I just like the thrill. It has nothing to do with accepting a date.

Look at your ad carefully if you are getting enough responses. There is also an area here where people help each other with profile composition.

It is not the harley that draws responses.

I think we should get a few things straight. first there is a difference between a biker, a motorcycle rider, and a motorcycle owner. A biker rides no matter what the weather does, rain, cold ,whatever. A motorcycle rider rides on weekends or on vacation. A motorcycle owner rides when the weather is perfect, his buddies are riding and his bike is clean. I am a biker, I regularly put 30-40,000 miles a year on my bike, I've ridden through 39 states so far and planning to finish the rest. I don't care what you ride or what you think because I am doing my thing not yours. Sadly I have to agree that a lot of harley riders these days are owners but again it's their thing not mine. If you wave I'll wave back, if your on side the road I'll stop to see if I can help no matter what you ride...what matters is your riding.........

I only read this thread to about page four, my apologies if I walk on anyones toes by repeating anything.

I have had bikes since I was 6, and some years I have 3 or more parked out front. I have had a custom harley as my main ride for the last 20 years. Last year I welded up a hardtail frame and planned on bolting a 103 cu. incher into it. At the last moment, I came accross a yamaha 1100 cc engine with 12.5 to one pistons, and a few other mods, for $350....so I put that in, and built the rest of the bike around it. I am very suprised. I get more compliments in one hour than I did in a year with any of the custom bikes. This thing is tongue hangin out fast, handles good, and you'd better be wearin earplugs! Only drawback is that people are turning around to look, about a block away, that is a little more attention than I need!
I guess my point is this. I ride....because I LOVE TO RIDE! I've had other bikes, even THE bikes, 40 grand customs, and 2oo dollar basket cases. I never owned a bike for the wow factor, or the status. I never concerned myself whether or not I was accepted because of what brand of machine I was on. (good thing, because a lot of the harley owners do a double take and then turn up their noses! Not knowing who I am) it's a classic argument that pits one brand against another. Having said all that....heres the meat and potato's of my entry.

There is just something about a harley davidson. It is a machine, designed by a man, using his acquired knowledge, as a platform to reach a desired outcome, a bike with an engine. There is 17 different ways to reach that goal, and even though each version meets its design criteria, there is usually one design that meets everyones tastes. That just happens to be HD. The sound, the chrome, the name, the vibration (which is actually poor engineering, since it is not desirable in any internal combustion engine!) the paint, the .....______________(insert personal preference here) whatever it is, it meets the tastes of women. The women who quantify the man, by the bike, are gauging him, by some quality that appeals to them, about the bike. True....some men are raised from the depths of loserdom, by having a HD...in Arizona, those same guys can pack a smith and wesson on their hip, and I assure you, you will treat them with more respect because of it.

Anyhow...regardless of the status of the man, the quality of the ride, or the things one can't define...the fact remains that softtail/hardtail, night train, dyna, road king, fat boy, or the ones not listed...are chick magnets. Slice it, dice it, boil it or fry it...even if you can't for the world figure it out...it is what it is, and it ain't a gonna change by tomorrow noon.

Amen

I don't know much about women and Harley’s hell after 17 years of what I thought was a good marriage, only to find out it wasn't chances are I don't know that dang much about women. I do know that earlier this summer I bought a scooter and a Jaguar, must have been the divorce thing. Buy the end of the summer the Jag had 500 miles and the scooter 1500. This past week I bought a Harley, why because it is American, one of the few quality items still built in the US. If you have ever seen a Harley dealership on the weekend you see a family with all walks of life....From the first time on it was pure heaven....
I ride with men and a few ladies all are fun and it is a nice way to meet a diverse group of people….. Live to ride!!! Or Ride to live either way is fine!

If it's not Harleys, it's how tall the guys is. Or how long he is. Or his bank account. Or the number of girls he's banged. Or his tats. Etc. etc.

My point being, don't purchase or do something just because it attracts women. Because there's always going to be something women want that you *don't* have.

But if you're into Harleys, well you're lucky, because I guess they're an item on the "Sexy" list, as opposed to say computers or rockets. lol

Its not necessarily the virator thing. I grew up on bikes and there is a sense of freedom that you have on a bike thats like no other feeling. Its the wind in yout face. Looking around and seeing the world as it is with nothing hampering your view. For me its not a Harley its bein on a bike period. I love it. I will have one next summer and I dont want to ride ****. I want to drive. I had my own bike years agp and I will have another one.

"Assembled" in the USA using Italian electrics, Japanese (Honda/Showa) forks & rear shocks, Mikuni carbs etc etc...
I'm not sure what parts Harley makes at their factory in Brazil....

In Britain, we have a fair amount of people who own Harley's..........but by far the more popular type of bike is the Dual Sport ( onroad/offroad ) bikes like BMW's....the same as in my profile picture. These bikes outsell other types 3 to 1.

