Yes, I do. I can't handle the smoke, their clothes reek of smoke, their nasty nicotine stained teeth, and chewing tobbacco. is just totally gross. The spitting all the time,The nasty taste in their mouth. IT truly is like kissing a ashtray.

I think there is a space in preferences to avoid smokers. Why the need to bring it to the forums. NEWS FLASH......Smokers also dont want to be with judgemental non-smokers. So we avoid them. I have that I smoke on my profile if I get a message from a non-smoker I make it very clear(incase they cant read) that I am a smoker and if I decide not to, it will be for me and not for someone else.............

And by the way.....I am an occassional smoker. Just like an occassional drinker, who doesnt drink every day all day. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

My thoughts as a social smoker are that non smokers should remain open mineded enough to try and get that person to quit smoking. Once the relationship becomes serious enough or in that comfort zone. I would most definitely give up cigarettes for the true love of my life and have a longer, more productive and healthy lifestyle. However, there are much worse addictions which I have never had. Thanks for reading my thoughts.

I've been married to smokers - x2. I, myself, do not smoke and have never smoked.

I don't immediately rule someone out because they smoke - even though my preference is non-smoker. But, I know many gentlemen who do smoke and they aren't a-holes about the fact that they smoke. In other words, they are considerate of people who do not smoke and don't impose the second-hand smoke from their habit on those who don't.

No, it isn't pleasant to kiss someone who tastes like an ashtray, but that too can be managed with a smoker's toothpaste or gum.

It's all about how the smoker chooses to manage themselves while participating in their habit/hobby. (Yes, people who are only ocassional smokers are called hobby smokers).

I look at the whole person and not just one aspect of their person.

Smoking is the deal-breaker for me. I met a guy from another site who said he smoked "now and then." well, we met for a drink and he smoked one after the other, lighting the new one from the old. also drank HUGE steins of beer while he smoked. I was outta there.....and his last line?

HIM: I think you're missing a lot because you won't date a smoker.

ME: Oh? What would that be?

HIM: You missed me......(exits off barstool, nearly tripping cause he's buzzed).

oh yeah, right - I can't wait to get involved with a heavy smoker AND an alcoholic!

I haite it too and I am a girl. I dont care if people smoke I just don't like it. I used to smoke 10 years ago so I guess I can't pass judgement, but I think it is not a really smart habit to have these days. More practically it will stink up your house for a very long time.

Definitely. Smoking's downright disgusting, and then as an added bonus makes me seriously question the overall judgment of the person in question, so it's just not worth bothering with.

I just can't date a smoker, just can't do it. The smell alone makes me physically ill and I know I could not kiss a smoker, just can't do it.

Understand completely. I myself smoke and I can tell you, I have dated both smokers and non-smokers. If you don't smoke around them the smell still stays with your breath and your clothes. Now we come to the other side. I have dated women that has an incredible ass breath after drinking a glass of wine or a beer. I don't drink so the taste or smell of alcohol is just as bad as a smoker. Yes I could get graphic about other things, that is a whole lot worse than kissing a smoker but I will hold off on that. I would think kissing a man with a mustache that has a cold and the mucus that stays in the mustache would gross you out so much more than kissing a smoker.

All non smokers on this subject have great post on here but just think of other reasons that are worse reasons you would' date someone.

Irrelevant. If someone wants to stay away from smokers, that makes it relevant to THEM.
Just as important as any other qualifiers......

And yes, I used to smoke............... now I just smolder....................

Umm...Go. I hate to to tell you this but again the reason I won't date a smoker is because the smell makes me sick to my stomach, literally.

Why would you get graphic? Why would you need to? And if you don't drink than you should not date someone who drinks, there I said it, as someone who drinks wine, I am not offended at all that you would not want to date me. What is the big deal. It is call having a preference.

And yes I can think of worse reasons not to date someone, but if they smoke I don't need to think of any other reasons now do I?

Smoking is a huge issue for people, it is right up there on the top of the deal breaker list. There are several reasons why someone may not want to date someone else i.e. weight, height, material status...and there are plenty of threads that deal with those topics. However, this thread deals with smoking. Perhaps you should start a thread of your own asking for reason why not to date someone, other than smoking.

My last girlfriend had quit smoking before we met, then started back up again.
It bothered me sometimes. The smoke itself, stiffling and suffocating for me.

She burned my carpet in a couple places, in the house and car, plus made my house smell bad too.

I really liked her though and she was pretty good about keeping it out of my face. We never fought about it.
It hurt me to think that this could make her sick, or even kill her one day.

Yes, I cannot stand smoke. I don't mind if friends smoke outside, I will even go outside to accompany them but kissing a smoker is a turn off because it's on their breathe and it's like kissing an ashtray.

God yes!! I just recently turned on maybe the best opportunity at happiness.. I will never know because I found out before meeting the guy he is a smoker.
I have dated a smoker before and I drove him crazy about how it bothers me.
It's like I have an allergy to it. I get real nauseous being around cigarette smoke and omg FORGET it about cigars.
I will compromise my behind off about alot of things and I have with some guys I have gone on dates with that are smokers. But, I hate it.
And I HATE kissing a smoker, even after they brush teeth, gargle with mouth wash whatever it's still there and gross. I am not being judgemental or disagreeable it would like me expecting a guy to be cool with me having body odor.
I would stink. Well a smoker no matter how often you smoke, if they smoke around me or it is still on their clothes they stink.
And the occassionally smoking BS - like I only smoke when I drink.. ok so when I am around you and you are drinking I have to deal with something unplesaant.

I always get bummed when I am attracted to a guy and I find out he is a smoker.

Yeah, the dealbreaker for me is a smoker, esp with my allergies.
