Why is it shallow for not wanting to date a man/woman who doesn't smoke? Why is that so horrible????

For myself, it turns me off. Completely. Always has, always will. It's not something I can overlook or deal with.

that leaves out quite a few people, and how can you be sure they are STD or disease free?
you cant

What a ridiculous analogy.

They're not blowing gonorrhea in your face.

I'd prefer not to date a smoker too. It just kind of grosses me out.

lets say you met someone who smoked... not a chain smoker but maybe smoked a few smokes a day.
Lets say that person was very good person and good to you, you had attraction and chemistry...

then what?

no chance?

what if you are involved with someone and have a good relationship and he is in an accident and loses his arm? you run?

There is this wonderful little medical term..."UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS" it simply means that you treat everyone as though they are infected until you have medical proof.

I choose that!! I choose my health!!

If that leaves quite a few people out then I can live with that!!..

No. No chance.

I hate it THAT much. Can't stand it. It's in my profile and smokers can't contact me. (not sure if that option actually works though)

Is he working and dressed as a cowboy or is he walking around the mall with spurs on his boots....IMHO, it looks ridiculous. I don't like it. I don't like the baggy pants either. It would be the same as a man walking around dressed like a matador or a pirate.

I have likes and I have dislikes. If men don't like it, the men don't have to contact me.

It's really that simple.

I'm not going to debate or defend my personal preferences with or to you. Period. This inquisition has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Thank you Sambuca...my sentiments exactly!

This kind of stuff is what made me leave my ex.

He did not like black people. I made a new friend who was black. he deemed her....
unacceptable, yet she was the kindest, most caring beautiful person inside. She was a true friend to me... he saw her as putting out a bad image to be around and talked funny ( she was southern and we were not )...

I couldnt beleive the shallowness and started to note how superficial he was.
I left him over stuff like this.

I should have left him when he became injured and couldnt walk due to an accident and had to have back surgery and was otherwise helpless for 3 months. he got well but it changed me forever.
I guess I am just not that shallow and can look inside more than others.

At present, I am enjoying a Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur 1066 Maduro cigar while at the navigation desk of my home, a 30' sloop moored dockside, in Galveston, Texas.

I have two overhead hatches (18"x18" each) cracked open for ventilation, and one will not detect the odor of smoke belowdecks come tomorrow morning. (by the way, it's nice to have a 65 degree night in February, with the heater on low to dispell clamminess from the heavy fog which has embraced the area for the past two days.)

Though I keep a 200 count humidor on the boat, I'm courteous and do refrain should I have a smoke-adverse guest on board.

I find that cigars and cigarettes are two vastly different things. A cigar afficianado enjoys the leaf in a like manner as a wine enthusiast.

Vintages, growers, noted makers and blends are the pursuit of the studious cigar fan, while a quick and dirty niccotine fix are the quest of the cigarette addict.

Moreover, I've found that an astonishingly high percentage of ladies who are otherwise revolted by cigarette smoke, do, once exposed to the more fragrant blends of handmade cigars, gain if not an appreciation of them, an understanding that premium cigars (when not abused in the "smokes like a chimney" mode), are a far more acceptable an interest than a mindless craving for the next Marlboro "hit".

But, as a package deal, should the lass deliver the ultimatum that I ought divest myself of one of my true (though occassional) pleasures..........well, its been nice knowing you, ma'am.

By the same measure, I can tolerate the less addicted cigarette smoking lady. Say, less than a pack a day. But the "smokes like a chimney" woman is not attractive to me, either.

A bit of balance goes a long way, methinks.

I agree with the boat man..... balance and some realism but I bet many of you who claim to hate smokers so much would overlook it in a rich guy... lol

shesh

my point is if smoking is such a big deal and the worst thing ever.....
you need to get out more.

Frangal..I seriously think you're on crack. Maybe you've been hittin' the bong too hard.

You obviously just don't get it. Save your breath Sambuca and Terminally...the lights on, but no one's home.

Oh, and btw - I don't need a rich guy...I do quite well on my own

Its one thing to have a preference and another to judge a person on
your preferences and be so critical. If I said I dont like fat chicks so i dont date them.. it is very different than saying I dont like fat chicks i dont date them because they are the most disgusting thing I ever saw.

get it

no I doubt it.

oh well.

@working girl

Ummmm....you disgust for smoking has been made aproximately 20 times - we get it!!

I smoke yet prefer not to date a smoker either. I mentioned this already. I'm relieved
she's a non-smoker. We smokers no it's disgusting and it IS!! That is why
I prefer a non-smoker to a smoker.
