| does anyone get as turned off with a smoker as i do? Posted: 8/10/2007 9:35:25 AM | I can't be around smoke ...period!!
Saturday evening I had guests for a pizza party.....three were smokers. Even though the party was held outdoors on the deck and the three of them moved several feet away from the rest of us, my daughter and I were gagging from the smell. I had to tell them to use the "side yard".
It has gotten to the point where I can smell smoke on someone even if that person is not smoking at the time. It would be impossible for me to date a smoker.

I quit smoking in 1999. I simply quit buying cigarettes.....easy and simple.....they don't come knocking on your door and jumping in your mouth. LOL. Neither do alcohol and drugs.
I know I'm being facetious but there is a HUGE grain of truth in what I said.
Think about it!! | |

| does anyone get as turned off with a smoker as i do? Posted: 8/10/2007 8:22:35 PM | I smoke from the minute I get out of bed in the morning till I'm ready to turn off the lights and go to sleep at night. For the sake of my own health - started smoking at 12 and soon turning 51 - I deliberately rent accommodation where I have to smoke outside...been doing so for over a decade.
I will respect people's rights in restaurants, the workplace etc. to be smoke free but I have absolutely no interest in dating a non-smoker for all of the reasons listed in the posts above. I don't want someone on my back 24/7 just like non-smokers don't want smoke in their faces.
Smoke free politics has gutted the bar and restaurant industry in this city to the point of making some local areas look like a ghostown. It's a shame because they outlawed smokers clubs and every attempt at compromise that smokers have tried to make...even after expensive ventilation systems were put in place.
I admire all of your smoke free lifestyles but wish that you too would keep your second hand air to yourselves when it comes to public policy...it's reached the point of overkill.

| does anyone get as turned off with a smoker as i do? Posted: 8/10/2007 9:16:13 PM | I find nothing sexier than kissing a smoker. Although there are rules you have to obey if you are a smoker. I always keep body spray in my car and spray myself everytime i get off my car. You have to smell good alway since you smoke. Have mints or gum always available. It may sound crazy but I find the taste of mint, cigarrette and the smell of good cologned so... OMG irresistible ;) | |

| does anyone get as turned off with a smoker as i do? Posted: 8/10/2007 9:17:35 PM | When I smoked, I had a guy tell me that a beautiful girl who smokes is the same as an ugly one who doesn't.
It hurt my feelings at the time. But he was right in a couple of ways. A beautiful girl who smokes won't stay beautiful as long as one who doesn't, she won't smell or taste as beautiful, and if it's a life-long thing, she won't be around as long to enjoy a beautiful life.
Smoking is a dealbreaker, hate it & won't be around it. It doesn't matter at all what else he might have going for him.

| does anyone get as turned off with a smoker as i do? Posted: 8/10/2007 10:21:14 PM | I dated a cigar smoker and it gave me a headache, made me feel ill... we made a deal that he wouldnt smoke around me and I would always remain naked around him... it was a great deal...
Smoking is a nasty habit, so is chewing with your mouth open, talking with food in your mouth, drinking excessivly and acting like a jerk.. talking on the cell phone all the time, watching too much tv, burping, talking loudly, spitting, clearing your throat every five seconds..
It seems like some people once comfortable in a relationship start letting the manners slip.. I always try to treat my friends and loved ones like I have just met them and never let that lazy, who cares anymore feeling slip out...
common courtesy.... is not that common... If you smoke, dont smoke in front of anyone, brush your teeth, gargle, spray febreeze on your clothes, and rinse on your hair (like no more tangles) and be considerate of others.
that is all | |

Smoking is a nasty habit
like acting like a jerk Uhhh...choosing to smoke a legal plant has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with BEHAVIOR while interacting with others. WTF?
If you smoke, dont smoke in front of anyone, brush your teeth, gargle, spray febreeze on your clothes, YADA YADA LOOK, WOWAN, you choose to be a nonsmoker, great. Dont come prancing about as a "holier and better than thou" chick to the rest of the world, K? Dont dig smoke? Skip rocks and stay away from those who do.
common courtesy...its not that common... I'll not even go there.
that is all Thank you, oh righteous one...

