I too very much hate cigarette smoking, disgusting. At the same time though I too enjoy the puff of a good cigar on a special ocassion. Even more so I love my cheebs however, does it make me a hypocrite to smoke weed freely, but hate cigarettes so much? I don't think so but i'm curious about what ya'll think.

I have dated cigar smokers. I have smoked a cigar once or twice.
I dont see smoking as as big deal if they do not smoke in the house and pollute
the indoor air.
There are far worse things... as smoking is something that can be overcome and a person
can quit.

I would pass on someone who took recreational drugs before I would someone who smoked.
I would pass on someone who did not attend to their personal hygine and dressed frumpy / dirty or had bad teeth before I would a smoker.
I would pass on immaturity and irresponsible person before I would a smoker.
I would pass on someone who consumed alcohol daily or drank to intoxication before I would a smoker.
I would pass on religious nuts and controllers before a smoker.

There are a hundred things I would pass on before a smoker.

It absolutely disgusts me.

So much so, that no matter the man...I would never date him if he smoked.

I never smoke inside. I don't want to sit in a room full of smoke either. After a cig, I wash my hands and either brush my teeth or have a listerine strip.

Disgust is a rather strong word, isn't it? Do you vomit when you see a smoker?

Nice post frangal but there's two points I find interesting:

1) I would pass on someone who took recreational drugs before I would someone who smoked.
2) I would pass on someone who did not attend to their personal hygine and dressed frumpy / dirty or had bad teeth before I would a smoker.

1) Smoking IS a recreational drug, it has a calming effect on people, similar to other drugs out there. It reassures them and satisfies their cravings. The only difference between cigarettes and recreational drugs is that one was accepted as legal, the other wasn't in an antiquated system. If cigarettes were invented in this day and age they would fall in with recreational drugs. It's just too much legal/civil red tape to criminalize it now.

2) Have you ever looked at the teeth of a long-term smoker? Or stood next to one just after they've puffed up? The smell alone from my boss when he comes back from his cig break could choke me for 20 minutes after the fact before the stench sufficiently diffuses throughout the office... I'd rather deal with B.O. which is far more localized...

Not an attack, just curious what sorts of smokers you've known during your lifetime because clearly they're carrying around aerosol cans and mouthwash wherever they go... Where can I find these people?

Smoking, along with pot or any other drug or constant drinking is a complete turn off. But as for smoking itself, the smell on the hair, clothes, breath and hands is unbearable. I've lived with parents who smoke my entire life and even though I got somewhat used to it, the smell has never stopped bothering me. When I moved out I made sure to find roomates who don't smoke.

I am smoking a butt while responding. I must defend my fellow smokers. There are benifits to smoking allow me to elaborate.

1) A smoker can save lives in a house fire. since a smoker can inhale smoke he should be able to last longer in a smoke filled room thus giving him time to save the pink lungs who are not used to it.

2) A smoker keeps millions of tobacco workers employed down south where good jobs are scarce. not to mention all the people in the medical field.

3) smokers die younger than most people thereby saving social security benifits for others, family members benifit from payouts on life insurance much earlier.

4) smoking can mask many other household odors!!!

5) A smoker can be the Donald Trump of cell block c if he has enough butts.

6) If a smoker wants to change the color of his walls from white to yellow he does not need a paintbrush, just another pack of butts. Works on curtains and clothes too!!!!!!

7)If the the funeral home loses granma's cremains tahn a smoker can save the day by filling the urn.

8) Smokers pay millions in extra taxes which support our troops in Iraq.

9) Smokers are fodder and provide a distraction so that other minorities are not bashed as much.

10) Smokers are orally fixated and are good suckers!!

If you see a smoker than have sex with them. they are unappreciated heroes and thier days are numbered. give them some money too they will need it later for the doctor.

I do the same thing. I smoke outside, have a towel covering my hair, wear different clothes and make sure I shower afterwards. Its a pathetic thing to be this way.

