It's hard to believe how long good games work for you. I played Quake Team Fortress for years, only quitting when ID software released the source to dethrone it and try to get guys to buy quake 3 wich didn't work. I dabbled in a few others in misery until the semi again failed Wolfenstien Enemy Territory was released as freeware. I have been playing it on and off depending on my status since. Nomatter what i have tried i always come back, the mutliplayer is simply to much fun.

I've always enjoyed Nintendo the most which is why I owned and still own most of the systems they've released since the '80s. The only ones I never bought was Virtual Boy, Game Boy Pocket, and never owned the Super Scope 6 for the Super Nintendo (I still wish I could play Yoshi's Safari! LOL! Hopefully a remake of it will be released especially for the DSi or better suited as a remake for the Wii!!!

I love some of the old namco and Atari etc. arcade games like Galaga, gaplus, BurgerTime, Crystal Castles, and more but the game that got me started playing Nintendo was Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt when I was little in the late '80s. I wasn't very good but have gotten a lot betetr since then lol. Now as I said before Nintendo domiantes my video game collection and lately with new DS and Wii titles LOL!!!

Now on April 5th, the DSi will be released featuring 2 high quality cell phone style digital cameras with image distortion features! You will also have a bigger screens at 3.5 inches and a 5th backlight brightness setting! Not only that, but you will also be able to download exclusive software to the DSi using Nintendo Points! This time there's no Game Boy Advance slot in favor of an SD Card slot but this will be the next big portable gaming advice and once again Nintendo will destory its competitors!!!

This will be a big year for Nintendo anyway! First off is the DSi, in May for Wii is the new Punch-Out!! sequel, and finally gamers get to experience what is considered a big hit in Japan with The Legendary Starfy in June! This is actually the 5th game in the Starfy "Marine Platform" series and the first to be released in the US!!!

But Nintendo already has a bunch of hit titles for all ages such as Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart Wii, Resdient Evil games, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Wario Land: Shake It, Carnival Games series, Endless Ocean,a nd the lsit goes on and on!!!

In a big way Nintendo is a lot like Little Mac from Punch-Out!! The systems are smaller and have less graphics capabilities but in the end due to never giving up Nintendo eventually comes out on top!!!!

I used to game a lot but not as much anymore. A lot of games these days take so much time and dedication to get them finished. I've got a decent sized 360 library of games but only about 2 of them I have finished completely.

For the Wii release I sat in line at Walmart (Proudly in position 2) in the freezing ass weather for over 12 hours straight to snag mine. Am I a nerd? :)

I've had every major console since the originally NES (Excluding the PS3...)

Been doing it since i was 6 and started with the turbo graphix 16. Used to play some online games pro but now i just try to play them to enjoy not to make a 2nd job I don't get paid out of it.

I think games bring a lot of positives to life in general. Better reflex and hand-eye co-ordination (there are neumerous studies done with doctors who play games being far better in surgery then those that don't), give us a safe way to vent if you're having a bad day, and now with games like rock band and co-op becoming more prevailant, a very powerful social tool.

I only play Team Fortress now. Online multiplayer games with teams are the funnest for me. If I had more time I would play other games.

Playing videogames (for me) is one way of winding down from things in life that can be considered stressfull (work, love and bills) and sometimes for me nothing feels better after having a real shite day by loading up a fps and do some serious fragging on my pc.

Is anyone else the same, or have i got some sort of addiction to headshots? :D

Mmmm headshot addiction....

Im currently playing Gears 2 all the way through on my own. Im addicted to Meatbagging and headshots on that which is pretty dangerous because you have to run out in the middle of crossfire most of the time.

Gotta love Metal Gear Solid on the PS1 the most tho. Doesn't matter how much money I spend on building and customising my PC or buying the latest console no game comes close to MGS

Let's see, my first console was the Atari 5200 and I've been hooked ever since. Seriously, gaming is a way of life . Lately I've been on a bit of a dry spell and just been playing Left 4 Dead since I quit WoW after 3+ years in December. I can't wait 'til SC2 and Diablo 3 come out but in the mean time I'm looking forward to Aion later this year. I'm a PC gamer so it kinda limits the titles I am able to play but I get to play my brothers 360 quite a bit and I stay current on all the new releases for all genres. Bump for a gamers thread.

