| Best places to meet people after 45 Posted: 3/28/2006 4:02:06 AM | I agree with you Ashley. I live in a small regional town in north Queensland,Australia and I find meeting people of my own age difficult. It's a tourist town and full of young bacpackers. I've made a few great friends though at jazz and blues clubs just by saing hi. By the way, you do have a lovely smile. | |

| Best places to meet people after 45 Posted: 5/6/2006 10:06:45 PM | Girls, lift up your head & smile if you see something you like. Geez I've been asked out in a Home Depot parking lot when i'm sitting in my car chillin-engine off, drinking coffee & enjoying a sunny day....guy got out of the van beside me & I looked up & thought wow.....next thing you now I smiled at my silliness & he's at the car door.
Doesn't mean it happens every day........but just sometimes......lineups are good, festivals or something you have an interest in cause then you already have something in common & sometimes do something out of the ordinary - never been to an art show - then go - cause I'm sure there is a gent there who would be happy to explain all about it.

| Best places to meet people after 45 Posted: 5/7/2006 9:38:15 AM | LOL Here in Vegas, if you go to Grocery stores, WallyWorld, or K-Mart you better speak Spanish since about all you see there are mexican women and most seem to be dragging along their litter of urchins. And those women who are by themselves always seem to have a cell phone glued to their ear...Hard to talk to them when they are carrying on a conversation with someone else....
Where I live, there are several groups that get together and meet at the club house... That is the upside..the down side is that most of the single ladies are widows old enough to be my mother and any younger ones are married.
I agree about approaching older women...seems like most want to grab the pepper spray but then I do not look like a 55 year old normal guy. I could cut my hair and beard and go "citizen" to please them, but then I would hate myself. Not to mention, trying to get one of these older ladies to go to the new Goth Club is going to be a joke... I would have an easier time convincing Iran to give up its nuke program...
Man I got to get my bike back together...when I was riding I was able to pick up girls from, well.... let's just say young, to 60's....
Here in Vegas, it is a very transient town with flocks of new people coming here every day..but trying to snag one of them who are only here for a few days is hard because they are busy running from one casino to another...plus most travel in flocks and hard to separate one of them out to talk to...

I work at a university and am always hearing the comment about "meeting available doctors". People, if they're available, there's a reason! At my job, I'm in a cubicle most of the day and don't see much of anybody. I have no clue where you go to meet people...maybe that's why I'm on here now...lol.
OR...I'm heading for bike week at Myrtle Beach this weekend...maybe I'll find someone there to talk to.

| Best places to meet people after 45 Posted: 5/8/2006 2:58:22 PM | Sure, but what if you live in a town so small you have to leave to change your mind, toss a rock from one end to the other...etc...etc.
I have to go 25 miles to get to a town large enough that there are actual unmarried men over 15.............sadness.

| Best places to meet people after 45 Posted: 8/3/2007 3:52:04 PM | Not so sure about the assisted living place... I work in one, on the 11-7 shift and the closest thing I have met there was the mortician from the funeral home at around 3 am. Now he was a nice looking man... So I flirted a little with him, and now just waiting for someone else to die so I can see him again !!
Ok, folks, can you beat that one?
|
| Best places to meet people after 45 Posted: 8/3/2007 4:26:27 PM | I dated a mortician for a while but he was so busy that our relationship just died out.
So after reading all the postings I am left with trolling the park lots or aisles of Home Depot or Lowes! Jeeves... how sad.....

| Best places to meet people after 45 Posted: 8/3/2007 4:45:32 PM | LOL at all the references to Walmart. I have a Walmart story that happened two weeks ago. I went to do some grocery shopping. While I was standing in the check out line, I heard a male voice behind me ask if I had found everything I came for. I replied 'yes, thank you' and turned around to find a man I had passed in several of the aisles. He wasn't bad looking but several inches shorter than me and probably a few years younger. We made small talk for a few minutes as we waited to checkout. He eventually told me his name, where he lived and what he did for a living, etc.. He asked me if I was married. I said no. Then he asked me if I would be interested in having dinner with him sometime. At first I was surprised and amused. I suddenly realized that I hadn't been passing him in all those aisles accidentally! It took a lot of guts to come up to me and ask me out. I admired that. So I said sure, 'let me give you my card with my number and you can call me later.' As I turned around to get a business card out of my purse....I heard him mumble, "That's ok, maybe we will bump into each other again some time." And then he walked away!!!
Guys, if you're going to ask a woman out ... it helps if you at least wait long enough to get her number!
On a positive note: At least I haven't been hanging around the phone wondering why he hasn't bothered to call.

| Best places to meet people after 45 Posted: 8/3/2007 4:52:20 PM | In the lineup at my favourite fast food restaurant. In a bookstore; during coffee time after church; on the bus; while walking in the park on a Sunday afternoon. So many places to choose from, and not one of them involves alcohol or misusing my two left feet. | |

| Best places to meet people after 45 Posted: 8/3/2007 8:17:49 PM | ...I heard that if you want to meet someone you have to "endulge' in the things they like to do, like watching basketball and football games, car racing hanging and maybe taking up the game of golf. Ladies if your not into sports, it means "faking it".... but we have had some practice in that area haha.

| Best places to meet people after 45 Posted: 8/6/2007 12:02:31 AM | | Has anyone ever really met someone in a bookstore? Everytime I see someone in Borders that I would like to meet, they usually give me a dirty look when they see me glancing over at them. | |

| Best places to meet people after 45 Posted: 8/6/2007 7:59:23 AM | At my age, the best place to meet potential dates is in the lobby of the nearest Hyatt-Regency. If money is a little scarce, the back seat of the car would work. In a pinch, I'm not against meeting in the nearest abandoned field. This, of course, is just my own personal opinion on this, and unfortunately, I've not found many women who feel the same as I. Still though, I remain hopeful.

| Best places to meet people after 45 Posted: 8/6/2007 11:40:08 AM | Because I am retired (and so the "meeting someone at work" is out by definition), I joined an interest group and socialize there. At least you can enjoy the activities even if you don't find someone. I am lucky in that a number of us go to concerts, etc., as a group (some are single, some are married) so there usually something to do. If nothing else, the Irish really know how to party ;-)
Also, I have been told that single men in their 50's outnumber single women in their 50's. If that is true, where are they hiding out?