| does anyone get as turned off with a smoker as i do? Posted: 8/11/2007 5:39:45 AM | A major turnoff is dating someone as sanctimonious as some of these non-smokers. Attitude is key people. If you are all smug and judgmental about smokers that attitude carries over into the rest of your life's activities as well. | |

| does anyone get as turned off with a smoker as i do? Posted: 8/11/2007 9:27:06 AM | | Since when was preferring to date a non smoker necessarily 'sanctimonious' or 'judgemental'? People are put off by all sorts of things, body shape, height, attitude... Some people find the smell of smoke a turn off. And it doesn't matter how many mints you chew.... | |

| does anyone get as turned off with a smoker as i do? Posted: 8/11/2007 10:23:41 AM | | Kissing a smoker must be equivalent to licking an ashtray. I used to smoke and still remember that gross taste in my mouth. There is nothing like having a clean mouth and kissing one. I have to turn my head now if I even talk to a smoker. | |

| does anyone get as turned off with a smoker as i do? Posted: 8/11/2007 11:49:50 AM | If we as smokers are nice enough not to do it except out doors with the wind blowing away from you then lay off, we are not hurting you if fact we are helping you, there is what is called a Sin Tax and cig. on are it. This money goes to highways, etc. now if they take smoking away there will ya taxes go up, at least you would have something to put down besides us. Let me ask ya all a question what do you do to help other people? Anything? Well I do something that if you would ever need it you would have one less person who without thinking nothing about who you are, how much money you make, what you look like, etc. It may not mean a thing to you now put it would if and when you need me. I don't ask any of you to buy them for me, come and see me at my house, and please would you move down wind from me cause I can't stand your perfume or the way you look, it's getting to my health, mental health that is. I'm not against any of you for any reason and if I was I just would not be around you simple, not putting you down, not getting nasty like you do to us. I think you all should start a Church since you all seem to want to preach. | |

Since when was preferring to date a non smoker necessarily 'sanctimonious' or 'judgemental' Preference is one thing. However all a person has to do is read a few of the posts in this thread and a couple hundred like it and it is easy to see where the sanctimonious and judgmental comes in.

| does anyone get as turned off with a smoker as i do? Posted: 8/11/2007 2:10:30 PM | Someone said one time that kissing some who smokes is like licking an ashtray.
I have found some people will say "well, I won't smoke around you or in the house". Does that really count? In my experience, I have found that someone who smokes carries it with them. Their breath, their clothes, etc. So I don't date a smoker. I just don't like the way they smell.

always keep body spray in my car and spray myself everytime i get off my car. You have to smell good alway since you smoke. Have mints or gum always available. Body spray, febeze, breath mints do not get rid of the vile odor - they actually make it worse, as it doesn't get rid of it - it "masks" it. It seems to be pervasive. So the favor you think you're doing people, isn't really a favor .............nice thought, though.
We smoke. We have what you think is a nasty habit. What you have is beyond a habit. It is a major addiction - one of the worse. Who does it hurt? It hurts the thousands who have died from second hand smoke or who have incurable diseases from the same source.
Far be it from me to sit in judgment of anyone who wants to poison THEMSELVES, whether they do it with drugs, booze, tobacco - it's fine as long as it is only THEMSELVES they are poisoning.
I had to quit a job that was supporting my [then] young family because the inhalation of second hand smoke was killing me and my doctor said I would be very ill within a short time if it did not stop. That's neither sanctimonious or judgmental - it's SELF PRESERVATION.

| does anyone get as turned off with a smoker as i do? Posted: 8/11/2007 3:17:48 PM | personally I am allergic to smoke. Nothing turns me off then seeing a guy light up a cigarette. He could be totally cute, but I would be totally not interested in him if he smoked. From my experience i was married to a smoker, was engaged to a smoker, dated many smoker and personally not good for my health so if the men want to kill themselves with cigs let them we dont have to be involved with them. Also, on that note, I cant stand beer, omg it smeels really bad when they breath all over you i dont drink beer, and I wouldnt breath all over them. Can't they drink something else like a mixed drink. But its not just me alot of women I know say the same thing dont like men breathing on them with beer on their breath. Maybe cause they just drink too much. heres a note carry some mints and pop one in your mouth if you are gonna talk to the opposite sex as not to disgust her with your breath. | |