Hate to double post but what's everyone's opinion on the new Riddick game? The merc co-op looks like a lot of fun. I never played the first one but an associate of mine says it was pretty fun.

The "new" Riddick game is actually a remake of the first one on Xbox.

Mostly computer games-

Currently playing- Dark Star, Freelancer, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, The Movies, Star Wars Battlefront, playing through Oblivion again as an evil character.

Recently finished Two Worlds and Titan Quest

Favorites/games I go back to:

Sim City series
Civilization and Alpha Centauri
Morrowind
X-Com series(especially UFO Defense and Apocalypse)
Jagged Alliance 2
Half Life 2
Arcanum
Baldur's Gate 1 and 2
Fallout 1 and 2
Might and Magic 6 and 7
Betrayal at Krondor
Knights of the Old Republic
Freedom Force, and Freedom Force vs The Third Reich
Ultima VII
Wing Commander series
Privateer 2

Recently hooked up my Gamecube again and have been playing Gun, The Hobbit, and Namco's Arcade classics

When I was younger and still had my Sega Genesis/CD I played Shining Force 1 and 2, Wing Commander, Master of Monsters, Aliens Ate My Neighbors, I even got addicted to that Sega CD game where you shoot sewer rats.

Been playing video games since the 70's when we had the consoles that played Pong-type games, then moved up to the Atari 2600, and played games on my Texas Instrument computer, also spent many an hour at a friend's house playing Bard's Tale on his Commodore 64.

I have so many favorite old games...
Might & Magic 7 and 8
Heroes of Might and Magic 3
Starcraft
Diablo 1 and 2

Too many great old games. On another note, I recently finished making a game if some people wouldn't mind trying it out. Here's a short description anyway: "Dive into an intense wizard duel and crown yourself supreme wizard. Battle with cards to destroy your enemy's tower or build your tower to 30."

The only downside is that it doesn't have much for resolution/graphic changing options. So you'll probably need at least a resolution of 1152x864. Anyway I'd appreciate any input!

I definitely was when playing Jagged Alliance 2, nothing more satisfying than having one of your guys standing on a roof and taking a head shot at the baddie below.

I do not get to play video games as much as I used to but these days I still make time to play Left 4 Dead on my laptop.

I tend to watch my son play games then play them myself anymore. That's the price of growing up, letting your kid play the games. lol

However, the reason for my posting is to see if anyone plays Left 4 Dead online? I have been playing the game offline for the most part and completed all of the missions but I'm done playing with the bots and wanted to see of anyone wanted to meet online to play.

I enjoyed Left 4 Dead but lately, I've been playing Day Of Defeat Source. One thing I noticed that if you have a good connection your shots will have a better hit time?

It doesn't make sense but I noticed numerous times when an enemy runs around the corner I would spray them with the Thompson, but the enemy would shoot (as he's coming around the corner, ofcourse) at me a second later and I would die. I checked our ping and he would have a ping of 14 where as mine is 25.

Maybe it's just lag? But this happens quite a bit. Other games like CS (source and 1.6), TF2, Insurgency, and Age of Chivalry I never had that problem come about.

There are games where server lag accounts for most what you've described. The players you see on YOUR screen are not necessarily in the exact same position on your opponents screen (often they are off by a small margin). Sometimes this effects game play but usually it goes unnoticed. I used to play WoW and this was a well known and accepted fact. Although I can see how it could be even more annoying in FPS.

What your describing sounds more client side than server side, usually happens with connections to servers when your ping time gets above the 150 to 200 range in most games. Things you can try to resolve it, turn off file sharing programs, on cable remove splitters that are 3/4 way but only splitting into two lines, on dsl perhaps change out your data line (the phone wire from the modem to the wall) with a shielded line. Other than those there's also choking, which is where your computer gets so much data that it has a tendency to repeat processes while the buffers are being sorted out for the next series of data (this actually happens more than anything else, usually over such small periods of time you don't see it though), only way to fix that is either lighten the load (kill processes that you don't actually need running to play the game) or a better cpu in the computer perhaps the cpu cooler could be a factor if it's not adequate to keep the cpu near optimal temperatures (around 30 to 50 degree celsius depending on cpu brand and series).