It's a dealbreaker for me, and I realize I might miss out on an otherwise perfect fit-type gal, but I don't care. While I know smokers are neither better nor worse than nonsmokers as people, here is what I think when I see an attractive woman blaze up who I might otherwise love to get to know:

1) She's weak
2) Doesn't think enough of herself or her body not to ruin it by smoking
3) Susceptible to peer pressure
4) Wonder what other destructive habits she might have?
5) Makes her wholly unattractive to me when I see her doing it
6) I automatically assume she has an attitude (in the negative way)
7) Cannot envision myself in any way with her---it's like my thoughts about her just turn to dust and fall to the ground.

Extreme? Not really. It's just........so........completely.......unattractive.......

It's a definite turn off for me as is any addiction. I dont judge those who smoke, I just choose not to be around it as much as possible. I would like to be with someone who looks after themselves, health wise and smoking doesnt fit into that scenario.

I smoke, not like a chimney but i do. I have respect for those who dont. I smoke outside, i stand a distance away when i am having a cigarette around those who dont smoke. I chew gum and use purfume. I'm curtious. Because i smoke, it doesnt make me anyless of a human being. its a habit. some people bit their nails (i do that too), tap their foot, and other people are just jodgemntal (another bad habbit). Doesn't make them any less of a person, it doesnt mean thay are not loveable or unattractive. Everyone has a glitch, no one is perfect. Deal with it.

edit: i prefer a smoker....if for no other reason than to avoid the superiority complex of a non-smoker and/or ex-smoker-non-smoker...

Smoking is a total turnoff. Dated someone recently that said he quit... and I would smell smoke in his truck and on him occaisionally. When I asked him he would say he was smoking on occaision: like one or two a week. I quit three years ago. So when someone says they quit I kind of believe them. Im gulible that way. LOL

I only smoke in bed!!..(winks) (giggles)

~......has anyone ever looked closely at the teeth on a non-smoker....my gawd....there's nothing worse.......

I look at my nice white teeth every day and so do alot of people, since I am usually smiling!
I have never made anyone puke.

IN MY OPINION!!......smoking is a filthy, disgusting habit, There is nothing worse then sitting in the same room with someone who smokes and you have to go home and take a shower afterwards because your clothes and hair stink like cigarette smoke. To think of kissing someone who has just finished a cigarette??..now that to me.."nothing could be worse"

Its just yucky!!!

^^^ ...was a little bit of sarcasm and light mockery in this comment....intentionally...

ok...we are all entitled to choose whom we would like to spend time with, and of course our personal preferences have everything to do with those choices.....but...i have to say that being a smoker by no means, is a character flaw.....physically to some, yes....but it really has nothing to do with ones personality...yanno?

i smoke...and make no apologies.....if you don't like it...it is entirely your choice to avoid me....

You know I can't help but think how some of you would respond to being with someone who suddenly becomes ill or has to have an amputation.
Its not all about what turns you on people.... lol.... shesh, grow up.. the shallowness of people just sometimes blows me away.
This thread has people saying cigarettes are the most disguting thing... apparently you need to get out more if you think a cigar or cigarette is the most disgusting thing people put in their mouths. You have people with all kinds of diseases, STD's and worse things out there that can sure make you sick.. FOR REAL SICK.

Not like smoking is some major issue like a man with a very small penis

or no personality or thinks his match is pam Anderson and he is like Mr average Joe

That's not what this thread is about.

It's to give your opinion of are you turned off by a smoker. WTF's an amputation got to do with anything? Good gawd.

Why do people always take this $hit so personally, rationalize and compare apples to oranges?

I guess I do because I tire of people being so shallow. You know smoking is not a character flaw like some feel it is. Its just a bad habit.
How a overweight man can claim smoker is unhealthy partner ... lol
crazy chit like that... wow
mind blowing to me.

I must be a freak because I would not consider certain things so bad... if the person was
honest, faithful, truthful, open and caring. I would not run if they suddenly became ill or something happened to them that society deemed " a turn off ".....
I must not be very shallow and base my ideals on another scale than most
