| What do you consider disturbing music ??

first and foremost rap: yuuuuuccccckkkkk theee worst kind of music ever
grunge(especially Nirvana the worst band ever): they called this punk for my generation BS
prog rock: just plain annoying and I dont have the attention span to listen to a concept album that goes nowhere(and that goes triple for Pink Floyd)
most music past 1968 with exeptions here and there
all modern country and R&B
everything in the top 40
those are the most disturbing music bar none | |

I think I'm mostly disturbed that people actually listen to this stuff, and I find it hilarious when a DJ -- who should be incredibly knowledgable about all the great stuff out there that isn't being pushed by major stations and corporations -- and they get all excited about some crappy new song, and act like huge fans and announce they're going to play it. Get real. I doubt most mainstream DJs listen to most of what they play. | |

It is a tale about a love struck man that packs himself in a box and has himself mailed to his girlfriend that moved away. When the girl receives the box, it is so well packed that she has no option but to take the pair of scissors and jam it into the box to open it up. Unfortunately, she winds up putting the scissors through the man's head. Although I know what is going to happen in the song, it still makes me whince whenever I hear it. | |

Remember hearing Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit for the first time? Do you remember the music before it? We were all used to this type of music, before the newer bands tilted our fragile, safe existences. Nirvana disturbed me in the same way as TOOL did. | |

Most of the would be singers should keep it where it belongs: in the car or the tub. And whoever invented those machines should have been euthanized before they made their "contribution" to society. | |

You can't spell CRAP without RAP.
I'm a fan of all kinds of music, so I guess there's nothing disturbing. Maybe death metal, but it's the lyrics and the belching into the microphone that bugs me. The music kicks ass, though. | |

People that use sound effects and call it music (that's not music ... that's noise)
Regaetton (hispanic rap rip-off) and anything else spoken word (like rap) ... did we feel sorry for all the poor slobs who couldn't sing, and decide to give them an outlet where they can express themselves too? (if I really wanted to hear someone talk while the music is playing, I'd start a conversation)
... and the maddening, repetitious drone of the ice cream truck theme songs (now there's a reason for a shoulder-launched rocket) | |

Why must the rap singers grab their crotch and try and act like a bad ass... Where I come from if you grab at your crotch you need a woman or some ointment...Neither one makes you a bad ass. | |

Funny you should mention VU. Nico's voice used to send shivers right through me. Especially on songs like All Tomorrow's Parties and Femme Fatale. Lou's voice was different, but his lyrics, and the way he sang them, were just as bizarre. Black Angel Death Song and, particularly, Heroin, when he sang that line about being "Jesus's Son". Scary stuff for a young person to listen to! | |
