks rather 'unprofessional' in comparison, in my opinion but when you're taking apart YABB it gets that way. (I know web design).

Posted: 2/22/2006 10:44:08 AM | | Yes I've used paid dating sites before, and the only difference I find is that on some dating sites there's more stuff you can put in your profiles such as interstes and whatnot. Some have compatibility tests and stuff like that, which I sometimes wonder how credible they are. But when it comes down to it, I haven't had that much more success with paid sites than on here. I 've met more girls from other sites, but they never seemed interested beyond the first date. And another thing, a lot of people complain about never getting any responses to emails that they send out, it's no different on pay sites. At least here you can say "at least I didn't waste 20$-30$ to email someone who doesn't give a ****". | |

(don't worry,I'm not knocking the geeks.if it weren't for them,we'ld still be making fire with sticks and the occassional lucky lightning strike)
being a truck driver,single father,and not much for bar hopping,if it weren't for sites like this one,I'd probably never find who I'm looking for.(not that I've found her yet).
this particular site kicks way more a## that the others,simply because it's a free one.day to day living costs way too much as it is...so to the masterminds of this site...KUDOS!!!

Big fish...The real question you should ask in your poll is IF YES, did you cancel your paid membership after finding POF?
Answer is YES. its a better site, better people, Forums and events make it possible for people to meet as a group.
This site is clearly the best! works the best on the computer as well as metting people.
