and a 1986 flhs harly davison with h&h cases the vibrasho for the woman is waht most like un tell you own one you will never kno waht its about or evin have the feeling it gives you of freedom ive sean the word white trash on this thred and giys ho oveisly are too lazy to or to cheep to part with the cash to by one waht a pitty

Posted: 7/18/2006 1:49:40 PM | Actually, Harley Davidsons are considered among the worst bikes on the market. The woman I am currently dating likes BMWs -- for "aesthetic" reasons, she claims. At least she's got taste in bikes.
And you don't necessarily get left in the cold without a bike if you still have other qualities. A woman THAT focused on bikes is probably a hoe bag and not worth your time, so quit being so insecure -- THAT turns a woman off more than lack of a bike. | |

One thing i have noticed is that the sport bike chics tend to be a bit younger. As a former crotch rocket owner, i can concur to this. And this aint the 60's...not everyone who rides a harley wants to be an outlaw biker. I have friends who are attorneys, circuit court judges, and insurance brokers who ride harleys. Motorcycle riding is a way of life. What you choose to ride is up too you. For me, its a Harley!  | |

Posted: 7/19/2006 5:13:20 AM | It's not just women. It's anyone who enjoy's and respect's heritage. Harley Davidson is a legend! Born & bred in the good 'ol US of A. It's simply knowing that something so great originated here in America. You can ride a Yamaha, Honda, Kawasawki, anything else and never get the feeling of pride that you do when you are on a Harley. Back about 15-20 years ago Harley riders (or any "bikers") were known as "white trash". But the image of Harley Davidson has changed dramatically. Now if you own a "Harley" people assume you have money. I think that could be why alot of women are drawn to Harley's now (the money thing). But for me I am "Old School" not "New Fool". 
There's a big difference in weekend warrior want-a-be's, and real bikers.  | |

I bought my 2006 Sportster - 4 months ago - for $10k. It's got a couple of post-factory options on it, too.
If I want to add more sure, it's going to cost; but $10k ain't bad.
And, I haven't met a white trash rider. In my experience riding, we're all professionals with jobs, families, and a simple love of the open road. | |

I road for awhile with a gent, had a blast, went to lima ohio, and louisville kentucky for flat track races. Tons of people, I was the only female in the bunch and these guys looked after me with TOTAL respect.
Harley people may not be(some) your white collar dress me up type, but they have hearts of gold.
If you were to research Harley's benifit background, you'd be surprised how much money HD riders generate.
As for the reason why I like them, FREEDOM! The feel of the air, the smell that changes within seconds. The temp. changes as well. And of course the rumble, the sound of power. If you have ever road in a group, they all ride as one. They stop together, take off together, turn together, the noise is uniform and can give you shivers, or at least it does me.
In ALL walks of life there are some who are nasty, but to date, I have never met a HD rider that has been rude or out of hand. | |

Posted: 7/19/2006 3:26:23 PM | First of all, harleys have been well known as the "Milwalkee Vibrator" for ages! Women love that! (check your seat for damn spots) The newer rubber-mounted engined versions don't get quite the same vibrations as say, my '78 custom shovelhead.
As for the price, they have become over inflated precisely because of the yuppy factor. You can still get a great price on a new harley if you are willing to wait. But the typical yuppy doctor, lawyer, judge isn't about to wait. So they pay as much as the dealer salesmen can get out of them.
A friend of mine bought a brand new harley road king a couple years ago for the list price of $15k. While most others were paying dealer prices of the exact same bike for over twice that! But obviously they have more money than brains! | |

I remember 10 years ago, maybe more, a Sportster could be had for as little as $4700.
Now this entry level bike is starting to get costly. O was thinking, adjusting for inflation, $8500. More than $10K? SH!T!! Some one get ripped off!
Then again you have those damned doctors, lawyers, and judges who want to be "rebels".
Those Bozos are the ones who jack up the price.
Might as well get a used beat up bike and rebuild it. Cheaper.

Most AMA types, at least in the 70s and 80s, hated HDs. Then again, a few of the better racers swore by them.
And let's face it. Women like guys with cool toys. It's just one of MANY tricks in a man's reportoire to reel in a lady. Don't be intimidated or become fatalistic. | |
