| Tom Boy's, a Plus or a Minus in Men's Books? Posted: 2/23/2006 2:32:04 AM | I'm quite shocked at the positive things said here about tomboys, i have always found men shocked and intimidated by the fact i look feminine yet i race dirtbikes, gocarts and can do most DIY jobs men can do!
Girlfriends tell me off when they bring a man around that they think is a " good catch" to find me wearing scruffs and laying a deck or digging a pond but its me i don't care if i break a nail or have mud in my hair.... i'm glad i read this thread now, so many tomboys on here and they are all strong, independent, beautiful, sexy women

A "tom boy" is a lady that can interract with a guy on his level. A lady that likes camping, four-wheeling, working on the car or the house is a priceless trait to find in a woman.

| Tom Boy's, a Plus or a Minus in Men's Books? Posted: 2/23/2006 5:04:32 AM | I've always been a tomboy and I'm proud of it. The problem is men who can keep up and do as many things as I can. I've been around men who can't even light my pilot light to the house!!! I actually know men who... ahem... "can't fish".... ewwwww... run for the hills!!
I camp, trailride, can ride motorcycles, fish, hunt, love 4wheeling, can do most of the DIY stuff myself, have a library full of DIY books, can do woodworking but I can honestly say that i'm no good at fixing my truck or car. I have to leave that to my men friends, BUT.. while they are fixing it.. I'm fixing something yummy for their tummy!!!
There are actually times I do dress up, wear makeup and even take long hot baths.. just like the real ladies do.. lol

Posted: 2/23/2006 6:31:18 AM | I can do the basics with vehicles, which it seems most have mentioned, but in honesty, dont care to much for tinkering under the hood. So I am not sure if this is considered to be as much of a Tom Boy?? What I do enjoy is being creative in remodeling... I can, 97% of the time, measure and cut to an almost perfect fit, using a circular saw, a mitre box and back saw, have mudded and taped, hung dry wall, sanded, varnished and hung doors and cabinets, layed carpet and linolium,as well as cement, and have done a little electrical (very little electrical) Love the outdoor stuff, landscaping , tree trimming, hedge clipping, weedeating, mowing, power washing.................. hell no wonder why I'm single, I have no friggin time to even meet anybody to date !!

| Tom Boy's, a Plus or a Minus in Men's Books? Posted: 2/23/2006 11:14:54 AM | Now I dont know if its just me but it seems like once I posted this Thread and had a few replies on how great it is to be a tom boy, there was a few individuals (no one in specific) that just had to show off there stuff. Would this kinda be like an act of desperation? I know that I'm going to hear an ear full for this and maybe called a hypocrit, in the begining of the Thread I use a couple of example of what i did too, but that was only for examples. yeah you may think I'm a b***h but i'm truthfull and a bit blunt about what i think. | |

I for one told things I do that make people think I'm more of a tomboy.. as I'm sure the others did. FOO FOO women do not do the type things we have mentioned. Does this bother you? Are you trying to say we're trying to make a point of what we can do??? And what does ANY of this have to do with FINANCES???? Gee call me a dumb azz but I do not understand what you are trying to say. It's almost like you are upset that people are commenting on your thread but trying to explain why we are considered tom boys by alot of people.... ????

Yeah, EVERYTHING she said goes for me too! Everything I know how to do, I have learned by trial and error from being on my own at the age of 16, not all of it by choice, but rather the fact I could not afford to hire it professionally done!!!!! for example: my washing machine leaving my clothes wet after the spin cycle, only to pay some @sshole $65.00 to get it fixed... a washer had unthreaded itself off a bolt from underneath, a whole 5 minute job!!! I personally get f*cking tired of being ripped off because I'm a female and have learned to at least attempt doing things I want and/or need done. If you choose to call it bragging, then so be it, I call it being proud of what things I can do and not having to always fork over $$$$ to a professional or be dependant on family or friends to do things I want or need fixed, and being fortunate enough to enjoy most of it in the process whether it comes from a sense of accomplishment or just being a Tom Boy from growing up around five brothers! I assume it was MY last post you were referring to as far as your comments on bragging? Im not sure what this thread was supposed to really mean then, tell me, was I supposed to stick to the main theme of knowing how to put air in tires or changing one, maybe possibly knowing how to pump my own gas? LMAO Sooooooooo Yeah, after more than twenty five years of bruises, bleeding, the cuts and scrapes, pulled muscles along with all the tears of frustration and determination I've endured to learn the things I can now do, Yeah, I'd say I've earned the F*cking right to brag, if thats what you want to call it !!

I'm not the one that brought up the finances thing and i agree with you about not having to pay an arm and a leg to fix something that can easly be done your self. I also never said you ppl were braging. Please disregard that post.

| Tom Boy's, a Plus or a Minus in Men's Books? Posted: 2/23/2006 5:32:11 PM | It starts slowly: replacing a washer, then a break pad... then she keeps the week-old dirt under her nails and inserts "F"-words everywhere. Mmmm, sexy... | |

| Tom Boy's, a Plus or a Minus in Men's Books? Posted: 2/24/2006 12:30:09 AM | | I'm a combination of both...I have out worked men on the farm..but at the same time my gfs tease me and call me a girlie girl..wtf ever that means...thought all women were girlie.. | |
|
| Tom Boy's, a Plus or a Minus in Men's Books? Posted: 2/24/2006 12:37:01 AM | In my opinion... a "girly girl" is one that would prolly be afraid of messing up her hair if she were to help with anything that would include carpentry, working on autos or even doing a bit of landscaping. Whereas a tomboy may think about, "now that we are under this car and we have replaced the transmission, I think it's time that we both jump in the shower and clean each other up a bit" | |
