I tried to be modest in my pics for exactly that reason. I also tend to ask girls how current their pics are. I think everyone sees their best pics and think, "yeah, that's what I look like all the time" so they don't even realise they are kinda BS'ing you. If they have about 5 pics up there, I assume they look like the worst one.

That's why I put one up of me in jeans and t-shirt... that's what I usually wear, so I might as well have a pic that shows what I look like on a normal day.

I've been told that my pictures don't do me justice (I am not very photogenic lol) , but I have never been told I don't look like me. I think that when people do not look like their pictures they were projecting something different than what they were, or really outdated pictures.

Maybe we just don't have a camera crew that follows us around all the time because we're not so self obsessed with ourselves and need lots of bar pictures with our faces scrunched together with our (almost always) hotter friends.

They always say I look better then my pictures. That don't mean anything though because I would like to meet a guy who likes me for who I am in real life. It's not all about looks.

So im told I look better in person, I try and update them every month if not less than that. Just to be accurate. I can tell when someone is being insecure when they ask me if they look like their pics and if im happy with what I see. Probably because you can see disappointment written over my face..lol

I update my pics every week or two... but it's an exercise in futility.

I don't expect to meet anyone on this site. I live in a really stupid part of the country where a lot of people don't even have a computer, and every girl I've met online around here (from this site) has been heavier than she claimed.

That said, there were posters in the forums here who thought I was fake. They said I spoke far too intelligently and I probably had a fake profile... which I found amusing. I mean, I am not even all that great looking anymore. I mean yeah, I'm still cute - but nothing like a few years ago.

Anyway, that was what prompted me to take a pic with my screen name written on my palm.

No. I'm not two-dimensional. Maybe if I get run over by a steamroller, I'll look like a photo.

I think I am too recognizable, thus, had to choose a law abiding profession. I wish I did blend in with the crowd, but nope I am the crowd. j/k Seriously, I think I look better in the mirror, so I may not be that photogenic in most pics. I put over 300 pics of myself on a well known photo sharing site that have almost all of my expressions and silliness including the bad pic's, NO nudes btw. It took a while to put all the pic's on the site but if I am interested in someone I would want them to know me, and hiding who you are, or what you look like should be a big red flag to yourself, me thinks.

Studio pic's are a big red flag too. If you haven't already seen Christina Ricci without makeup. Just search Christina Ricci without makeup. gimme a minute babe not yet j/k again Natural beauty is more pleasing to me, so Christina would be more appealing, without all the makeup. That's just my personal preference.

More than four pics of yourself on a profile reminds me of what my mom always told me "Pretty is, what pretty does" So unless you are illustrating the variety of activities you enjoy, which would be great, then four pic's ought a do it, til you think you want to meet, then photo sharing might be the next step before meeting to make being able to recognize each other easier.

For the pic's that you no longer resemble, I would save those for sitting by the fire in the winter time going through old photo album's, saying see how cute I used to be. When you fall in love and grow old with someone, you will always remember how cute, or beautiful, or handsome, or what ever qualities about that person that you fell in love with had at the time you fell in love. It's frozen in your mind forever, and those fond memories will keep you together as you grow old together. But pic's of what you used to look like prior to falling in love never enter the equation, except as a form of deception = we won't be falling in love. Oh sure the sex was good, but the foundation was weak seems to ring a bell of failed relationships.

"The older we get, the better we used to be" is a state of mind. You can always get better, healthier, and feel good about yourself again, if you want to. Instead of trying to get a few extra miles from old pic's. Fix what's broke and get another 250,000 miles. The road may not be so bumpy, and you might appreciate the scenery more. Why the big rush to go no where anyway.

Of course this is just a blog, and just my personal opinion, and I am not even a mere spec on a gnats behind in this great, harsh, but wonderful universe we live in, and in few generations or sooner no one will even know that I ever existed here. If we were all alike life would be extremely dull and boring. The shades and colors of your character are much more interesting and exciting to me than the out dated photo's.

Peace, love, dove

^^^ I love how someone with no pics feels that 4 pics ought to do it....

LOL

People here are strange. I won't talk to a girl who has less than 4 pics.

And for a poster further up there, a person CAN look different than their pics even if the pics are really of them.

I met a girl a few years ago who was slim and pretty in her pics. Said she was "athletic" on the phone.

And she was at least 60 lbs. overweight in person. She had tacked on a TON of weight in just over a year.

That is a nasty surprise.

So now, I ask for a pic from a cell phone before meeting - no more nasty surprises. But the last girl I met had her friend take a picture. .... and let me educate you on how women do this.

All of her pictures were straight on her face - no agles. The cell phone pic she had taken, she was sitting at a table, kind of close to it.
Why? Because she had a long, crooked, ugly nose, and was fat. Doing those two things in pics made her appear far more attractive than she really was.

That's deceitful.

People should just be honest about what they look like, and everything else for that matter. I met a girl a few years ago who lied about having kids, and then called me "shallow" for ending the date as soon as I found out.

I said, "well, you lied... so if I'm shallow, you're f*cked up in the head."

I'd rather be shallow.

Sorry for all your disappointment in meeting in person. I tried to focus the picture on the face and arm and body. I met some in person, and they said I look better in person
than my picture. I also try my best to update my pictures to recent one.

Guys always say that my pics don't do me justice (much better lookin' IRL). Nice compliment.

Keep in mind that this is on the first date when I have put some "effort" into how I look. Now if they were to "wake up with me" ( I realize this is unlikely) the first time they saw me. Might be a different story.....*grin*

I always get told I look better in real life. I'm not photogenic at all, I can accept this. I hate taking pictures of myself! I always looked warped because I'm so f-n tall.

yes i do.....

i take a new pic., each month with my web cam., and also change my profile pics., regularly.
i know some people aren't photogenic but there is nothing worse than turning up for a meeting and finding the person who you are expecting to see doesn't look at all like their posted profile pics.,.....

.....except maybe that they have lied about their true height.....
but that's another thread altogether.....lol

It's tricky because I change my hair colour sometimes and so my photos can go from having blonde hair to dark hair in a month or two.

I have surprised a couple of people.................LOL.

Considering the fact that I wear my hair different every day (curly, straight, up, down, braided) and I can wear either contacts or glasses - no I don't always look like my pictures.

When I go on a first meet they can fully expect that I will show up looking as they have seen me. After that - who knows but at least by then they know me as a person and not just a picture.
