Personally, I probably would've earned his trust and after he's out one day, then feed the rats to the python. Just kidding!

People that freak out at the concept of a pet rat make me laugh at how obtuse they are for being unable to break away from conditioned negative mental associations...
A wild animal is just that, wild. It lives in the wild, which we all know isn't all that clean to begin with, and thanks to Man's neglectful "helping hand", it's dirtier than ever for the animals. However what these pet purists fail to realize is that their beloved cats/dogs/traditional pets were once wild animals themselves, they've simply had a few centuries head start as far as domestication goes.
Wonder what I mean? Stop grooming your dog for a few months and check in to see how "clean" it still is, or what your house smells like... Heck as a non-pet owner I can easily smell the stench of a person's groomed dogs/cats when entering their home (while they've simply grown accustomed to living with it 24/7)... Better still, set it loose in the wild and track it down months later to see how they look, smell, and what diseases they may be carrying...
It's like the situation with pigeons. When the average suburbanite hears the word "pigeon", they think "feathered rat". Yet say the word "dove" and they think of the clean white bird of peace... Yet the two birds hail from so close of the same family that there isn't any firm distinction between the two aside from average size and coloring. Meaning if you were to take a baby pigeon from the wild, get it checked out/immunized by a vet and raised it in your home, it would be just as "clean" as any other pet bird people raise.
Honestly mankind is so fundamentally dense in mass numbers it amazes me how we're still going strong today...

I have 6 snakes, and 4 rats who the **** cares? I love having them as pets, they aren't loud, the snakes are peaceful as long as handled.
I think it's ****ing petty to judge someone baised on what kind of pet they have and what they name them, but I guess we know why you're single.

| my date had pet rats ! Posted: 7/6/2009 7:45:58 AM | I bred rats for many years. All clean, healthy, happy and ideal pets for small homes. Rfur (as in R 'fer Rat) used to come about town with me. I had a hoodie that he liked to nap in while I was walking. If I stopped to talk, he was out of there like a flash for pats and hugs. Funny thing was that all the girls loved him and wanted to hold him, while all the guys jumped a mile and wouldn't come near.
I have guinea pigs, spiders and fish at the moment, but as soon as I get a home big enough, the snakes will start arriving.
