| Best places to meet people after 45 Posted: 3/19/2006 4:37:47 PM | How are we supposed to get to know each in these Forums if all we see is a pic and a nick?
Yes - they say the best place to meet people is doing what you love. I had been talking to an online friend (500+ miles away) about poetry readings, and have been trying to find some in Northeast Ohio.
Then I stumbled into meetups.com where ppl express interest in. setup local meetings on virtually every subject under the sun. Woo hoo!
Hell with trying to meet men on purpose. I am just gonna seek out places to pursue my passions and interests. And make interesting friends. Network. Keep my eyes open. If you don;t try too hard, you don't get hurt and disappointed.
But if you just sit at home, well you just end up alone and disappointed.

| Best places to meet people after 45 Posted: 3/20/2006 8:02:38 AM | I'll agree with a home improvement, because I work at one! I love helping all the "helpless" men with their projects. Just yesterday I had a man looking for a stud finder.....I thought to myself....I'm right here! But these places aren't just for women looking for men. We've been informed 72% of our customers are women.
wahya, as a widow, I found your comment on the is thread to be.....

| Best places to meet people after 45 Posted: 3/23/2006 9:53:15 AM | | When men complain they can't find someone, it means they can't find anyone. When women complain, it means they can't find one they like among all the men interested in them. Society dictates that women act like stationary flowers attracting swarms of bees. This is why at one end of the spectrum you have a huge clump of women fighting over a few perfect men, while at the other, a huge clump of men deemed not good enough fighting over the few women who put out. It is balanced in a strange way. | |

| Best places to meet people after 45 Posted: 3/23/2006 5:22:39 PM | Another good place is womens' shoe stores. I just walk up to whatever looks good to me and ask them what they are looking for. No matter what kind of shoe they ask for, I just go and get a pair of black strappy sandels with a high heel.
Then I go back to them and smile real big and say " babygirl, I think you would look damn sexy in these." The funny thing is, about nine out ten women try them on for me.
The other 10% get all pissy and say they are going to have me fired and want to talk to the manager. That's when I tell them, "whatever girlfriend, shit, I don't work here."
I'm actually banned from most of the women's shoe stores in Tampa now, but it did get me a lot of dates. `

| Best places to meet people after 45 Posted: 3/27/2006 10:49:59 PM | I'd have to go with the "do your thing" answers.I am still shy of strangers, but have learned and practiced looking people in the eyes and smiling. If nothing else,it feels good. I am a member of a few societies and a church, not much luck with a good relationship though, the net hasn't been much better, just not "the one".. ..yet The one place I've found in my community to meet a variety of people,is our local fishing pier.I was the only woman for one season, now there are several.I am a "dock rat" from childhood, and I enjoy it thouroughly, with my son in tow,or not. So I bait the hook, have company and chats with anyone who wants to talk. Maybe I will meet someone there,or not,but I will have fun fishing: | |

| Best places to meet people after 45 Posted: 3/28/2006 2:43:44 AM | | Finding a person who happens to be doing something that you also enjoy is exactly what you need to be looking for. Having different interests is ok to a point, but after awhile it will affect your relationship because either one of you stops doing what they enjoy in order to please the other person or else you are both going in different directions doing different things with "other" people which can eventually be bad for your relationship too. | |