I have a large amount of friends who are all motorcyclists, both men and women....who pretty much revolve their entire life around motorcycles.Literally going to work to earn enough money to fund their passion and hobby.Working and the daily grind is just a required evil to enable them to do what they want.

Twice Last year, a group of us rode from Britain down to North Africa....most of us had never met before, but we got along great. Doctors, Engineers, Bricklayers, retired military, house wives,....huge spread of people who would normally never meet on a social basis.

The girls who were not riding their own bikes ( 12 of them were riding bikes ) said they loved the idea that their partner had a sense of adventure/ spirit/ not boring / tied to work etc etc.

An ex-girlfriend also told me that she used to love the thrill of just taking off for some place on a map when we had some spare time, and actually seeing, smelling and feeling the trip....rather than being cocooned inside a heated, air conditioned car.

Feel free to say hello if you are an Aussie by the way.....I am biking around Australia for six months, from November.

Since I'm a woman, I'll respond. I've been around harley's all of my adult life. Your choice of bike/biker is just that - your choice. I prefer them because they exude power, excitement, adventure, fun, fellowship, etc....
Also, they just sound and feel so darn good! Again, it's a preference. The sound of a harley coming down the road is priceless. You always have to turn and see who it is and what the bike looks like. Since I've been around harleys for so long, I've realized that these riders are "real people" who would give you the shirt off of their backs. This group of people are always doing something nice for the community. A poker run to support something or somebody that needs help. Good people. I'm sure other bike riders other than harley riders do the same thing. Again, back to choice. Whether some want to admit it our not, being on a harley is an American status symbol. I grow 2' when I get on one. It's just a great feeling. Good looking man, smell of leather, rumbling sound between your legs, it just doesn't get any better than that! So, I can only speak for myself. I love harleys and harley riders. I just bought a new one last week! You'd think I'd just given birth

Harley or not... What warm-blooded American woman does not enjoy a vibrating piece of machinery between her legs????
If there's a hot man to hold on to... What could be better?

After reading this post you my heart kind of melted as I held my head high. She knows what she is talking about. My dad was a hard core patch holder and I have been on the things all my life. It isn't about the bad boy image you put out there, or how loud you be. It is more about seeing different things, enjoying a side of life that few experience, and just being a 'good guy'.
So for all you that have this fear of bikes/bikers let it rest!!! It's all good and it is manily 'good people'.

I own a custom Harley. I rode Triumphs and Bsa'a most of my life in Britain where I grew up. Always wanted a Harley "D" as we so lovingly call them. Not just the prestige, but that throaty rumble, and yess that sense of freedom, the comraldry of other riders, women and men. I rode from Pa to Sedona and thru New Mexico and Texas last year, rode by myself, attended native gatherings, canyon blessings, visited reservations and sacrred places I probably would not have gotten into in a car or truck. Out West I was treated with respect, even the truckers "watched out for me". Something they don't do back East here. Now I'm discovering America one state at a time!
Something just changes the minute I climb on my machine, it took us a while to bond and it's a totally different style of riding than what I grew up with. I test drove 17 different bikes in Daytona before settling with the Fatboy, then proceded to customise him after months of research. All my troubles and worries disappear, it's my therapy. . . I'm no idiot, am highly educated and respected for my work.
But nothing beats that purrr and yess, guys the rumble between my legs.
But also I feel safe and at home on a larger bike. It is a feeling of Power I guess ;) I have two sons, one competed in motorcross with Euro bikes(KTM's) , the other raced for Team Kawasaki, they both look at me with envy and jokingly say someday they'll be able to afford a Harley like mine. More like fight over mine when I'm gone.
For now I'm just enjoying the ride !

sdb1, right on! it's that bad boy biker thing for sure, at least for me! that five o'clock shadow just gets me......mmmmmmm

I don't think you need to say you have a Harley on here to attract women. if I like a guy and he doesn't ride a Harley or any type of bike, it's not a deal-breaker. on the other hand, he could ride a bike and be a jerk and I wouldn't want to be around him.

I've had motorcycles for over 20yrs, ridden for 35, and would never own a Harley, I like to ride, not walk. My wife hates Harleys and thier "image". She is fine perched on the back of a sport bike or sport tourer, my dual sport was a bit uncomfortable for her and my cafe racer was too loud.

If you took her to a bike shop and gave her the choice of all bikes and all makes, she would pick a Hayabusa or ST1300 before any cruiser much less a Harley.

A friend who rode a BMW K1200rs used to like to pull up to Harleys and say "at least my Briggs and Straton will cut grass".

I did learn not to pull wheelies with her on the back, took a week to get her fingernails out of my ribs.

Don't forget Harleys "sport bike"...motor made by Porche

The most American made, American sourced motorcycle is the Honda Goldwing. Great bike, but too much of the old man image.

Life begins at 150mph. If you've never lifted the front tire at 100mph or ran your knee on the pavement through the corners, your not riding. Anyone can ride a Harley, it takes balls to ride a sport bike. And the women I know like balls.
