Maybe I was?"--Think I was -----12teen? my 1st time. Think that may have been in 69? Just to let u know though! One of the best concerts "I think was --"PINK FLOYD!"- Iverwin Stadium, Hamilton, Ontario. Back in 75. Slept on the sidewalk for 2 daze. That was the daze of festival seating. Some of u (many maybe) fishies will not remember those daze of the festival seating. | |

| first concert? Posted: 5/27/2007 10:55:44 PM | I saw BTO years ago too, and of course I used to see Bruce Allen's Vette with gold wheels driving around in Kitsilano. I used to know Blair Thornton as well because he lived up the street from me (nice guy, paid off his parents home for them). But I also remember when Heart was still a Seattle bar band, and they played my high school's Valentines Day dance when I was in grade 10.
The 1st band I ever saw was when I went down to Seattle when I was a kid. It was Black Oak Arkansas. See if you can find an old album called Raunch and Roll Live, it was recorded during that concert.
What a blast the old days were. For $6 you'd get to see a major act like Zeppelin, and a couple of back up bands, and the shows never ended before 1am. Geez, saw yes 4 times, nazareth 4 times too (one year Mahogany Rush backed them up, the next year was Rush). You name the band, I saw them.
Too bad Seattle went and built the King Dome back then, because they sucked all the major acts away from Vancouver and Portland, because a band could make lots of bucks playing a venue that held 65,000 instead of doing the Colliseum that only cramed in 20,000.
Rowdiest concert I went to was Deep Purple back in '73. Stuff flying all over, and some guy even managed to sneak in a flame thrower or something like it.
And the Sha Na Na gig up at the war Gym at UBC in '76 was a bit rowdy too. A major brawl broke out right in front of the stage (and the stage was built on the gym floor with only a 6" rise), Bowser of all people helped to break it up.
Does anybody remember lid joints???
Oh well, if I keep on like this I'm gonna break out in zits again.
Cheers,
Rob | |
